You can actually delay the ash of war's second hit fairly significantly, even after your character starts lowering the weapon. Anyone who's fought someone who's pulled that mixup on them will never fall for it a second time, though
Chase, I’d love to see a Dragonscale Blade weapon showcase. The ash of war has an aoe lightning effect that catches people off guard, it’s actually pretty good

Would love to see a showcase for the Black Knife. Decent move set even though its a dagger and a very good weapon art if it lands, but even if your opponent i-frames the weapon art beam the DOT burn effect can still hit them through their roll.
People tend to panic when they see they’re health slowly draining and you can punish them very well if they do.
You could also pair it with the Blade of Calling as it is also a faith-dex dagger. The powerstancing of daggers is pretty underrated. Blade of Calling also basically has the same weapon art as the Black Knife but without the DOT so you can switch up the use of the two weapon arts effectively since they have the same animation.
At +10 the Black Knife gets a B in dex and a C in faith.
At +10 the Blade of Calling gets a B in faith and C in dex.
So with a split dex and faith investment you can really take advantage of powerstancing them and not many people use daggers in general, let alone powerstance them so it would be fairly unique and perhaps a challenge…
Although Chase is so good at this game that I doubt it would be a challenge😂
Poise kinda invalidates dual daggers.
I know it’s a meme, but genuinely, just parrying makes dual daggers low tier
One thing I really like about curved great swords in general is the tracking on the jumping heavy is insane, the only weapon I've seen my character do a full 180 from the direction of their jump to the slam down
Even when it doesn't track it's great because the hitbox swings behind you after landing.
Halberds can do something similar

Any chance you could also show off, not necessarily use, the charged R2 and second R2 of some weapons? some have really unique moves compared to the rest of the classes, like the GodskinPeeler's 1 and 2 handed moves. Just gives a little extra variety to a few weapons ^_^

Amazing vid as always! One thing I’ve found with that (esp when power standing it with bloodhounds fang) if people are aggressive and you miss with the first part of the ash of war, they often don’t expect the second part, so they’ll try to come in to attack and get hit with it. I’d love to see the guardian’s sword spear next!
A recommendation for a weapon showcase, the Death Ritual Spear. Its a Dex and Int scaling spear with a very unique and surprisingly powerful ash of war that is absolutely deserving of more attention and could really use some love.

I absolutely love this weapon. I used this and Bloodhound Fang in a powerstance in my first playthrough, and it absolutely tore through slow bosses like Godskin Duo or Fire Giant. Glad to see the weapon get the love and attention it deserves. Also, seeing you use the weapon is a pleasure as always. Hope to see more underrated weapons in the future, such as the Hand of Malenia, or the Bolt of Gransax.

I have been loving these weapon showcases! I might try Morgott's sword on my PvP character. The aggression looks super fun, and with the curved swords the tarnished doesn't hit the ground as much.
Keep up the good work! I'm always impressed by your skills. You should have a small tally in the corner for how long your winstreak is. Have you thought about testing the Black Knife (Black Blade?) dagger? It has a good AoW from what I have seen.
This dual wielded with the Bloodhoud Fang is a great combo, alternating powerful mobile weapon arts, super high l1 damage, high bleed rate. Maybe you can consider using both for a few fights during the Bloodhound Fang showcase?

plus you can buff bloodhound fang with unseen blade. Make it invisible and the enemy will never see the weapon art coming.
The moveset for power-stanced curved greatswords sucks though, it's better to just use one.
@@Adrian-ub3yz If you have the carrying capacity, you can put them both in the right hand slot and alternate them to catch people off guard with different weapon arts, that way you get both arts without the whole shitty power stance moveset.

I love the way the sword looks with the blues and deep reds. So good. I loved using that weapon on my arcane build. Game was still pretty new and not too many people seen that ash of war. Enjoying the weapon showcases.
Awesome video as always! May I make a recommendation for whips or hammers (since they haven't been featured yet)? The Giant's red braid is a good STR whip with an interesting ash of war. The Box flowing hammer is also awesome for the speed at which it's R1's come out (more akin to a straight sword?) And the way it's L2 gives it so much AoE and Range.

