In my experience, the glorious sea dog cannons are the best for shooting, their accuracy is impeccable. Golden sailor cannons are the best for aiming and probably the best looking cannons in the game. That’s right, the two best cannons in the game are time limited, never coming back. If your not so lucky then sailor cannons are always a top choice. Sea dog cannons are equally as great, but look horrendous.
Your editing game these days is on POINT, you weren't kidding about stepping it up! I loved the little cannon sequence at 25-35 seconds in 👌🏻 I always use the Sea Dog cannons too.
Having a good idea of where the center of the screen is tends to help much more than the top of the cannon in my experience. That said, having a cannon with a single point on the top (for instance, the Order of Souls cannons or the Ashen Dragon cannons with their square and hexagonal shapes, respectively) tends to help a bit, more so than something without a centered point like the Forsaken Ashes cannons do. That's part of why the simple, circular shape of the sailor and various Sea Dog variants of cannons work well for it, the top of the circle is a centered point.
I don't like just dropping contrary statements, but your experience has misled you. The center of the screen will help you, sure, when you can see the enemy ship. There are times at long range when flared cannon tips literally blind your firing range and require you to re-aim or get off the cannon to see how you need to adjust. The tip of the cannon is make or break, very very much so.

I purchased the Rose Cannon, it shoots incredibly well. And it looks good with the Lunar skin I purchased. A friend and I took on Flame Beard and one Griefer. The Ghosts killed their ship and one tried to Board only to be stabbed and shot. But after a four hour Battle we had a ship that looked liked a patchwork quilt. But those Cannon performed flawlessly and my friend was able to land consecutive hits, three to four landed at once. Keep up the good work Phuzzy.

I use the magpies wing cannon since its part of my personal ship skin and its close in appearance to default cannon, but i can say my most hated is the reapers cannons cuz the ridiculous bones block my view. But a lot of ppl i know say the best one is the athena Ghost ship cannons since it has a non-view-obstructing pointed tip like the seadog weapons and is pretty accurate but theyre hard to unlock so good luck
Thank you for making these types of videos and tutorials. I started three days ago and I've won multiple fights. My first one was when people were acting friendly. I saw them coming from far and I had two Ashen Captain Chest on my sloop (i'm solo.) I sold them since I was at Reaper's Hideout and then let them come towards me. They got on my ship and started to talk to me. When I went close to the edge, they blundered me off the edge and killed me. I spawned back and ended up killing them (3v1) each two times and did the harpoon trick to get on their ship and sink it by crashing into the island! Your videos help me a lot. Thanks for helping new players like me.

For some reason I can hit pretty well with the royal sovereign canons even tho the lip is pretty big on it

I use something I call a 'reference shot'. It almost always misses but it helps me to determine where to aim.

you aim with the hearth, not with the eyes. your eyes will only tell you were the cannon is aiming, not were the shell will go
