Thank you for taking the time to share your colony with us i been following your vids for a while im going to work on a bin some time this week and will be ordering some roaches soon.
Nice setup. I kept mine in a 55 for a long time. One thing you want to watch for. The sealant in the corners of the tank. They will climb that, so even with a lid you still need to add the tape or something to keep them from getting all the way to the top. If you dont they will find a way out and end up in your house.
It's cute that they're in their little houses and not out in the open. I can't say I want to own them but it's amazing how they all become involved with their little homes. With that many roaches and that bowl full of fruit, I can see why it'd be gone fast. - Elysia
dude, you make the best vids. you got me into starting my own colonies. i have 3 seperate tubs. 2 indoor the breeder tanks, and the outside big colony where i feed out of. Thank you for your vids.
Just Brought my Roaches from roach ranch just now. i really hope there as good as you think. Thanks for the videos really helped me out a lot. I'm in my beginning stages of breeding bearded dragons. Trying to start my own family own business. A little something to pass on to my boys. Thanks a lot. Good inspiration!
lol you tell em!!! man i was terrified of spiders but your organization and passion just rubs off. now i want a p. regalis! i collect dart frogs and the fact that they swim amazes me i cant wait to create the coolest tank for my new lil buddy
Dude. If you're my neighbor damn... i a'm the freaking luckiest boy alive!! i really love your characteristics on how the way you treat your pets.. i mean, only special people on earth can do on what you're showing to us .. i mean.. really!!.. i love you men!!
It sounds like cascading water almost if you close your eyes ;w; i respect you so highly. I have terrible arachnid/some bug phobia and you're so confident and happy with your spiders and your roaches!! You sir have talent with these creatures and I give you many thumbs up! Keep doing what your'e doing--because you're doing great.
rob....your videos are the best on youtube. i love them and your dedacation to the hobby. and i would love to meet you.. and not in a creepy way i think your a very interesting gentleman. nice work mate keep it up.
very cool man. you have a passion for your animals and seem like a nice genuine guy including your family in this. but question, any way to keep the population under control so that you have just enough to use as feed? or do they naturally grow out of control?
My daughter is slightly panicked about having feeder roaches in the basement. Must get her to watch a few of your videos for my son-in-laws (breeder of bearded dragons) sake! :D
Since I'm not a big arachnid/reptilian enthusiast, it's interesting to see how their food is produced. Though it's very unsettling to me to see such a thing, it gives someone insight as to how the market works when it comes to caring for pet. Never would I come within a 100 yards of a roach farm...
Love all of your videos man! Not a fan of tarantulas though haha I can handle a beardie and a chameleon but I can muster up the guts to hold a tarantula. I will get over it. Anyway holy shit!! That is nuts man, I just started my own colony hopefully I get half the results you do! Keep up the vids man!
i would really hate to imagine a scenario where one of your kids or any of their friends goes running around & BANG...there goes the glass tank & tens of thousands of roaches all over your house. that would be a nightmare & a lot of traumatizations. may i suggest several tupperwares, with lock lids, for different sizes of roach i.e., babies, juveniles, breeding adults? life would be so much easier when it's time to sort out the right size roach for each of your pets. keep up with the good vid's!
I breed dubias aswell, starting to sell I got so many lol things breed fast!Lot of people are creeped out by them but thats just cause they dont understand them. They hear the word "roach" and assume its like the house pest type.Well dubias aren't pest roaches people!!Only a very small % of all roach species are pests.Yes,there are good roaches people lol Anyway, love your videos man, your inspiring me to get a T and LOVE your pitbull video you did.Your a good man.Take care brotha
While personally I'm a bit of an arachnophobe and much of what yo do makes me cringe, my ten year old daughter and I watched several of your videos, especially the series where you tried to save Sammy and we developed a great deal of respect for you and the passion you have towards your hobby and your eight legged friends.
I wished they'd stay nymphs forever lol...cute little guys when they're nymphs! :P Also love how these guys don't bite. I'm not sure if they technically can...but I've sure never been bit by one.
loved the vid. I thought roaches were better but my mom thinks theyre "gross" and most of the roach is shell so they dont get as much food as with the crix. Opinion?
Hey Rob, in regards to the roaches, I have a plastic bin that I'm going to use for my colony, is it safe to place the heat pad on the bottum of the bin? Does it matter where exactly it is that I place it? And when you feed the Dubia's the crushed up cat food, how often are you supposed to do this? Thank you for every explanation to every question any of us curious subscribers have for you! On the behalf of everyone, we really appreciate it!
I use to have a colony of hissing roaches but I got rid of my pixie frog so I sold all my roaches. They tend to hiss a lot more with a heat pad under the tank then without the heat pad. I would just feed mine cat food and fruit. I just put olive oil on the sides of the tank so they could not climb.