Definitely my favourite weapon for my first playthrough of the game, i played a bandit, thinking that arc would be a dump stat, but i was shortly proven wrong with this amazing weapon, and then Eleonora's Poleblade! Absolutely my favourite curved greatsword in the game, i adored it's looks originally, and then fell in love with it's ash of war, it even let me dodge a LOT of stuff with how it played with it's L2.

Chase try the Carian Knight's Sword. The R2 is a deflect that blocks attacks and then releases the slash. So if you charge the R2, it acts as a shield that can interrupt someone attacking you. It's pretty damn cool

Would love to see the Guardian Swordspear! Never see anyone use it and when I would watch stream it doesn’t get much love either. My favorite Dex weapon! Flame Strike or Sword dance is a killer ash of war as well! Love the show case!
Have you tried showcasing the falling star beast jaw? Or the death ritual spear paired with the founding rain of stars, lusats staff on the left hand. Two of my favourites!! But I’ve been using the starscourge great sword 2h as of late. Such awesome ashes! Great video man, love the showcase vids!
I love the magma wyrm scalesword. The follow up on the ash of war seems to catch people off guard and it seems to do a lot of damage. I'm new to elden ring and not good at pvp or min/maxing, but it seems to work well for me.

How do you pump out so many builds? Are you doing speed runs to get your levels up and then dropping gear from another character to it? (It seems like there are more rebuilds than there are available mats for the respec)

Great showcase. Good option with the extra arcane. Although you might not proc bleed, there is also the psychological impact on the opponent of their bleed meter being higher. Much more useful than 10 AR.

I haven't tried it in pvp, but one thing that came in to mind with the curved great sword crouch attack; if you do that with an opponent a few times so that they recognise that animation, but then crouch and do a quick 360, probably tricking them into rolling and allowing you to punish it.
I've done it with with some weapons - crouching and tapping guard to get them to roll.
That said, I've only done pvp like... 10 times...
Was literally looking for smithing stones to upgrade this when you uploaded and the ash seems way better than I thought lol
I use this a lot in invasions and I think the one handed running heavy is probably its best standard move, very fast and a good curve for roll catching while still having the high damage of a heavy
You should try out some whips! Urumi was my weapon of choice during my first playthrough. Good damage, good range on R1s, and the Strong Attack has TONS of range. You can aim it really easily as well, so it's great for catching people off guard or during rolls.
11:00 that armor is the white reed set, which is in Spiritcaller's Cave in mountaintops.
11:05 that the white samurai armor, the set is on sumoner cave in the frozen lake in mountain tops

Such an underrated weapon. Had tons of fun with at launch. The Ash is so good and procs bloodloss very quickly if it doesn't outright kill via damage.
I don't know if this has already been mentioned but you should test the Elenoras poleblade because it is a very fancy weapon to use👍
I think a Godskin Peeler video would be really cool; the running strong attack is very good as well as the jumping attacks
Pairing this sword with a Sepukku Monk's Flameblade set to blood with the bleed talisman and mask works great. The flameblade is the only curved greatsword you can put sepukku on that scales primarily with Dex and Arcane, rather than a Strength and Dex split or primary on Strength. Makes it the ideal match for Morgott's weapon.
Id love to see the Trolls Roar Ash of war! It hits hard and has a slow but powerful follow up attack that knock people down! Also I never see anyone use it but my self so I find it really can catch people off by surprise at this time.
Something I’ve been wondering: the 2H r1s of the [banished] Knight Greatsword[s]-they sort of flow into each other in a unique way-does that moveset have any practical application , or is it mostly aesthetic?

