This was my first battlefield game that i played and i was immediately hooked on battlefield conquest mode. I first seen the game in the store and some random person told me how good the game was. I didnt buy it that day but i did soon after i found out a couple of my online friends played it together. This was before party chat so there was a lot of texting with the controller. I remember playing the map Backstab a ton. Everyone voted for that map it seemed. I remember hiding on the second story of a building in the center of town laying down a handful of mines that led to the top of a staricase. When the enemy came up the stairs you'd shoot the first mine and it was a chain reaction exploding all the mines killing the enemy. I also remember my friend could do something like quickly switching weapons or something and it would crash the server. He was a wicked good chopper pilot in the game. Currently don't play any battlefield games anymore. I'm older and I prefer more relaxing games after is stressful day at work. Thanks for uploading this and bringing back some memories.
Yeah, that's a fun mechanic which made the single player experience feel like you're part of a bigger military operation instead of the usual "one-man-army".
I just found out about the comeback recently, and I've been playing it on PCSX2. I never had played the ps2 version before, I was a long time veteran of the 360 version with thousands of hours into it. I really wish there were some way to get that version back, it was a lot better overall in my opinion. The core game is there on ps2, but things like quick switching with sniper and engineer don't work on ps2, and that was how I played on 360. I was an absolute force to be reckoned with as either of those kits, especially engineer. I remember one time I had deranked myself so I could play with the scrubs, and I got a 107/0 KD on Backstab, mostly from camping around flag 3 as engineer. I never will forget all the great times I had on there, the ps2 version has brought back some memories of it at least. My favorite was Coldfront CTF. There has to be some way to bring back the 360 version, hopefully one day it will happen.
This was a wonderful nostalgia trip of a video. I last played BF2:MC in 2009 before selling off my PS2, and it blows my mind that there are other gamers who have been so dedicated to this gem that they managed to somehow resurrect the entire multiplayer functionality! As you said, this game is extremely overlooked and underappreciated, even by DICE themselves - it deserves massive praise for how well it managed to translate the Battlefield experience to consoles in the studio's very first attempt.

Heard people are turning on the original Xbox servers back on a video on that and how to do it would be great and maybe they got Battlefield 2 Modern Combat up and running. Might look better on Xbox since it was the first HD Console doing Wide Screen and 1080i or 720p.

The more recent ones, especially the newest one _Battlefield 2042,_ unfortunately lost more and more of their charme with each new installment in exchange for corporate greed and micro transactions. This original first step on consoles is like a distilled version of what _Battlefield_ is all about: Big battles, vehicles, different classes with distinct abilities and equipment, and most fun when played with others (kinda like EDF actually, maybe that's why I like both 😁).
Haha, yeah those were the days! If you still have the game and feel nostalgic, you can hop back in! It's not _bursting_ with players like it was back in the day but especially on the weekends there's always something going on.

Battlefield MD2 was massively played online on PS2 back in days, sometimes with over 1000 players online, absolutely great FPS game, much better than nowadays shit FPS games
It really was a great experience and in several ways ahead of its time. Would be nice if this game could become popular again with the revival of the servers!

Never played the PS2 version, but I absolutely LOVED the 360 version of the game. And this is coming from a PC gamer through and through for over 40 years now basically. I know the 360 version is apparently different than the PS2 version (not just graphics from what I understand but the SP is different and the whole swapping system of course) but I'd still love if we someday got a remastered release of the PS2 or 360 version for current consoles and PC. But then again, PC never got Battlefield 1943 even though DICE promised it for years. So, I doubt it.
I used to play the ps2 version. Now I am playing xbox 360 version on xbox series X. It is the same game but graphics are different. Not sure about multiplayer part but they both contain it.

I didn't know this existed, lost track of Battlefield after the first one while MOH and COD got big, only knew it continued on PC but my old pentium MMX wouldn't run it.
A lot of people seem to not know about it, or forgot about it which is so weird as it was really BIG back in the day. All those millions of players can't just have forgotten about it, can they? But as I mentioned in the video, EA and DICE themselves are sort-of trying to "erase" the game from their past for reasons I don't understand 🤷♂️ The Battlefield series as a whole is still around, both on PC and consoles but the latest one, _Battlefield 2042,_ is really just a shadow of its former self. The graphics got better but the fun was lost somewhere along the way...
Due to the somewhat closed nature of the PlayStation Network (PSN) and Xbox Live (XBL) services this might be even harder to accomplish than bringing back the PS2 servers. And _that_ took almost 10 years already :( But I'd also love for BF1943 and BC to come back at some point. BF1943 was the first Battlefield game I played on PS3 and I loved it to bits! Good times 💜
@@cenorexia The good thing about bfbc2 is that it can be played online, on PC, and bfbc1 (also) has a very good campaign, but bf43 does not even have a campaign and is only online; With the closure of servers they killed him...
The Xbox and Xbox360 servers are not supported at this time. It took long enough to get the PS2 server files, and Xbox has the additional complexity of XboxLive which the Xbox servers relied upon. So even if you can emulate the Xbox360 version on your notebook, you won't be able to play online I'm afraid. However, since the PS2 version is compatible with the PCSX2 emulator, including online play, you could try that instead. Using hardware rendering and higher resolution gets the visuals pretty close to the Xbox360 version. AND you could play online with the rest of the community 😁
Yes, I'm using a slim too. It's even a bit more convenient because the slim has the network adapter already built in :) Just make sure you're playing a NTSC version of the game, the US version or the Japanese version for example.
I don't know about that. I turn into 2042 once in a while, also with the latest update, but it just doesn't have the same "magic" as the older titles for me. I loved BF3 and also enjoyed BF4 a lot... But I couldn't really get into 2042, even though I tried. I got all the trophies/achievements, even the ones for Hazard Zone but the lack of content and variety really killed it for me. I might give it another shot, but for the time being I'm happy with _Modern Combat_ making a return on PS2 😊