the babies look like rolly-pollies!! but quick question, would it be a bad idea to feed a roach to a leopard gecko? its 7 years old and male. Pretty healthy
One of the worst ways to die is to watch your home and everything you own burn all around you, while cockroaches lit on fire enter through your mouth and into your innards. When they open you up to find the cause of death, hundreds of surviving cockroaches scatter out, the only thing that you owned that is still alive. You shall then become the god of roaches, your shattered, broken soul living within each insect that has survived your fate. They shall carry on your legacy.
Dude, I am terrified of spiders and such, I live in New Zealand we have maybe 2 poisionus spiders and nothing bigger than a 50cent coin but I have to say after stumbling on your channel I have a new found respect for them... that could be because I will never come across one here at the bottom of the world but thank you for showing your passion for these crawly creatures. This vid with the roaches did freak me out thou ; p
+Snipercube white tails are our worst spider, they are small and poisonous like your leg may fall off if you get a bite but they are few and far between. nz really have no scary as ones here no snakes or huge scary things at all we are pretty sweet here at the bottom of the world
You have venomous spiders, not poisonous. Common mistake/misunderstanding. ALL spiders are venomous. Thats how they eat. The venom breaks down insect tissue and makes into a nice protein smoothie for them to suck out. Its a very common mistake with snakes too, as there is only 1 species of snake that is actually poisonous, because of a toad they eat typically in their diet that makes them dangerous if eaten (poisonous).
Beautiful: work dude! Just for know (I don"t know if you say it in the video, I have a very bad english), with how many roach you have started this impressive colony? And how old is this colony? I started a colony of 150 adults (B.dubia) for my own pleasur in one hand and feeding my ants colony in the other hand :).
Great.... I just ordered 500+ from Gig and I have 40 mouths to feed. You should've told me that you're gonna be selling them!!! I was looking to buy massive quantities for a couple of months now!!
Yes you are right, my nightmare is in this video.............. really brave of u to keep that amt of roaches , i cannot even stand looking at a picture of it.. let alone have like 10000 of them in my house...
I have two bearded dragons and I would LOVE to feed them something more nutritious than crickets but... I have to admit, the thought of cockroaches makes me shudder! If I could overcome my aversion to them, I know that my dragons would be much happier. How did you become so comfortable with them or was it just a small step from your comfort zone to move from spiders to roaches?
Do you just keep adults and the babies all in one tank? Im looking to start a dubia colony because i will ahve a beardy soon and dont want to spend alot of phoenix worms and prob wont feed much crickets cuz i hate them . I can get cheep fish tanks
hey man i think your super awesome and u inspired me to start a colony man,but i just got some lobster roaches, would u know how long it would take for them to have babies?
Im going to be real honest, I hate roaches with a passion, where I am at. those fuckers are AT LEAST 4-5 INCHES LONG and FLY up to 10 feet at you. Open any manhole cover and the walls move with those things, Anyway, you mentioned in your video that all those roaches will eat all that food in about an hour, would be cool to see a timelapse of that. Just sayin.
how long it usely take for them too breed good enough too feed 2 every weekend to 3 bearded dragons so 6 an week how long would it take if i got 10-20 of them and are they loud and all friendly msg me some info on the them........
I'm fairly new for taking care of pets, but I really like your videos (R.I.P. Sammy). I have a couple of salamanders that the family found in our backyard and we feed them small crickets. Whenever we go out to buy cricket, there is always a carton in it (like a section of an egg carton). Why do crickets and roaches like the cartons?
Dubia roaches aren't invasive. They are relatively clean compared to some of the pets you feed them to. These are not common house roaches. They are closer related to wood roaches.
That was really Interesting. In a good way, Honestly I have a Nasty habit of Search and Destroy, whenever a roach is out and about. But this has enlightened my perspective. . . Hey Tarantulaguy i was wondering whats going on with your store? your vids got me into T's and i now own a P.metallica. I wanted to see what all you have to offer besides great vids!
that sound... rain will never help me sleep again.
Lol
😭
It would suck if the tank fell over
Lol
+firekid88000 That would mean he would have to burn his house down.
+future Marine Michael im sure he would make it someone's problem the steps i would do freak out sell the house and go to a different state
lol
or he might let he tarantulas eat them
Sounds like it's raining.
Relaxing, huh?:D
@@bububububak ye
Dude, you can't show a full bowl of fruit, say that they will make disappear in an hour and not show, at least, a fast video of the feat.
At least once a month I find myself back here, listening to the soothing sound of fifty-five gallons of roaches. Like a brisk summer evening rain.
Thank you for taking the time to share your colony with us i been following your vids for a while im going to work on a bin some time this week and will be ordering some roaches soon.

