PLAYLIST: • Tya's Unit Brawls
#Tya #SC2 #StarCraft2
Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen either Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a co-op commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units use their abilities as directed by a basic AI. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 e-sports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN.
Though this project is a work in progress, and there are errors that will need to be fixed, so point them out if you spot any! The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!
SO I FORGOT SWARM HOSTS EXIST IM SO SORRY BUT IN MY DEFENSE I WISH THEY DIDN'T PLEASE FORGIVE ME
No... I don't think so.
* spawns locusts *
As punishment you have to do 100 Creeper Hosts against 500 Marines and we will just witness the show of Marines blasted by them blowing locusts lol
arguably air unit????
Understandable. Have a nice day.
I know Abathur swarmhosts are slightly eh by themselves, but still..
Either way, thank you for the video.
The marine concave vs queens was a thing of beauty
It was, but it ended like how I would imagine it would. Once the Queens ran out of energy, it just collapsed.
wrgg
0:43 The "units remaining" counter doesn't account for Banelings that explode on their target.
Hah you're right. I'll make sure that doesn't happen again, thanks!
@@Tya. Actually it is helpful because you can tell how many killed the marines before dying.
Condensed bane
Anyone who bet on lurkers winning definitely hasn't seen the "He made 500 marines and nothing else?" episode of IODIS :P
Lurkers don't work when the enemy comes in wide wave. They really need narrow chokepoints to shine.
I see I've found another man of culture. love harstem
Samr way Zerglings would lose in a tighter space.
Lurkers need time to borrow which is valuable time that goes to waste.
Secondly the moment marines start to spread out, Lurkers become even less effective.
@@SaithMasu12 16 lurkers vs 125 marines? that's an extremely rigged match. Not only are Lurkers fighting without their strongest weapon (invisibility) but they also have to kill 7.8 marines each (which is more than double their control) Not even the resources match. Meanwhile marines are given: Stimpack and Combat Shield (Which basically means x2 attack without penalties) and lurkers are given "burrow" without invisibility and extra range which means nothing in this battle... RIGGED
Marine: ever wonder why no one ever comes backs to the barracks?
Because they stand there and let bile hit them. :D
because they got it on with a zergling giggity
I recently replayed the Original and Brood War Campaigns. On one mission I lost 900 units as terran because the enemy had a ton of tanks and ghosts that kept locking down all of my mechanical units.. let's just say it wasn't a good day to be a Marine.
Utilizing the medivacs properly allows for most of the Marines to survive.
@@xitaris5981 I vote we frag this commander - marine
I got them all right except for ravagers. Though in my defense, I went "Marines, unless they land the sickest biles" and then watched half the marines get biled
Honestly anything with aoe will fuck up marines easy goven their low hp. Iirc isnt the bile shot of the ravager a one shot kill for marines?
@@dragonfable66 Yeah, it's more about how many marines can get hit by a single bile though, as well as how much overkill happens by biling the same area more than once
@@dragonfable66 I disagreed because lurkers didn't handle the job
@@dragonfable66 Not anything, as we see lurkers don't work, it needs to have either a LOT of aoe or the aoe has to be in the right shape for afan out fight as happens in these A move battles, what really puts the ravager over the top is that in a vacuum were nothing dodges they have one of the better abilities, high damage multi hit drone strikes.
this is also with exactly 0 micro
3:23 That last marine facing 5 ultralisks be like "Well shii..."
Is not Adrenal Glands a Tier 3 upgrade? Is it not a bit unfair to have Zerglings with AG against 1/1 marines?
bro this entire vid unfair like one or two splits and all rounds wouldve looked different
What I learned today is that marines counter lurkers
Marines counter Lurkers depsite the fact that Lurkers were used to be Anti-Marine unit
In-game scenario, marines are walking in lines, don't see lurkers, gets decimated then forces some scans to get some lurkers before they flee.