But why? It's actually terrible. If the other person has any ranged options at all you just lose on the spot, because you're animation locked for several seconds with a whopping 450 poise health, so you can't even get broken out of it.
@@skeletalspiders6697 Mostly because I think it’d be fun to see Chase get good use out of it. I don’t think this series is 100% about showing the most viable weapons but more just Chase showing off some cool parts of the game

Regardless of the incant's shortcomings, the challenge of making it minimally viable with a chain cast or a weapon art like Gravitas could be interesting EDIT: Like using waves of Darkness to stunlock or using Dragon King's Cragblade/the Crucible Horn incant as movement tech to set up a cast.
There is absolutely no way currently to make scarlet aeonia viable currently, it is the worst spell in the game and it is honestly not even usable in PvE

I love powerstancing this weapon on my faith/dex build. Most people don't expect me to pull out ancient dragon spells or Golden Order Greatsword wich chains it's WA with Morggots Sword if you time it correctly
a good combo is using the pest threads incantation then following up with the weapon art

I'd love to see you use either of the Natural-born weapons - Wing of Astel is beastly, the L2 is great for zoning and the R2 catches folks for no FP.
Bastard's Stars/Astel's first mobile is possibly the worst looking weapon in the game but the lunge on the L2 covers like 2 miles much like this weapon.
The only very minor drawback is that the damage is shit.
Love Wing of Astel. I'm using it mainhand with a staff offhand. It's SO versatile at giving a strong melee option in medium to close range that synergizes incredibly well with sorcery. The R2 catches people off guard constantly and is capable of outputting decent damage without needing to play aggressively. I agree it's hideous, and it has a fairly high skill floor so nobody uses it, and thus nobody expects it.
Can you do the Coded Sword soon? Interested what you think of a pure faith weapon. Also if you have any cool tips as I main duel Coded Swords and am kicking butt lately.
This weapon AoW tracking is insane, looks cool when you use it and target after the charge.
Godrick axe I feel would be a fun one. It’s base damage isn’t anything to write home about but the ash of war is a blast to use
You should check out the Zamor Curved Sword! Pretty interesting moveset, not the same as the other curved sword huge poise with the ashe of war.

thats the most similar build ive seen chase run to mine stat wise xd . i do have 15 less vigor to hit the softcap on dex but im having a blast oneshotting most people
Serpentbone Blade has a unique strong attack that can be done quickly. It does a quick two hit attack and can be chained to a second one.
Personally i'd love to see one for the Marias Executioner's Sword, i dont see it get much attention but its one of my personal favorites

I was wondering if you could do a shield/ spear combo showcase? Tree spear + tree sentinel shield has been fantastic! Especially against those wizards

Almost like the new Gundyr's Halberd with that Ash of War. Love this sword
Should try double Ant Spear Rapiers (not sure if I spelled that right) I run them with Soduku, and poison affinity. That means I can get my poison, rot, blood loss and consecutive hits all boosted with talismans. You buff up and you can trade with most people because you literally deal 2x the damage of most builds. Or you can just hit them a few times and kite around dodging their attacks and let them die

I went through a strength playthrough and was servery disappointed. I could really only use thrust attacks and the lions claw for damage. Went full dex on my next and found this gem. It has to be one of the best boss weapons in the series. It's so much fun.
The Madara cosplay used the White Reed armor set (only other samurai set than the starting one)
And I would guess he had some fire incantations and the Dragon Claw was his Susanoo ?
Bolt of Gransax weapon art has good poise if you want a trading spear.

9:06 it did bleed him. but i actually learned from your own words that if you roll through it, the bleed doesn’t do any damage but it does proc. which is exactly what happened here
You can also do a dodging slash if you roll out of a charged heavy
BTW, if you r1 Them, and follow up with a timed heavy, the curved gs Can also rollcatch that way:)
I'd love to see some STR/FTH weapons, which there arent many but they are all very nice and different from the rest. At least it has something, unlike Int/Faith, that doesn't have weapons other than the staff and the seal
Any advice for a complete new player for the nerves some of the bosses can give you I’m not even talking about the main bosses I haven’t even gotten out of limgrave yet.
What about a parrying tool or shield showcase? It would be interesting to see what others use to parry
