With a display in front of the driver, this is a much more driver friendly EV than the Tesla.
Charge on!
EV's sales aren't dropping they're increasing year over year. They're just not increasing as fast as they were. Many people read those headlines and interpreted it (incorrectly) as "EV sales are dying". They're not. BTW, the bronze package is actually $2k. They probably raised the price after you filmed.
It’s very stupid why didn’t ford move the charging port too the rear left like Tesla ?
I’m a truck person but I’ve always liked this car
Fun fact: When you register the title with your state it says mustang truck, because of the weight and the all wheel drive .
Sort of like transformers? Are you a long bonnet or a cab over?
I don’t understand EV haters. Can’t everyone just drive what they like? And be happy for each other? Variety keeps things interesting. Good luck to ford selling this against the Ioniq 5 N on features and model Y with .9 financing. Ford and GM need to offer low apr deals and the EVs will start moving fast.
Media’s done a good job in the last year or so of making the EV vs gas very political.
Well, if it was actually about choice, sure, but EVs are eventually being forced and sales would be far lower if they didn't get massive rebates because they aren't economically viable in their current state.
"Can’t everyone just drive what they like?"
It's interesting. I think what ticked off the ICE crowd was the massive push in the last two years was the government and automakeers drumb beat that EV is the future and there is no room for ICE beyond 5 years. The messaging was very strong, and that turn consumers off
Government forcing people to buy EVs might have something to do with it. No internal combustion vehicles sold in California by 2035? The American public doesn't care that there are EV or that they are an option. But being told they are their "only choice" is where the government is overreaching.
I recently sold my 2021 Ram 1500 V8 HEMI etorque w/ towing package, and replaced it with a 2023 Mach-E California Route 1 Edition. I absolutely LOVED my truck, but I haven’t regretted selling it in the slightest. When I realized that gas was going to run me around $800 a month with my new work commute, the decision was clear. Full transparency, we already owned a Tesla Model 3 so I knew what I was getting myself into. Oh yeah…the Mach-E is fast as sh*t!!!
Don't like the interior of the Teslas with the controls on the screen. I'd buy a Mach e over a Model Y.
just KNOW the glass roofs have been literally flying off............poor glueing used! I would order with a glass roof delete!
I really like the Mach E! I’ve gradually made the move to wanting a full electric next year. I had a hybrid and now I currently drive a plug-in hybrid Ford C-MAX and that car has been a workhorse. I think the electrics are a lot of fun and it would fit my lifestyle with that mileage range. Of course there are still some more cars coming down the road within in the next year. I am really looking forward to test driving the Chevy Equinox EV. Thanks for posting these videos.
Another good TFL video. I drive a Mach-e California Route One with 315 miles of range. I usually see at least one or two other Mach-e cars per day on the road here in Los Angeles. 30,000 miles on my '22 and absolutely no issues. I would like those new lights. I cannot believe you're trying to compare to the Tesla MY. My Mach-e was hit in March and i rented a Tesla for two weeks while minor body work was done. I very much missed the comfort, quiet, and ride of the Mach-e. Also, there was no driver's console in the Tesla. Finally, the Tesla has no Apple Car Play. It felt SO nice to get back into the Mach-e.
agree, this car competes with a high end model 3 maybe, and the top version competes with a model S, at least on the interior.
Ev’s are far from dead last year in the United States. They sold over 1 million and this year will be the same in 2022 my wife bought a Mach E and this year I’m buying a F150 lightning… Once you drive an EV, you’ll want one trust me
nope
Still a microwave on wheels blasting you with EMF 😢☠️...
@@Big_E_247 Lmao says the person with phone in poket or beside head when sleeping 😂
@@mcsike7264 NEVER. Always in airplane mode during those scenarios.
@@Big_E_247 dose not change anything my guy still a battery in there XD
Looks good, but still no heat pump. Ford knows winter range is awful, we need the heat pump and integrated preconditioning options. The Ioniq 5 gets a refresh for 2025 to address the biggest problems and will be NACS port equipped. So I am leaning more in that direction as I prefer the 800v architecture.
Dang I didn't know it was still lacking! A Heat pump is a must for me in colorado
The 2024 F-150 Lightnings are getting a heat pump. The 2023.5 mid-year refresh of the Mach-E included a more efficient resistive heating system that is able to utilize excess heat from the motors so it should be better than it used to be… 🤷♂️ I live in Canada and didn’t have a problem with my ‘22 Mach-E. I found I lost about 1/3 of my range when it was cold.
It’s a good looking car but dang I really like the green one with the bronze package. I wouldn’t want to pay the extra $ for it but it’s pretty sharp looking.
That Green with bronze is the ticket.
The green with bronze is really sharp.
I test drove both cars (2024 Mach E Premium, not the GT, and the 2024 Tesla Model Y) this past weekend... as someone in the comments mentioned "The Model Y has better range, better software, and much better packaging. Cargo capacity and back seat are far superior in the Tesla."
But for someone like me, that this would be my first EV, I find the MachE to be better looking and easier transition from a gas powered car. The Mach E is a beautiful car. But you can't overlook the larger and more comfortable layout of the Model Y.
I know that it is a matter of getting used to it, but I do not like the Model Y dash layout... meaning, I do not like having to look to the side and down to see what speed I am doing. On the Mach E you still have a display right in front, in addition to the tablet in the middle... that, for me, works a lot better for a newbie coming from normal cars.
I currently drive a 2022 Jeep Gladiator Mojave... I am trying to decide if I add a Model Y or Mach E , or if I simply sell the Gladiator and get into a Rivian R1T. Either way, I will wait until next year to do anything as I want to see what the new Model Y looks like.
