I am sure many of my current subs are already veteran jet guys so this may be a little basic, but if you have any recommendations for advanced tips I could give in future episodes that would be awesome. I want this to appeal to people who is their first time flying all the way to veteran jet pilots

A quick tip is that if you are on pc is that if you re-route your keybind so that instead of pulling back on the mouse to fly up I've found that re-routing that mouse control to spacebar actually helps you keep tighter turns and helps a lot.
I'm a pretty good jet fighter, but even I struggle getting behind the other enemy jet. - Something you could give information on.
I won't pretend to be the best jet pilot out there but I'd say I win about 90% of dogfights so hopefully this will be useful: First off the ideal turning speed for the stealth/fighter jet is between 312-318 (my guess would be that it is in fact 315 but anywhere +-3 you will be able to execute an acceptably sharp turn). I've had more trouble pinpointing the equivalent for the attack jet but I'm gonna say ~300 that aircraft has a lower top speed, lesser agility and generally is harder to turn sharply. For new players who aren't sure how to turn sharply you need to maintain the speeds mentioned above, roll to about a 70degree angle and then pitch the nose of the jet hard up. You can couple this with yawing the plane in the same direction to give you a little bit extra turning velocity. Once u get behind people with this method it's pretty simple to finish them off.
Few other assorted tips:
- Don't fly over the enemy base, labeled US, CN etc. those sites are protected by a C-RAM, CWIS or equivalent that will shoot you down if you fly over whilst spotted.
- Mobile anti-air is a bitch in this game and often I see high rank players camped out at the back of the map with one (personally I despise this style of play). For this reason I run both my jets with laser guided bombs. This tip is not for all situations, if you know that the enemy has very skilled jet pilots then hear seekers or active radar may be better but generally I deal with airborne threats with my primary weapon. These bombs also increase my kill count significantly as they increase my inventory of available targets.
- SUPPORT YOUR WINGMAN! I cannot emphasise this enough! Control of the skies is critical to winning the game and if the other jet on your team is shot down you are going to have a hard time maintaining control by yourself.
- On the occasions you find yourself flying at someone head-to-head, break away before you think you need to, do not assume the other pilot will. In addition to this I really think some pilots deliberately sacrifice themselves. I would not be exaggerating if I said that 70% of my deaths in jets are the result of collisions with other aircraft.
- Use the terrain to break missile lock.
- This one is pretty hotly debated, in general you should wait until the "Threat" alarm sounds before popping flares or ECM however if you are flying at the target that has you locked you will likely not get time and using the about a second before you are going to pass them should prevent a missile hit. After this you are pretty exposed with leads into my next point.
- Hide until your countermeasures re-arm.
- Do not be afraid to fly upside down or rolled 90degrees, you have a much clearer view of how much clearance you have above you than beneath, I frequently fly by buildings and over hills upside down so that I can fly closer. Flying sideways is especially useful on Dawnbreaker where you can then weave through the skyscrapers, I have yet to see someone try and follow me through like that.
- Don't spend too long in 3rd person, use it to require targets but only for a second then return to first person, I find I have much finer control of the aircraft that way.
One final point: please don't get in a jet unless you intend to continue flying it! I see plenty of people using them as transport then bailing out. I am frequently left to battle two enemy jets on my own and if they have the same skill level as me I will lose... It's extremely aggravating and leaves your team at a disadvantage.

I think its a great idea to do this series; I was a COD player until Ghosts launched and getting into the jet and helicopter combat in battlefield 4 has been a steep learning curve. Any help you can give people has got to be a good thing.

Great stuff with this idea series, Stone. As a mid level pilot the best thing to have is a fundamental base of skills. At least they put AS in to get your unlocks and hone your skills. The topic I think would do the most good is teaching the skills that will help lock down kills.

Definitely cover how to turn, trying to juke other jets out in a dogfight...like when to use after burners and when accelerate/deccelerate when trying to keep on a jets who's only doing circles
I've got one tip for Xbox one maybe ps4 don't know about pc but you can get a much clearer view to see the vhecials if you press down the right analog stick

One of th best evasive maneuvers while flying ( If you have enough distance from the ground ) Flip the plane upside down then pull down with the right analog. Most people just turn the plane sideways and the pull down making the U-Turn
I've tried flying jets in BF3 and tried it at the Test Range in BF4 but I always crash it a few seconds after take off so I kinda gave up on flying jets or helicopters. I hope with your tutorials, I might be able to learn flying again.
You could talk about teaming up with a friend and work together (but you should always assist wing-man). If other the friendly jet is down, I select my targets and pick them off on conquest. I'm not a very skilled pilot so I usually go after helos since they are generally easier to take down since they either hover or are moving slowly. With heat seekers, I like to get really close to the target so their counter measures won't work .
Damn....i am watching this in June 2020 as i found episode 2 of this series. I have well over 1500 hours in BF4 and still playing it. I think split between all the planes and helis i have less than 5 hours total. So using this along with other videos and practise to try and improve my flying in BF4 and likely also in BF1. I won't bother with BFV as i would have to buy it first and i think i'd rather stay with the ones i have and see what the next battlefield game will be.