Anything that gets a surround on lurkers counters them. The same amount of lurkers vs marines in a choke wouldn't even be close
You cant "learn" anything from these, they are fun, dont get me wrong, but theyre completely unrealistic as you would NEVER get these scenarios
And im not even talking about the lack of micro, but the completely flat terrain and lack of choke points, to the "mass 1 unit", people uses army compositions for a reason (Aside from meme builds/trolling)
*marines with a Raven
You ever do "how many X does it take to kill Y?" like start at 1 marine and work up to whatever number it takes to kill something?
A lot of this was concave vs convex. Spread the units apart a little further and I'm sure a lot of these would have went differently
Yes, there were quite a few instances where zerg units were just wiggling in the back, unable ro path closer to hit the enemy. Meanwhile marines could spread out easily
it looks weird giving lings adrenal glands and only 1/1, considering adrenal is a high end upgrade
6/9
Didn't expect the concave against queens, or that hydralisks would actually be able to take damage.
Ever since Brood War, I always saw a Hydralisk as a Marine * 2 when it comes to its stats, but they have a range advantage over Marines, which certainly helps. They still did pretty well for themselves.
@@WaterCrane The extra range means twice as many hydras can shoot as the concaves form. Which is a big difference. If the marines stutter-stepped once, they could win.
This is exactly what I wanted.
Marines are my bois and they can... uh... hold off some things...
2:37 damn what happened to that lurker!
The ragdoll physics are really weird, units keep getting thrown in a direction and with a level of strength the killing blow does not show.
What does the red / blue hourglass thing represent?
Wait... 0:36
Why do pre-hive zerglings have adrenal glands? That isn't even possible lmao. If they have adrenal, they definitely have +3+3 or at least +2+2, meaning marines should too. And marines gain huge benefits from +attack bonuses.
It's theoretically possible, it's just that by the point you reach hive and start adrenal glands you would usually already start/have +3/+3 or +2/+2.
Considering how attack and armor interacts in SC2, the semantics of +1/1 versus +3/3 on Marine vs Ling wouldn't make much of a difference. Ling speed counters the inherent range advantage, while Adrenal makes up for Stim+Combat Shields, so it becomes a numbers game, except when micro is involved.
Anyone noticed how marine number jump up when they engage zerglings?
The ravager is another unit that does way-to well in these clips. The AI won’t micro away from it.
That's why ravager is the strongest unit Abathur has.
80% of the unit strength lies in Corrosive Bile. If they would micro away from it, the showcase would be absolutly pointless because they would loose against pretty much everything.
Even in a normal Sc2 these units are used to zone out the enemy.
I never doubted the ability of the ravager.
To be fair Adrenal Glands is on a completely different tier of upgrades. Probably should've compared without that, and then again do a full 3-3 upgrades for both (with adrenal glands now).
If both sides have 3-3 then it cancels out
So I've noticed it very frequently is the units who can bring their whole force to bear fastest that wins, not every time but most times. Is there a way to change up the formations at start? That may affect the results in some way
I'm guessing:
Zerglings: Marines win, though they would do better with Medivac support and it depends heavily on the number of marines, past 28 stim marines beat double the number of Adrenal Zerglings but 27 or less and ordinarily they lose to equal supply.
Queens: tough call, but Marines do much better against only Queens than most units so I'll say Marines
Banelings: lol marines dead.
Roaches: depends on upgrades and numbers, marines are ok against roaches but that 1 base armour can really hurt their damage output. I'd say marines win with stim/shields and +3 vs +3 Roaches.
Ravagers: difficult again. If the marines don't dodge one bile kills them but Ravagers are very weak vs marines in open engagements because of their low hp, low damage density and lack of base armour. I'd say probably marines, but the ravagers might take it.
Hydralisks: Hydras trade poorly against marines as marine damage density is higher, however in a-move battles without medivac support Hydras outrange Marines so I'll say the Hydras might win this.
Lurkers: lol those Marines are dead.
Swarm Hosts: they don't exist, but if they did their locusts would kill a fair few marines and then the Swarm Hosts would die as Locusts timed out and they don't have the sense to run away from the crackheads with guns.
