    Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen either Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a co-op commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units use their abilities as directed by a basic AI. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 e-sports. Though this project is a work in progress, and there are errors that will need to be fixed, so point them out if you spot any! The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!

    These tests really reveal how important proper control is. If the ghosts had kited, or the tanks had presieged, I doubt they would have lost any units at all.

      I disagree about the tanks, a lot of tanks still would have died. Much less, but they would have died. Normal tanks just have almost no hp and hydra deal enough per attack.

      I'd also like to add on that the Vikings would have 100% won vs the Ultralisk if they had BASIC pullback micro. Not even stutter stepping. Just pulling the weaker ones back and letting the higher health ones start tanking. Given that the Siege Tanks were allowed to be microed into positions and siege/unsiege, this shows clear micro bias.

      Or if the Ghosts had cloaked. They _did_ snipe at the start of the match, so clearly abilities are on the table.

      OR if the Vikings had approached the Ultra in GROUND MODE. They would have won.

      @@dimitarlinov2393 Probably some tanks would die, but very few, not a lot. They have a range of 13. The hydras would take 2 full salvos before approaching. Most would be dead on arrival.

    Deployed Siege Tanks just melts everything. The only unit that can withstand its relentless assault was WOL's Immortals.

    I am amazed how each time I see a siege tank battle I think: "Nah, that's too much, even with the splash + they are not pre-sieged" But the tanks still decimate everything.

      ​@@Templarfreak SC1/BW tanks have much worse AI, many would fire at the same target resulting in overkill and a waste of damage. After they improved tank AI in SC2, they had to nerf tank's sieged damage otherwise they'd be too overpowered. Siege tanks in WOL campaign has the same damage as SC1/BW counterparts, half a dozen of them with two bunkers can literally kill any ground attack waves.

      In wing of liberty.. tanks do 60 damage regardless of enemy armour type..
      That 35+15 was introduced in heart of swarm...

      @@Templarfreak initially they did 60 flat DMG in multiplayers too. It got changed to 35+15 at a later time. Either as part of heart of swarm or one of the patches if not as part of heart of swarm.

    If the Vikings had started grounded they might have actually won vs the ultra but would have lost vs the mutas goes to show how nasty that set up time is

    Got every prediction this time!
    Also I love that the units purely use AI. It lets the audience see the effectiveness of timing, pre-sieging, micro, targeting and upgrades on units in the purest form. Just look at the comments and engagement:
    “Shouldve pre sieged and held position”
    “Shouldve pre landed”
    “Imagine muta targeting”
    “Ghosts with micro”

      SC1 siege tanks had much worse AI, they'd all fire at the same target resulting in overkill and damage loss. Even though SC1 tanks have higher sieged damage on paper, they'd do worse in reality than SC2 counterparts. Also SC2 campaign tanks have like 100 damage in siege mode after the upgrade.

      SC2 siege tanks shoot faster. And in this video they spent a lot of time unsieging, so in realiy they are even more effective

      @@Airdrifting in sc1, you never clumped tanks! You always layered them with 2 or 3 tanks per layer. That does 2 things, makes it extremely difficult to penetrate and stops splash damage. Lurkers in SC1 did the same thing.

      With some exceptions like burrowed units without detection and flying units. If we add multiple unit types, then anything that can hit ground + vipers.

    Interesting results. Sure was expecting mutas to win due to multi-hit attack, but guess it was not enough.
    And viking against ultra may have been different if they had started on the ground using that extra range.

      I am fairly certain that +3/+3 greatly reduces the value of the bounces, as the vikings absorb 3 additional damage, but the bounces damage increases by 1 or 2

    Lurkers
    Etc should already be I'm the mode that they're gonna use for combat
    It's unfair for them otherwise as most people are gonna have them ready for combat before engaging

      He did change the script in some of the newer videos, so that the siege units do start sieged. At any rate, they still mopped the floor with those poor Hydras here. If anything, this kinda gave the Hydras somewhat of a chance.

      Definitely is, that's what a decent amount of the time swann, nova and stukov siege tanks spend in Direct Strike. And also why fast transform is pretty good.

      Ghost vs adept i feel like adepts would absolutely win, even with emp removing the shields, assuming equal numbers. Though maybe the slightly bigger range on the ghosts just might be enough.

      @@dimitarlinov2393 Ghosts are likely to win, since they can either snipe or emp em, also they're not considered neither light nor armored, giving em a harder time to kill
      There are 4 units in the game that aren't designated by either armor type:
      Ghost
      Queen
      Ravager
      Archon

    Siege tanks in that critical mass beat every multi-player unit, including greater numbers of their "counters." 100 tanks can beat 150 Ultralisks and 200 Immortals. The 700 Hydras had no chance.

      To be fair those are basic muta without any muta upgrades. That bounce damage does somewhat add up. Or regen when not in combat for like 2-3 seconds.

      @@tomdabomb999 one of the upgrades increases bounces from 3 to 6 and makes them bounce to further targets. another makes them regen health very fast out of combat. Then there is the much more specialized and kinda op upgrades that either makes all bounces deal full damage, or double damage vs armored, though the last 2 are on the same tier as blink stalkers regen shield and vikings dealing aoe damage.

      Unless stated, I'm 99% we should be assuming- the units are the base ladder ones. I've not seem the ultras burrow-charge or come back from the dead yet etc

    What terrible micro, The tanks were not even in siege mode most of the fight. Most of them just stood there. 100 tanks would have easily destroyed hydras.
