When it comes to Emulation of old titles just running them at 60fps and at 1080p is more than enough to clean them up and breath new life into them. and depending on the game any resolution higher than that can actually bring out more flaws than you want to see. But 1080P on everything up to Dream Cast/PS3/XBox is perfection.
Agreed. I have specs very similar to what's in the video (including a 1660 Super from MSI) and 1080p is the highest I go. Some games look good at 4K, but it's unflattering for most games, since they weren't designed to run at that resolution.
I have tried fiddling around a bit with a gtx960 and ps2 emulation... Best settings for it are 1440p with light AA scaled down to 720p because anything higher it won't run at 60fps. So you need a bit faster gpu for instance do 2160p scaled down to 1080p. Downscaling a in high resolution rendered game really makes look some games great!
As always, really great content. I'd love to see more how it's actually done in the emulation side instead of the hardware side. I've been building PC's since 92 and put together my first raspberry pi build because of your content, but getting the software to run is my biggest issues with these emulators. Thanks again for keeping us educated and Merry Christmas!
I just recently made a second PC with the h1 nzxt case and I love it. Has a ryzen 7 5800x and a 2070 super. I finally started to emulate stuff and been playing ps3 games I love it!!! Great vid!
BEST TH-cam video EVER !! Thank you for this video I've been waiting for. You just played PS2 as well as other games. That's what I've been looking for. Now it's time for me to save money and get that unit
Thanks brother. Don't know if I should praise you or curse you. After living 20 years in the middle of no where . I am back in a city and I have tech parts everywhere. When I lived in the desert I had car parts , etc. You have given a 50 year old nerd something to tinker with. City people dont like enigines. lol Enjoy the holidays. Keep putting out the good product.
Couple corrections; only the first Bayonetta is on PC, the second one is Nintendo only. Also, GoW3 is 30fps on the original console, so I'd guess it's not listed as playable because it still has crashing or graphical issues, that performance you showed is better than the original game.
I have the twin fan zotac rtx 3070. A lot of power for the size. It is in a case which is less than ten liters total volume. If I didn't have the gpu side panel off, I wouldn't believe that a full desktop 3070 could even fit, let alone run good.
Versatility is cool, but I'd love to see something made without 'any' consideration of not only PC gaming, but also upscaling. Like what would it take to run emulation at native resolution with 0 performance issues?
Well, are you trying to figure out the bare minimum? Or just see how crazy you can get? Also when you say native resolution do you mean of the console or the monitor? It don’t take much to play the NES at native resolution 😂 Honestly, it’s a pretty boring answer but it’s the most obvious one, just get the best of everything. Unless they make parts SPECIFICALLY for emulating, obviously the rtx 3090 or 6900xt is going to perform better than the 3060 or 6700xt. My goal is to save up enough to, truly, go over the top and build the best *consumer* pc.
hi Eta Prime a really very good video. and that you put all the emulators on 4k is really great you should always do so.I hope when the rtx 3050 desktop comes that it has enough power to be able to play the whole emulators on 4k. wish you people happy holidays. Greetings from germany
What configuration can be use for a similar PC, only aiming for 1080p and not 4k? Thank you for your videos from this year and i wish you all the best for the ntew year.
probably a 1070 would be more than enough. i use a 1070 for 1440p emulation and haven't had any problems. although ive only used it for ps1 and some ps3 games like skate 3.
I have a lenovo legion 5 laptop from last year with a 4800H and 1660ti, it runs everything I throw at it 1080/60 including PS3 and switch. Aim for 6c/12t at least, good cooling and a 6gig vram gpu
Does any emulator use more than 200% in total of the CPU cores? You might consider the more than half of the prize cheaper Intel 10105F in a build like this if it doesn't use the multiple cores well enough as I suspect. Even with the Xbox 360 emulation most is done on the gpu I suppose ?
Yes,Xenia is entirely GPU Bound with barely any CPU use. It consumes hefty amount of VRAM too,the minimum specs are atleast an RTX 2070 or above. Even an RTX 3090 with 99% usage can't hit 30FPS on Red dead redemption at 4K on Xenia.
Just recently got a gaming PC, 4070ti, 1000w power supply and 16GB ram. And I'm so excited to emulate games like you are. New to this gaming PC life, but I think my specs should be good
Throw Arch Linux on the thing (Manjaro would be great), and you've got yourself an amazing Linux system for better emulation performance, plus Proton for all your Steam games.
I think i have to move to a new Tiger Lake laptop. My i7-4700MQ is a bottleneck for Switch and PS3, i haven't tested CEMU, amazing on Citra, but i have problems with stutters that would be gone by better multithreading on the emulator, it would be possible since a version of the 3DS came with a quad core CPU. The game i was playing in CITRA was Pokémon USUM, despite the weird stutters, i have bugs with the emulator's controls, runs at 60fps and even higher but the terrible multithreading makes it stuttery and messy.
Ooh I’d love something like this! I really hope to get something small enough that I can fit it on a desk and look good but have plenty of power. This would be really really nice to have ☺️ I hope to transition to a super clean minimalist desk setup as clean as I can get it like no cables in sight.
I bought an HP Pavilion 15 gaming laptop on black friday. The one with the gen 10 I5 and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650. I love it. It emulates everything flawlessly. I have every console up to the Wii U. Haven't emulated PS3 yet but I know it can do it easily because I've been testing it's limitations with modern games and it even runs modern games very well. But I've always wanted an all in one console that can have everything. The HP Pavilion 15 definitely is a great portable emulation machine.
You're looking around 1000-1300 dollars if you get everything new I think. But you are effectively building a pretty high spec gaming PC here. Personally I found a Dev mode series S was the most cost effective option but it lacks cool stuff like launchbox or just using a dedicated emulation gaming OS.
@@WinstonDreadmore using a Xbox series for emulation you loose power from it using retroarch it’s a known thing that happens in general for retroarch. 1080p is fine….as long as you don’t care about convincing CRT mask emulation shaders. In that case 4K is preferred.
Yes yes..
That PC looks amazing..looking forward to more great emulation video from you in the future.
Bayonetta 2 is actually exclusive to Nintendo consoles (Wii U, Switch). It’s published by Nintendo as well (first one was published by SEGA)
yea ETA might have mistaken it for Bayonetta 1, which indeed has been remastered for PC.
