The Locked Room Mysteries is GIGANTIC! And you’re gonna get through two TBR selves?! I have faith in you though! You got this!
Haha, I'm unlikely to get through both shelves completely but I'll give it a good go!! Yeah, the locked room book is basically like a massive textbook 😂
I agree. I love having unread books on my shelves and options in my own home. It is comforting. But I do not have any unread ones on my shelves over about 3 years old and I’m making my way through them all. I’ve been reading a lot of British women writers from the 30’s -60’s most of which I have picked up used. I’m also reading old mysteries. I’m only picking up the rare new book from the library and I don’t buy any new bestseller type books. I’m only buying my old stuff that I’ll be happy to read again. I enjoyed your video and look forward to hearing more.
Thanks for watching! That sounds like an interesting reading project. I do like to have books on my shelves that I will revisit in future.
Love and Other Thought Experiments 😍One of my absolute favourites, and I rarely re-read, but I gave it another whirl for my book club in 2022 and got a lot out of it the second time around.
Great goals, and you of course know my favourite! So pleased you'll be joining in with the challenge ❤
(But you're right, the main goal is to enjoy what you're reading!)
Oh, that's good to hear about Love and Other Thought Experiments!
I have Commonwealth lined up for Ann-uary, I've been meaning to read it for a while now so it's nice to finally have the push to do so!
Thank you for joining in on the challenge! I don't think completing it is important. Instead, it should just be a tool to help you stay out of rut. I just joined Ben's challenge too, and now I am motivated to read one of my Anne Tyler books sitting on my shelf.
I think it's good for me to have some reading challenges to shape my reading a little with the flexibility to allow me to mood read.
Love these goals. I definitely want to continue to re-read as it just brings me so much joy. I am doing the Read Goods challenge too, so much fun❤
Goals are so useful to help you focus and like you said you don’t have be harsh on yourself about it. Good luck luck lovely you got this!! 💪
Thanks Charlie! I agree about re-reading, it just makes me so happy 😊
I loved We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves!! I should re-read that one. =) Love your short story goal - I'm similarly hoping to read more of them this year (I also love short stories).
I think We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves is going to be very enjoyable on a reread 😊
Great goals! I think reading from your shelves is really doable! and not setting an exact number goal, just generally half of the books you read, makes it less constraining. Hard DNFs should def count! I think buying and reading books counts, for sure!
I want to try and read more short stories this year as well.
The Tattoo Murder sounds good!
I like Ben's prompts!
Good luck with all your goals this year!
Thanks Mo! Hopefully my goals will give some structure to my reading but allow me a fair degree of flexibility.
Excellent goals, it will be fun to follow how it goes 😊
Sounds great good luck
6:58 STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND READ IT RIGHT NOW! 😅 ( *indoor voice* sorry for shouting, I got too excited. Read it when you want great characters and world building. It's light on plot.)
Love the reread goal and reading your owned tbr. Plus I've never heard of those challenges but I hope it's fun and you discover a hidden gem or two.
Haha, I knew before I checked which book this would be about 😂 I am definitely going to get to it soon!
My reading goals include:
Stephen King's Holly, Revival, It, and The Gunslinger.
Colson Whitehead's Harlem Shuffle, Crook Manifesto, and John Henry Days.
TM Logan's The Holiday and Trust Me.
Some other books on discounters, primarily psychological and literary fiction.
Great goals! I haven't read any of those books but I did recently read Misery by Stephen King for a book club and really enjoyed it!
@@jenniferlovesbooks try some of his short stories or novellas. You are gonna love them. Guaranteed!
As you mentioned that you like short stories.... I wonder, can you tell us what you like about them and how you approach them differently to regular novels?
As it happens, I recently picked up a second-hand copy of a selectin of Alice Munroe's short stories. So far I've read two. They're probably not quite my cup of tea, but it also got me thinking about short stories. When they're very, very short - I don't end up appreciating the individual ones. When they're longer (like 50-60 pages), I'm not as fulfilled as with novels.
So I wonder what your thoughts are? 🙂
I have a collection of Alice Munro's stories although I've not read any yet.
I like short stories as a palate cleanser between novels or if I'm not sure what I'm in the mood for or if my concentration is a bit low. I particularly like short stories with a bit of a twist in the tale because I find them really satisfying.
@@jenniferlovesbooks These are some good points, Jennifer. Thanks for sharing!
I had no idea you could freeze hold! oh boy, I’m gonna get right on that ❄️🧊❄️
Haha, I only found about freezing holds fairly recently, does your library let you do that too?
@@jenniferlovesbooks I can't find any info about it online (no surprises there), when I'm not snowed in I'll swing by and ask at the desk!