Mutalisks: Mutas are highly mobile but their damage leaves something to be desired. The splash is nice vs Marines, but the fact that they clump on top of marines means the high dps shreds the fragile mutas.
I won't mention Corruptors or Vipers as they can't fight Marines.
Infestors: fungal is great, but it depends on if there are enough Infestors and if they are smart enough to not stack casts.
Brood Lords: depends on if the Zerg gets ground upgrades, marines can out-dps the broodlings and get on top of the lords if they have no ground carapace.
Ultralisks: ... if it's one Ultra with no upgrades vs 100 3/3 stim/shield marines, then Marines win. Otherwise... om nom nom.
This comment is going to have lots of likes
@@tudormanescu4427 I sure hope so. :)
You were about half right.
Cracklings wreck in these scenarios though.
Stim, stutter-step, and all the marines stacked up in a death ball would have beaten this amount of cracklings even without medivac support, but that's not how these videos roll.
If marines went for lower surface area - they'd win against cracklings.
The Ravager round was pure comedy lol
Only ones I got wrong were Hydras and Ravagers, guess the range upgrade matters a lot
Not being able to avoid the aoe bile is huge.
Range means that 2x as many hydras are shooting as marines, which is a huge dps difference.
1:46 Brenda and the girls having a horrible bridge session 👒
Since you already have the number of alive units, would it be possible to add the starting number of units next to it? Like 30/30 and as the number of living units go down, we see the ratio and cost efficiency of the trade when the end number is 3/30 or 15/30
"Terrans are op, they can just spam marines!"
Marines: barely win against worker units
To be fair... the workers cost twice as much as the marines...
@@momom6197 no, they cost 50, the same amount
Who will win: unit that cost more tech and vespen(roach)
Or
Shooty boi
Just keep in mind that most people have micro going or have stimpaks up.
Hello, how do you do this type of mod, what's name it's for a custome game mode like this pls ?
The roach test wasn't a good test.. look at the marines vs the queens.. the marines wrapped around.. half the roaches milled about because of the front line stopping and getting chewed apart... roaches generally beat marines pretty solidly and had half of them wrapped around and started doing something other than milling about I think it would have been much closer than it showed to be.
In low numbers roaches win, but in high numbers marines win. The main reason is that their hit box is so small that you can fit a ton of them in a small space and their DPS density goes through the roof. Pretty much anything in the game that doesn't have AoE damage will lose to clumped marines if upgrades are equal.
@@ClearAlera I don't disagree with that, however watch the roach vs marines again. Half the roaches mill about in the back while the marines are all going full bore. The fact the roaches are essentially at half the numbers they should be at during the fight plays a large role. Another example is the zeglings. Zerglings have no AOE, but they wrapped the marines and the fight was over very quickly. Had the roaches moved forward so that the back line been able to attack, I think the fight would have favored the roaches. You have so many roaches milling about in the back for 2 or 3 seconds that it's not surprising they lost. I saw a similiar video where roaches went up against seige tanks. The roaches stayed at distance and easily got wrecked. Had they run right up on the tanks, working in the tanks dead zone, it would probably been a better representation of actual strategic value.
Why do the marine count increase in the hydra one? : P
I don't understand. How do you decide on upgrades and numbers?
"Let's go you apes you wanna live forever?!"
Adrenaline for Zerglings is high-tier upgrade. You May get it only if you have Hive. Skirmish be more fair with upgrades 3/3 on both sides and some medivacs with marines.
@@Templarfreak In Ladder you dont have large open area, so you cant split marines how this... And microcontrol and upgrades is very important. This Autochess, to be honest, dont matter in real matchups.
@@peskost6155 i didnt see so effective byles againts something not stationar like tanks or liberators even in bronze, just standing againts ravagers can only basic ai or afk
What was the song you used? I'm a dm for dnd and this would be so good in my campaign
Go listen to the legacy of the void ost, its one of those
what does the blue and red candy looking icon under minerals signify? I’ve never been able to figure it out
The explanation is buried in the video description. It's some resource used in OPs custom game. Kinda silly to include it imo.
