You're the man, Rob! I'll be selling T's for the first time. I was panicking a bit about this. I really want to say thanks. Thanks a bunch! This video takes the weight right off of my shoulders. I've been denied help already on this issue, so you really are the futha muckin man!!
Excellent video. Helped tremendously in assuring proper packing. I want to make sure my t's arrive alive and this video makes me feel confident they can and will. Thanks you!
I used to be a ramp agent for a major airline; the dude that loads your luggage in the belly of the plane. Take it for what it is, I would NEVER put a fragile label on anything I wanted treated with care. When Rob shows how a carrier handles a shipment, he's not kidding. He is spot on when he says "Fragile means throw it". I've watched LOTS of shipments get thrown, kicked, even ran over because its marked "Fragile".
I agree with you one hundred percent. I also worked for this same company as a package handler... When things need to be packed, jams occur on the line and people are rushing, the lack of care for rather light packages is pretty astounding. I'm surprised anything survives the way that it does, but I'm ordered some tarantulas through them and everything's still been just fine.
i love it that your whole family is in on the hobby. great bonding moments. you guys really enjoy this. thanks. looking forward to more videos as always. p.s. rosea is gravid, albopilosum still isnt showing gravid signs
Subscribed, I never considered getting a T as a pet, however after watching your videos and seeing your passion for these creatures has me considering undertaking it. I will be sure to do plenty of research about how to care for and what would be the pest T for me to get for my first one, but this is something I am going to take a serious look into.
Neat! I showed my mom this video. She was very curious how my tarantulas would get packed and shipped. I might just get 2-4 P. irminia slings sometime this month. Will wait on getting any pokies, not that I'm afraid of them, but I am afraid of my mom and she would not like one of those in her house! X-D Your wife's a champ I'd say!
I'm in management at an unnamed parcel service(u.p.s.) and I know for a fact that no one has the time to pay attention to the stickers on the boxes, but to give you some insight on shipping T's better we take REALLY good care of next day packages.
adding to favorites lol! Can you get your wife to do a tutorial on her techniques on using the moss and how she dresses up her water dishes? That vid would be a hit i know for a fact! anywho hope to see it soon!
i worked for UPS, i was a sorter. we sorted the boxes to conveyor belts according to zip code after they come off the trucks and they really dont care. they throw boxes around especially small light ones
Hey Rob! I love your all videos, but sometimes I can't understand, what do you say, 'cause my english is crappy ^^' Can you tell me what is that thing what u put in the box? I think you called it "cold pack" or what. What does it do? How is it works? Where can I buy it? Really thank you for helpful videos! P.s.: Sorry about the faults of spelling ^^'
hey i recognize that catch cup :D LOL. great tutorial rob, this'll be great for the newbies in the hobby. great job. where do you get the fragile stickers from?
i just found your channel, i love spiders, but i noticed you said you are from st louis just thought it was neat (presuming you mean st louis mo) i live in the metro east
lol. that was quick! i havent finished watching this video. is there a possibility of getting RCF rosies if only the male is RCF? the famale is normal brown. thanks man.
When you pack the tarantula like this, how long do you expect them to be there? can they stay in a small box like this for a couple of days? I am bringing my tarantula on a trip where I have to drive for 13 hours, and can I pack her like you did with the container WITHOUT the box and the styrofoam and all that? So I can just hold the container in my hands. Btw I'm not the one driving ;)
hey. ive spoken to the authorities on both sides of the pond, LAX/Heathrow and the species I have back home in cali are fine to ship. but apperently none of the shipping compnies like UPS, FedEx etc say that they would do it. so what company do you use to ship your T's? Thanks.
Awesome video Rob!!=O) Where can i buy heat/coldpads??=o) I have to move soon and will use this method here when I pack my T`s down!=o) How do you pack a glas-terrarium down if your gonna move, is it just the same metod or do you have a better advice ?=o) THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO!!=o) *****
hell yeah they throw the boxes around like a football. I have a friend that use to work for a shipping company and he told me its all about speed how fast they can load up the track. fragile don't mean nothing to them.
I bought a heat rock for my tarantula and I heard mixed things about it, I mean if It was hot wouldn't it just get off? I also have a heat pad, (not using it at the same time) but it doesn't stick well and I'm not actually sure if it is working well. I have a 20Gallon I think or 30G for my rose hair. Let me know anyone please! Thanks!
i travel for a living, i do have a few questions about owning a tarantula that i cant find on the internet. i work with the ren faire and stay within a state for about 2 month before going to a new one. i want a tarantula mainly because i love them, secondly because they are cheaper to care for than say a cat. i live in a tent but often can get access to electricity if needed. 1. would you recommend packaging them completely or just within the tupper when i go to a new state? 2. how would the tarantula handle moving from state to state? (most states i visit do not go to high elevations) 3. how long should i let the spider adapt to the new environment before i feed it? 4. because many of the states i visit are in the south do you think it would be required to get a heating lamp or could i rely on the environment to keep it warm? if there is any more information that you can think of that you feel would be helpful i would love to hear it
im more concerned with the consistent moving from state to state, its still a wild animal and living outside wont kill it. the only thing i would worry about is when temperatures get low, but even then im not too worried since they live outside
Moving and inconsistent environments cause severe stress on T's. It sounds like your living situation causes inconsistent temperatures. Not healthy for the animal.
If you can provide really consistent temps and be very careful when moving I would say go for it, but if not I wouldn't recommend it. Make sure you can have electricity and be very delicate when it's molting. Good luck!
I luaughed when you just showed us how they just throw the box, its funny, and thanks for info, really hopeful, mybe ill buy a nice looking female from yoi, Rod, do you have a facebokk account, if you do, add me.
hell yes fragile means throw it around. i bought a guitar off ebay from a guy who had sold me 3 or 4 before. i got every single one prior to that. but the most expensive one i bought arrived it 3 pieces. How the fuck do you break a guitar in shipping? well even though it wasnt his fault he replaced it and used a different shipping company.
LMAO..u said moisture helps to keep it firm and your wife said that's what she said..hahaha...p.s. right after that u pick the container up and show her face..LoL

You should get a sponsorship with whatever paper towel brand you use; it looks like you probably use a whole pallet of them yearly right? lol

clayton van yorx, If you live in a tent, I wouldn't recommend having a Tarantula, for the animal's sake.
im more concerned with the consistent moving from state to state, its still a wild animal and living outside wont kill it. the only thing i would worry about is when temperatures get low, but even then im not too worried since they live outside

thats more the information i was looking for, because i work with the renaissance festival and would love a tarantula in the shop
