I'm not a fan of award shows, but I'm all here for the Jennifer Loves Books Awards! I remember you talking about a lot of these during the year and this video reminds me to bump them up on my TBR!
I’m so glad Mrs S found a loving home ♥️ Lesbian Marmite is definitely the right category for that one, for some reason I was expecting something more like Cursed Bread! I Have Some Questions for You very nearly made my list and probably would’ve done on any other day, I just found it a smidge too long and that last part with the time jump felt oddly paced. definitely gonna pick up a copy of The Great Believers though, her writing style slaps 🔥
Yes, I definitely need to read more by Rebecca Makkai! I should maybe try to do this year, I know my library has more by the author, will have to check which ones.

I really wished I hadn’t watched the Jude the Obscure adaptation years ago as it caused me to miss out on the gut punch value of *that* moment. I’m glad it was a readalong though so I could hear others reactions to it as I was dreading it throughout knowing it was coming. I’d really like to get to Salt Slow. Oh yes to HP’s Silent Night getting the razzie. Plot was not its strong point. 😂 Love that there’s a weirdest book of the year award! 😊 I must remember to get hold of more John Dickson Carr. I love Life After Life so much and would happily reread it too. 😊📚 Brilliant awards video! 🎉
oh my gosh, no expense spared for these trophies! One day, I would love to see you present this award TO one of the authors! That would be amazing Also you're the second person today who's I've watched talk about Rouge! I love a weird book, I feel like I HAVE to pick it up now.
I listened to This Is Going to Hurt. I also did not like it. I ended up dnf. It made me feel really uncomfortable. It felt insensitive. So much hype and been adapted to screen! Good to know I'm not the only one who didn't like it. Love the idea of your JLB Awards 😃
I love that you already want to reread your fave. Only 4 five stars? Is that a dud year or are you just really stingy with 5s?😂 I think you convinced me to add Big Swiss but is that the one that doesn't use speechmarks?
I am pretty stingy with 5 stars! Maybe slightly fewer than usual although I did read fewer books so it probably balances out. I think Big Swiss has speech marks (but I could be wrong).... I know Mrs S definitely doesn't.
