Nothing beats the torquey driving in my Tesla Model 3. Nothing. I love shooting out of corners and roundabouts with this thing. Someone who says it's "steril" never drove a 470 hp 620 nm EV. And it costs 12 cents/km if I push it. I have a Mercedes E500 as well and I love it, but it can't compare to the incredible EV torque. And the Model 3 never loses traction. I beat any 63 AMG model in the rain.

@@eliasdurl6830 I have another daily vehicle, I don't use this one too much, but in general the controls in Germany are somewhat permissive when they see this type of thing.
@@eliasdurl6830 I was writing a reply and read too late that you are also from Belgium. This is the only country where it is a PITA to get any kind of modification street legal. "oh you have 10hp more? Illegal!" Meanwhile in Germany they have a 500hp E30 ...
@@dokterkarelGermany is also pretty strict when it comes to modifying your car (aftermarket parts need a TUV approval) and in the Netherlands you need to have checked your car by RDW if it gets like 30%+ hp (unsure bout that number). Don't know if this beauty went the official route..
It looks like you still got the original E30 steering rack under the car. You can change that to E36 or even E46 to get less turns lock to lock, which drastically improves cornering. There are adapter shimms aviable and you need to get a power steering setup working. If you already have power steering, you can use that plug and play. If not, you can buy a Mercedes A class electronic steering pump. The reservoir is included in the pump. So you just need power to the pump, two lines to the rack and a braket to attach the pump to the engine bay. Easy to do and a totally new (better) driving experience imo. Cheers to the E30 community and thanks for keeping those old beemers alive!
My very first car was a hand-me-down low mileage 1988 325i manual, four door. 22 years and many, many cars later it's still the one I'm the most sentimental about. It was a wonderful driver's car that had a purity that bred so much fun.
Dream build, bravo! Would've painted or kept it that beautifull BMW dark blue and put some silver Alpina wheels on it, but technically it's the bees knees for me. Thanks for sharing!
That car is insane. I would be really afraid to drive all that power on such an old suspension. No ABS, no servo steering, no tracktion control. For sure I would end up in a ditch after passing a first curve. I still wonder how this car can be street legal.
Such a cool car. The fact that the tachometer doesn't work was really bugging me! Also re: the short gearing, E36 gearboxes (ZF310/320) have such terrible ratios. Unless you got cams and springs ($$$$) and raised the rev limiter to 7,000rpm you drop below peak torque with the turbo every shift and 5th gear is 1:1 not even overdrive! When I had my turbo E34 it was so annoying to have to find a 2.93 diff for the highway miles. I had to have an E30 diff put in an E34 case because I don't think 2.93 LSD was ever in any E34s. It was just unacceptable to me to be over 3,000rpm at 75mph though so I had to do it, 3.23 wasn't enough. 6 speed swap was too expensive.
Better than all the modern EV sterile slop by a country mile. More of this please.
EV is better.
Granpa EV is so much better but this bem is a gem

As an owner of a 550+ hp e30 i can tell you this car with a proper longer gearing will be way faster in all ways
You just needed two more gears, that car can do 300km/h easy 🤯
