Hi! Off-topic question sorry, but was triggered by “West Sacramento” coupled with seemingly a thing, an itch, an affinity for, just something, I have for the Sacramento Northern Railroad. I walk trails on the former SN right of way and my question is what was the industry in the town, or township of Oxford that warranted a spur constructed 10 miles beyond Clarksburg; subsequently, when did it cease operation? No biggie, just curious if anyone knows. Cheers. PS took some pics of Lisbon? trestle remnants sticking out of the water while dog walking in the Arcade area.
LOL. Been retired for a bunch of years but that is the Port Job. There is no Folsom Local as the Placerville Branch ends just beyond Hazel Ave and the rest is paved over so ya can't get to Folsom anymore! I think the furthest they go is the Aerojet Spur into Mather
@@GrumpyOldRailroader Thanks for the reply! Apparently, they still call it the Folsom Turn, though. In the '90s, Southern Pacific was still calling their version of this train the Placerville Local (or something like that), even though it barely reached Folsom by then. UP seems to be using one crew to do the work that used to be done by several local jobs.
@Bones_Jr. I'm still in touch with Bob Pimm and Ray Belloumoni. I commuted to the Bay Area for 20 years so had a lot of friends there. Mike Magazin got my niece on years ago and she is working someplace on the east coast
Really like that horn.

So the Folsom Turn works West Sacramento now?

@Bones_Jr. Times have changed I guess. I actually worked both the old Pville Turn and the Folsom Turn back in the previous century.
@@GrumpyOldRailroader Respect. I just hit 24 years as a conductor with Amtrak out of Sacramento.
