Savage thoughts on Project Hail Mary! Although I agree that the science bits were too long and kind of boring. Even though I really liked it, it’s refreshing to see an alternate take on a book that is seemingly widely loved on Booktube!
You know I loved Hangman too and it was so interesting what you said about exploring the character’s agency and decisions/choices. There are are quite a few things discussed within the book and it covers them all so cleverly. I agree that Maya Binyam is complete control of what she was doing too. You read loads of interesting books in April . ❤
Love the clearing the shelves by DNFing technique- I did chuckle when you got to the bit where you’d got three to talk about from your shelves and had DNFed them all! 😂 Even I DNFed some in April yay! 🎉 I always hear about new to me crime books that sound exciting in your wrap ups- do you think I would like Simone St James or Anthony Berkeley? I’ve never read either of them. I am still thinking about Hangman on and off now. It made me so cross, but it did so many clever things. It’s so different and I think I admire such a lot that it does. I think people should stick with it too and only make up their minds at the end. I would reread it too, I think I would like it more without the element of “is she going to do that? Is that where this is going?” which I spent a lot of time thinking. 😊📚
I've just filmed a massive try a chapter video and let me tell you there is some impressive unhauling upcoming 😂 I'd recommend The Poisoned Chocolates Case by Anthony Berkeley, it's his most famous and probably a good place to start. It's classic style crime fiction so I think you'd like it. I've only read one other Simone St James, The Sun Down Motel, which I really enjoyed, it's more on the thriller mystery side but I think you'd probably like it. Worth a try from the library if you can. Hangman was such a stand out read for me, I'm already looking forward to rereading it!
Just got in He Who Whispers and The Word Is Murder based on your recommendations. Hope to start reading them this week. Glad to see I’m not the only one with several DNFs on the bookshelf! While I may not get the satisfaction of a good read as I expected, there is some release in purging out to make room for something new. As always, enjoyed your post.
It's a great feeling clearing out books that aren't working for you, stay tuned and I may have a lot of that coming very soon 😉 You'll have to let me know how you get on with both of the books!
thought I’d broken up with Ali Smith after the disaster that was my seasonal quartet reading, but I’ve recently been considering how much I enjoy books that play with duplicity and now I think I need to read How to Be Both. gonna go have a word with myself now!
Jennifer nooooo Project Hail Mary is incredible 😭 Another victim of JenniferDNFsBooks 😂 In the other hand, I also struggle with Ali Smith. And I’m sceptical that any copies exist with the historical storyline first - I swear everyone who has read it seems to have had the contemporary story first!
Hahaaaa, I actually should change my channel name to that 😅 Oh, interesting about the Ali Smith, I didn't realise there wasn't (seemingly) an even balance in the editions!
I loved Project Hail Mary so much I've reread it 3 times in the last few years. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it but we can still be friends. 😂 I've read 3 Simone St. James books: The Broken Girls, The Sundown Motel and The Book of Cold Cases. I heard that Murder Road didn't include much supernatural phenomena. Do you agree? I'm not sure if I'll pick it up. Great job getting through so many of your owned books!🎉
Haha, very pleased that we can still be friends 😂 There is definitely some supernatural stuff in Murder Road. The only other one I've read is The Sundown Motel which I really enjoyed. (The only reason I haven't yet read more is because my library doesn't have them).
Your video-making is very good. Your content ideas are very good. If you give me permission, I will share some information with you to increase the channel. You get lots of subscribe and views. Best regards, Have a great day! Thank you!

Haha, thank you! I hope I wasn't too harsh 🙈
I read a few woman’s prize which I loved. Brotherless night was a stand out favourite
I've heard lots of great things about Brotherless Night.

Thanks Charlie! I loved Hangman so much, definitely one for a reread at some point.
I really loved The Uncommon Reader as well! And I just put The Murder of My Aunt on hold!
The Uncommon Reader was such a delight! I hope you enjoy The Murder of my Aunt 😊

The Fat Lady Sings sounds interesting. I'll look it up in audible, it may be added to my wishlist or library sometime soon.
I thought it was really great, I hope you like it if you get to it!

@@jenniferlovesbooks ah, thank you so much! that sounds great ♥️
@@ameliabarlowbooks excellent! Message me your address 😊
I was the exact same way with Hail Mary! I like the Martian too. But did not care for Hail Mary. ❤
Glad it's not just me 😂
