    Awesome video! Is there a difference in ground clearance from the stock setup to the long tube exhaust? Thank you

    • @TrackPackRT
      @TrackPackRT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and no. The headers sit lower than the stock manifolds do at the collector but that pretty much just lines up where your mid pipes would be anyway. I did scrape a few times going over some large speed bumps but that scrapage was back where the high flow cats connected to the cat back exhaust and I realized it was the bolt up clamps that were supplied with the kit. I had the ears of the clamps facing down as initially it was easiest to bolt them that way. After that I rotated them so they were parallel with the ground and higher than the bottom of the exhaust pipe anyways and haven’t had a scrape since.

Also it's great to see another Canadian producing Mopar content!

    • @TrackPackRT
      @TrackPackRT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to hear, thanks for the kind words! No problems with any rubbing with my exhaust, the only thing I did a week or 2 after the initial header install was rotate my clamps so they were facing parallel to the road instead of up and down. I haven't finished watching, but investing in some flex head ratchet wrenches would make this easier from what I've seen...? Seems sockets and regular or cordless ratchets interfere with tight spaces. GearWrench is what I use.
    Good Video, tho Man!

    • @TrackPackRT
      @TrackPackRT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Swivels definitely helped on a couple of them, after doing them a second time when I installed my cam I found even going down to a 1/4” drive ratchet and 1/4” drive socket saved a fair bit of space too that made some spaces more manageable to tighten. Some bolts you just have to be a little creative on. Haha

  • @rhandbhf4ever

      That’s the biggest thing. Swivels and extensions. I also had a couple different sized deep sockets that helped. Having done it twice now there are spots where a quarter inch drive ratchet would come in handy to save extra space.

    • @TrackPackRT
      @TrackPackRT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a couple bolts on that passenger side that are extremely hard to thread. The second time I did it (when I had my heads off doing my cam) I found some of these more difficult ones were easier for me to tackle from the top of the engine. There’s a couple that are easy to start on the passenger side that will hold the header and gasket in place leaving your hands free to tackle the tough ones in the middle.

      The gains are huge with long tubes, I feel like it should be everyones first mod on their Challenger. It makes it feel like a totally different car, pulls really hard and sounds amazing! Didn't try without a tune, I made sure I had one done right away. If you don't have a tune with headers your knock sensor will mistake the sound of the headers for detonation and start pulling timing negating the gains you made and throwing a code. I'd say give it a shot, you can definitely do it yourself!

      Yep they aren’t wrong. After you’ve done it a few times I’m sure you could get it a little faster, maybe shave an hour off, but expect to spend 8-10 hrs on it if you can easily get your manifold bolts off. If they’re rusted bad it could be on the heavier side of 10 hrs. It doesn’t really matter either if they’re shorty, long tube or just replacing the stock manifolds, the bolts are equally as hard to access for the most part, they’d be close to the same install time.

      You have to remove the bracket and tube because it's held on by one of the top manifold bolts on the passenger side. You take it off when the stock manifold comes off and then you replace it when you install the header.

I'm pretty sure mine were made in the US, got them off the speedlogix site I believe. I just thought it was strange that in the Stainless Works instructions it was telling me to do a bunch of steps that we unnecessary to do. Swivels are lifesavers for doing headers! BTW did I mention I like your intro music, well I do. Looks like Speedlogix list the budget SW headers under Stainless Power SHM64HDROR and the USA made as Stainless Works HM64HDROR. No dis intended on your purchase or install. I personally would probably go with the cheaper headers because well, I'm cheap or should I say budget minded within reason. I guess if I was really cheap I would go with knockoff ebay headers but I'm not that cheap. I believe in doing headers only one time! All things being equal even exact parts and cars will have variances and not all will have the same experience and of course not all have the same skills or the ability to hold their tongue just right! I'm sure no doubt you had plenty of tools to accomplish the task otherwise you wouldn't have. Just saying the swivel/flex ratchet type wrenches are a lifesaver when doing headers or many other jobs. What kinda flanges did you use to connect the mids to the headers?

    • @TrackPackRT
      @TrackPackRT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The kit comes with some big end bolt on couplers that attach everything. Same as what's holding your mids to your factory catback stock.

    Did you have check engine light on ?

    • @TrackPackRT
      @TrackPackRT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't but I immediately started data logging and got an email tune done to make sure it was running right before I really drove it around. The only thing that gave me check engine light was when I installed a cooler thermostat later on!

      Track Pack R/T yeah I added a 180 thermostat but haven’t gotten a check engine light yet