The unit cost in Direct Strike, kinda fits imo, since these videos are like showing how different units collide with each other, with auto-cast abilities and practically no movement micro.
@@asterpw Pretty sure Direct Strike is one of the most popular Custom games in the arcade (the most popular part of SC2) and what the OP is known for.
8/9 is pretty good for the gamble! (I WAS hoping for a 9/9 but nooo had to have ONE loss), keep em coming!
We don't include upgrade costs in the total cost?
Wait. Roaches don't have the +8 vs light upgrade in ladder?
They are +armored
Isn't that an Abathur exclusive upgrade? Not even Zagara roaches have it, which i think seem like normal roaches.
@@dimitarlinov2393 Zagara can't build Roaches, would be silly to inclue an upgrade that only affects spawned units.
Same as with Abatur's Zerg-melee +1 missing despite having Brutalisks.
@@TingK199 in Direct Strike she does have roaches, 1 of the 2 meatshield units she has, the other being aberrations. Though that does explain the lack of upgrades on them.
On the brutalisk, it technically uses a ranged attack, it isn't melee. Not sure if it uses a projectile or not, you can definitely see how delayed and weird the ground attack is.
@@dimitarlinov2393 The Bruta has Melee of Ground and Ranged-spit For air. When selected you can see +1 Melee is free every time +1 Ranged is researched.
Questions:
Do units have unlimited vision?
If they don't, can't we lesser their vision slightly below their range so at least two rows could shot?
Some units do have less range than they have vision. Sieged tanks for instance. But most have vision that is either the same or higher than their range, which allows them to chase enemies. If you want more rows of enemies to shoot, there's a thing called micro.
I realize that's the purpose but not seeing micro against the corrosive bile hurts my soul
maybe a stupid question but, what does the counter all the way at the bottom, with the blue and and red triangles represent? I've been watching these for a bit and i can't figure it out xD
Total resources minerals and gas combined
@@reaty05 nah thats from an arcade game within sc2, direct strike I think it is called
@@OMIMreacts I think it it combined resources for the red and blue triangles if I have 1000 mins with 75 gas it would be 1075
While it's entertaining to watch I would have been more interested in some kind of comparable metric. Like same resources spend and then duke it out.
Queens can't transfuse off creep. These are not standard units but some sort of mod
These are for the most part Direct Strike units, maybe custom made with Versus stats in case they've been changed. That's why pretty much everything is the way it is, unit placement, AI, and stuff.
Oh really? I could swear marines where detectors...
Thanks tya love your vids!
What map did you use?
Name of Music??
3:25 I almost wanna scream "Elephant the killer, elephant the hero!" (said by Ukrainian sportscaster Alex007ua during the WCS Global Finals - ByuN vs. Dark, when Dark won by the skin of his teeth their 5th set on King Sejong Station with a single brutalisk).
Why do they all fly after being killed?
Dang, I really thought those drones were gonna win lol
wait i thought queens cant transfuse of creep anymore because of the new patch
how did I lose every single one other than the drones and ultras
Ultra vs Marines is like a harvester on a wheat field
Those 12 ultras had babies and became 24 for a couple of seconds
A bunch of marines went into a bar and got upset because there was no counter.
You should have a video with a grass map background and then do a quick fade to Age of Empire 2 troops fighting.
Now we running out of marines, send those SCVs in
Between the marines not being able to stagger attack and use their stim or kite it's no wonder they got destroyed in nearly all of these encounters. The drone fight would have ended without a single marine death if any micro was used at all.
That's true of any encounter in starcraft 2. Micro is king after all. The whole showcase is just meant to be a slogging match. Sit back and enjoy the carnage.
3:23 Elephant the killer
Elephant the hero)
7/9. I always forget how good hydras are vs pure marine
9000 resource and 120 supply vs 6300 resource and 125 supply. Left with 3000 resource and 40 supply. Normally with this kind of army quality difference should be way more overwhelming.