very cool man. you have a passion for your animals and seem like a nice genuine guy including your family in this. but question, any way to keep the population under control so that you have just enough to use as feed? or do they naturally grow out of control?
This guy is awesome! Haha, I never thought I'd ever say that to someone who raises their own roaches and owns countless tarantulas.
My daughter is slightly panicked about having feeder roaches in the basement. Must get her to watch a few of your videos for my son-in-laws (breeder of bearded dragons) sake! :D

I can attest to Ian and his supply of dubias. I bought them last July and the colony is booming now.
Rob you have the coolest wife, I dont think many people would call a baby roach cute lol
I heard you don't have to really give them gel water. The moisture from the fruits and veggies is enough. what do you think?
this dude just took a huge rip off a light bulb ... dues high asf ...
That's my mom's worst nightmare!
It took two months to convince her that 100 roaches isn't a bad idea
Bloody hell Rob thats insane lol. "They can flutter down *lets go, splat* oh, they usually flutter down" lmao =D
it would be so cool if you filmed a time lapse of the roaches devouring the bowl of fruit!
thank you for the heads up on the egg flats

Potter Son Roaches aren't arachnids though.
Yes, I am aware of that. Like I said, my daughter and I watched many of your spider related videos, I just happened to leave feedback on this one.
I wished they'd stay nymphs forever lol...cute little guys when they're nymphs! :P

What a banquette for my frilled dragon! :) Thumb up
i like how in the begining while hes talking you can just hear them moving around
Hard to tell if its heavy rain or the tank.
OMG!!! I like roaches, but when you handle them, I hate how they cling to your hand with those big spines on their legs LOL.
A ..roach ..ranch. Wow, I would never have thought of roaches being valuable, or that you could sell them.
@3:23 It would be funny if he drop the aquarium sideways and all hell breaks loose :D

Certain roach species can fly, that's for sure. I remember picking up a nymph this afternoon on my finger and it flew off.
You have my nightmare in your basement and you put your hands in there to pickup some of it man.

Knowledgeable and humble, nice and informative vid bro
For those egg cartons, did you glued them together or just stacked them in?
Im going to be real honest, I hate roaches with a passion, where I am at. those fuckers are AT LEAST 4-5 INCHES LONG and FLY up to 10 feet at you. Because he is a spider breader and has a massive collection of spiders, this is what he feeds them with.
great video man. i like that. roaches really dont smell bad at all?
Dude your so entertaining and informative. Keep up the good work.
Hey rob, how often do you clean the cage and how do you get them all out? By hand?
So jus curious are these the same as ur normal house roaches tree an wood roaches ? An u mentioned oranges make them breed more ?
Haha. "He can actually flutter..." *drop* "Eh, they usually flutter." That got me laughing. The poor cricket.
did you go to the reptile show in LA this year?
cool video man i been watching your video for a long time ... now i have my own hugh dubuia colony now
I would never bring roaches in to my house, and you have a whole colony.
I'm sorry to ask this but where did you get the egg crates i cant find the site you mention in the video that or I'm just stupid
what is the difference between roach and cockroach? and what do you feed them?
Are those gel things just polyacrylamide? Or are they a specific "brand" of.
Hi Rob!!=o) Awesome video!! Damn thats alot of roaches!!=o)
Great video!!
Dubia roaches aren't invasive. They are relatively clean compared to some of the pets you feed them to. These are not common house roaches. They are closer related to wood roaches.
I would love to see a time lapse of these guys eating! I mean, that's a lot of food.
What do you gutload your roaches with
what brand of cat food do you feed roaches?
im kinda worried about those cat food with high calcium content, coz i also breed roaches for my T's
Picture if you accidentally knocked over the tank...
Lol
Noumenon That would not be fun 😂
Noumenon every single roach would die within 2 weeks or so. They will not infest your home. Wrong environment .