Yes sry im very late. But you can use every jet at lvl 1. You just need to unlock things like bombs and rockets by playing with that specific jet class

I've never been in a jet in any Battlefield game. Might give it a try now.
When you turn, keep a constant speed of 300-315 MPH. This will make your turning quicker and smoother. I don't know what speed to keep at when you do a flip in the jet.
U should keep this series defiantly but maybe like add other things like good weapon combinations or how to use other vehicles but this will probably the best the jets but anyway good vid and keep going on ;)
The Most important thing is the turn speed wich is about 313 in stealth and 300-305 in attack jet.
2nd dogfight in 3rd pers and read the Air Radar.
The best way for beginners is to get "nose up" on space when u did this u can loop very easy, with the stealth jet u can use Ur boost (on pc it s shift) to get gain more speed when you go up while looping.
This is important for advanced pilots to hold a constant Speed Lvl. When u go up Ur jet automaticly starts to Slow down and you lose speed by pressing the boost about 3 Times per Second u avoid this.
This is only Working with STEALTH jets behause the attack jet has no boost.
When u r able to hold a constant speed u can Start to "overturn" ( pc = a and d) then u can turn sharper.
I don t want to tell all the Moves you can do to get behind ur oponent but of u want to know some more things Don t mind pm me ;)

Tip: if you just spawned a jet dont go to the middle of the map and instead keep in the edge.With the free look of the first person you can search for enemys and spot then before you advance.That way you can aways know were they are.

How Come i can never see the figher jet on the minimap but on the ”radar” in the beginning? I Also never see any1 take Off in a jet, Theyre just in the sky in every game on conquest. How do i get a fighter jet?

Hey stonemountain I play on ps3 currently and wanted to leave a comment about the veteran controls. They are not exactally the same from bf3, at least for ps3. When I was playing I noticed the R2 button (the button to speed up a bit, not afterburners though) was switched to R1 in bf4. This is not a big difference but I am liking the new controls on bf4 a lot better and am not thinking about switching back to veteran, even though I am still kinda used to the controls, thanks for the info and I hope I can learn something new in the upcoming learn to fly videos, Thanks!

i never noticed the reflections on the cockpit window on the ps3, is that a feature only on the next gen consoles/pc and how annoying is it? It became quite opaque and filled most of the screen at some points

both Xb360 and PS3 have air superiority but it can sometimes crash the game and/or be a bit laggy. and in conquest/obliteration you only have 1 jet

It would be great if you could do a lesson about dodging and dogfights. Especially if you can't get rid of your chaser. It often enough ends up in people flying endless circles.

When you use heat seekers Some people deploy when you lock on that's a good time to launch. And also fire one, and when they deploy their flairs use your second missile.

I try flying jet in bf3 and 4 but failed in both...
I would start and wouldn't be able to pick up the jets and when ever I did I will crush the jet in seconds or couldn't control it good I would like to know the basic first from lift off to fly the jets

You should focus on speed, how to get out of the endless circle, switching (or aerial screws) And weapons/ upgrades.
a few steps how to get big improvments in a short time...
- never use heatseekers/passive/aktive radar missiles to take out air vehicles
- if gaining altitude use afterburnes, if losing altitude break
- get used to ecm
- get used to the jet cannons
- keep your speed at 310-313
you will be the best pilot in 90% of your public games

i bought the air vehicle DLC for my copy BF4 on ps4 but i cant seem to get a jet is all i have to do is fight for it really?
As far as veteran tips.. If you are playing on console be sure to include what you are doing with your controller as you execute each maneuver. If you discuss speed control, reference when to let off of which buttons and when to re - engage them and when to start a switch. Also if you've figured out how to dodge AA missles in BF4 yet, let us know! I still cant, not even in the paper plane.

I am a jet veteran since bf3 the best tip for dog fighting in air superiority is try to pick off the jets that are following a teammate because they will be slowing down trying to get a hit so use this to easily take them down good luck.

I like to use third person view when firing the guns because its easier to see the bullet trail. I use battlefield 4 stock controls!
switch to vet controls it's a lot easier esp. if you played bf3 and if not just get used to them and you will do better

a good tip u can give em is missile clipping, when you get shot at with rockets and have to CM's u can make the missile hit ur wings and if u do it at the right angle the missile will hit you but not hurt you

the most annoying thing for me is that when im in a jet my team never spots targets for me so i have to find them myself and spin around get a good distance so i dont crash when im flying at them shooting and by the time i turn around my team has taken them out, i play on ps4
you should do some halo "we are live" stuff or something that you could do for halo. just a recommendation :)

I know his may sound stupid but my advice is to simple practice, I found it difficultt to unlock the UCAV at first but when I practiced in the jet it wasn't too hard!

I am having trouble leading targets. Can someone help with some tips on when to shoot and how to judge the distance?
This depends largely on the calibre of chaingun/cannon you are using, in all honesty practice is the best solution to this problem, I know this is probably not what u wanted to hear. As a very rough approximation, 1 jet-length in front of your target should work between 50-100m, beyond that keep increasing the lead.
Dawn breaker is a good map for jets because the f-35 jets can hover and shoot infantry and helicopters very easily
How can you make the jet hover?
John Duong to hover you need to pull back on the the throttle stick (make the jet go slower) until the engine turns and then you're in hover mode! (Only works on the F35)
I have not got the dlc so i can not do the new game mode, how much are they for xbox 360 , the dlc thats not china rising

Tip number one in a dogfight: Never ever turn and stay at the same direction and speed. Your tracker can line his shots up perfectly if that happens
Keep your turning speed between 300 and 315
my most kills on ps3 air supirority in 1 round, is 5. the avaerage kills on it is 0-1 kills
