This is one of the best E30 videos that I've seen in a while. Great info, but even more so, you totally nailed the feeling of driving one of these cars. When I drive my E30, it just feels right. I always say it feels like it fits me like a glove. I've driven countless cars from the 1920s to brand new and the E30 just feels like it's one of the best cars, ever built in comparison to all of them. It's not better per SE, but it just feels like it is, which is good enough for me.
I think the value lies in the platform as a blank slate, you can do anything with it. cruiser, drift car, street car, swap a k series in it, swap an LS with it, make it look classic, make it looks like a missle, etc. the sky is the limit
The E30 M3 needs to be taken in the proper context. Being the homologation street version of a spectacular racing car on a track it remains the benchmark for a wonderfully fun responsive magnificent driver's car. On the street it rides rough, the engine is harsh and the high narrow power band will have you constantly working the gears to keep it on the boil. Meanwhile the 325i handles and stops just as well, is just as responsive, is basically as fast, has a smooth engine and rides much better.
The thing at least with the 320i is that with the weird powerband for street it kinda suffers on the lower end, so you push the pedal more to compensate and the mpg in average is worse than a 323 or 325 surprisingly. Mine does 25 mpg on a good day, though i guess it depends on many other factors due to the age. But it’s a classic car you may not care about mileage as much.
They are hyped and you're right but with this, like with most BMW's of the 70's 80's and 90's the hype is well deserved, they are very nice cars.
I had exactly the BMW 320i , 6 cylinders, 1989. It was such a nice, perfect car.

This is my absolute favorite car. Great memories riding in a 318 coupe in the mid nineties as a kid.

Mine was 1990 and I absolutely LOVED it. I bought it for 4000 pounds in 1994, sold it for about the same a few years later. So sad :(
You've got great taste in cars! I love my 24v swapped 316i Touring.
Still drive my 86 es. Love it

E30 is simply legend 😍
Catching your left foot on the dash panel suggests that the panel isn’t fitted correctly or is broken, both very common.

What’s the engine sound like ? Seems pretty quiet in this video.
This model being a more normal spec is fairly quiet yeah