Infestors and Swarm Hosts were left out.
And broodlings and larvas x)
Why add adrenal gland to lungs when they were 1-1 ofc they were going to decimate the rines lol
i wanna see a runback of that roach vs marine fight but with micro
Or with roach speed
울트라는 잔디 깍듯 마린을 썰어버리네요 ㅋㅋ
so marines counter roachs amd lurker. make sure you build marines when opponent start build lurkers or roachs
These are so silly. You give the lings 1/1 but also the hive attack speed buff. When does that ever happen?
I spent the whole time wondering what that bottom resource was. I don't think you should include it as it will just confuse your main audience. Also those Queens shouldn't be able to transfuse off creep these days.
Imo it kinda fits.
That's the Direct Strike cost for the unit. Kind of shows how the unit's pricing is balanced-ish for these kinds of scenarios.
For the queens, they would be even less usable, considering there is no way to spread creep, beside the commander Kerrigan.
didn't do marines vs chain fungal infestors.
aww, the banelings didn't get and MVPs, what a shame :)
Nope, only last guardian standing
What game is this???
what was the MVP of the banelings?
No one got any kills
@@rompevuevitos222 idk thr banes won, who was the mvp
Banes only kill on death, so all the dead ones are the MVP
so basically marines beat all units except hive tech lings and ultras. They have to dodge biles to beat ravagers. I've always said if terran just builds marines they'll just win. Instead they build hellions and crap.
2:38 MVP got 1 kill?
I like Dominion Troopers with LMG more than Marines, they feel i dunno, better, i mean they have kind of similar health if not the same amount, do higher damage, cheaper and faster to produce (without the LMG). I wish they were swapable units with the Marines and SCVs, its quite sad they are limited only to coop mission under Mengsk.
Even tough Marines are supposed to be better, i mean the C-14 Gauss Rifle have the same kinetic energy as a 25mm or 30mm autocannon (and the actual math for it are done, so yes they do have the same kinetic power), and the CMC Power Combat Suit.
Did you have to manually revert the queen change in your mod so they could still transfuse off creep?
the numbers didnt add up
Roaches were an easy pick knowing the AI is too stupid to use them correctly.
where thee infestors?
This video looks like an ad to the mobile game
Loool 16 lurkers vs 120 marines
I guessed the lurkers, ravagers, hydras and roaches wrong. Shame on me
i only got the roaches and the lurker fights wrong all the rest i got right XD btw that ultralisk vs marine fight i seen the numbers and laughed XD
no infestors?!?!
thanku
No point to give zerling adrenaline and fight at 1 1 upgrade
When a 50 mineral basic unit can kill a 75/50 unit you know some things are not ok
75/25 and thats fair enough, roach is on of the most ineffective damage diller for his recources, people use them, because they really easy to mass
Roaches are anti armor, not anti light
They are the equivalent of Marauders
When Zerg wins the most premier tournaments by a large margin, you know everything's ok. (for zergs)
Starship troopers in a nutshell.
That quote from the marine: I came here to kick ass and chew bubblegum - is incomplete, the follow up should be - and I'm out of bubblegum.
Hold the line boys!
Ultra vs marines epic batte))))
9/9 All results are easy to foresee. Have lurkers win atleast once?
Would've been more fair to Karen, Brenda, Margaret, Tiffany and crew, to spread some creep beforehand.
Really painful to watch that roach vs Rhine when if the roaches finished moving up they'd have easily won. Lack of micro to get in range with queens or roaches is so hard to watch. And then lurkers taking an engagement while the rhines are perfectly spread out horizontally to negate their splash damage etc.
Contrary to popular belief zerg probably needs the most micro AND macro. Especially late game.
...maybe i should stop microing my marines if they trade well in most these fights
Ilogic comparisons...
I knew the ultralisk battle would be a massacre.. but yikes
Ah, the rifleman’s oath
I kind of wish the banelings got an "MVP" on one of the stains on the ground.