I had a model 3 that got totaled and did similar cross shopping for a replacement, so im used to the tesla ecosystem. In the end the price difference was just insane given a 8k cheaper starting price and 7.5k tax credit and financing offer we can get the Y for almost 18k less.
@@devonconnor3563 Yes, current incentives on the Model Y can't be beat. No way for other brands to compete at this time. If I was to buy today, Model Y would be my choice. I am really trying to decide if I want to add another car... rather than replace the Gladiator... Going back and forth on that. I have until the end of the month to decide since I understand, that is when the incentives from Tesla on the Model Y, change.
The Model Y with a factory hitch option... I could use the trailer for the stuff that I use the Gladiator for... but then again, when you are out and about and need the bring something home, having that back bed area in a truck, is great...
Anyhow, great video...
I’m on my 2nd Mach-E. I have nothing against the Tesla, but having driven both, I felt like the Tesla was a basically a fancy laptop on wheels and the Mach E was a really comfortable car that happens to use electrons…
If you plan on driving out of town the Tesla is really the only answer at the moment. Yes the supercharging network is being opened to other manufacturers, but only a small percentage of them. On another note, the fact that Ford called this a Mustang is a bummer for a long time Mustang lover. Mach E would have been fine.
@@AZdroptop Nice to hear from you Rick!! I need to catch up on the recent videos in your channel. Take care!
You did a good job presenting this car. More upbeat and fluid.
Yes I really enjoyed this video.
As far as builds quality it's always been better. But it desperately needs to be on 800v then drop the mustang logo and name and just call it the Mach e
The practical benefits of 800v are meh. I would much rather have the lower cost.
An 800 volt upgrade is definitely outside of what a refresh could do. Although, I don't disagree that it would be nice.
Also, I'm guessing, dropping the mustang name will happen once the vehicle needs attention in the media.
@@Factory400800V makes road tripping much easier
Who cares about the name 🤣🤣🤡🤡
800V upgrade benefits aren’t that big
The haters will always hate and conjure up misleading memes etc. EV sales are increasing. They are better for the environment. It's all academic though. The biggest issue is affordability. Most Americans can't afford these prices and take care of the needs of their family.
Im an EV owner. The other issue is charging. EV’s are great if you live in a single family home with a driveway where you can charge. That leaves out people who live in apartments, condos and townhomes.
Most Americans can’t charge EV because they live in apartments and rentals
@@Redhawk24 Many can’t, you’re right.
@@user-vx7vi3vq1c and don't drive any further than your town. Road trips suck with any EV, which makes them awful for the majority of people in the center of the USA. Too many Europeans have no concept of how huge this nation is and the distances involved. EV are horrible for the vast majority of this nation. Oh and guess what...power is out in a decent sized town along one of the main routes due to tornados right now...so no charging for anyone on the road through that area. Hope they aren't low because they aren't going to make it to the next town that's over an hour away.
@@zarroth i’m not going to disagree with you. And I’m the only rational EV owner on the planet. Charging your EV on a long trip does suck unless you’re on a major highway.
Please test the Rally model.
Just read an article last night about this car. Not only have they reduced the cost of this vehicle to be more competitive (which saw the increase in sales this year) but they just announced (similar to Tesla) 0% APR for 48 months for the 2024 model and up to 72 months for the 2023 model year. Honestly that is such a good deal if one is able to lock that down especially since car sales have been hurting from the high interest rates.
I would love to have one. Just a little pricey still, and the tax credit being lost killed it for me.
Like how they gloss over how many light years ahead of the tesla it is in terms of creature comforts, build quality, panel gaps etc.
One thing I like to see is how the charging port door is not gimmicky like the Blazer EV and Lyriq (press to open then walk across the street to grab a coffee and come back), which the Acura ZDX smartly did not adopt, and that the DC fast charging pins cover is hinged rather than left to dangle from the thin cord lace from a pair of plastic baby shoes.
Yesterday was one of the most beautiful summer days. Mild temperature sun in full brightness. I made several short trips shopping. Every time I got into and as I drove. I was in a hot box. The sun shining through that glass roof made my car a very uncomfortable sweat box.
Thanks Roman! The facelift is an improvement. I may go to the dealer and take a look!
Roman, do you know whether or not Ford fixed the power relay failure design on this new version?
Ford fixes that with a new design and put the new part in all existing vehicles. For '24, they also updated the internal wiring/cooling to get this extra power and extended full power operation.
It was fixed with the 2023 year model, and previous year models are getting replacements regardless if they are bad or not.
What I have heard is the "New" HVBJB has also failed on some people. Not sure this is what you are talking about.
Nice to hear some honest numbers for a change, of course it comes from TFL !!!!! The best HONEST car reporting.
The irony of people who list all the negatives of EVs are the ones who actually make EVs even better. Because of all the complaints more R and D takes place to make EVs more powerful, charge quicker , use more environmentally better materials. Etc etc , so I’m glad there is that crowd . Making EVs better through the negative feedback. Soon we will have EVs with 500 kWh batteries that weigh less than ICE vehicles charge at 2 megawatts, cost less , charge on renewable , have 5000 mile range per charge and probably more .
I'm really looking forward to seeing the Rally version. I wish that version had a little more ground clearance.
Does it still cut full power after 5 sec? The main reason I didn't buy was the 23 no matter what speed after 5 seconds it cuts power. I bought the EV6GT and love it. I almost still bought it this spring after ford cut price another 6k plus 3K cash plus 0% for 72. Now, I want the Inoniq 5N because I am into performance but the improvements on the Mach E seam to make it more competitive. I will say the Brembo brakes and Magna ride suspension on the Ford makes for a nice ride and brakes plenty quick. I do like the BMW wheels and exterior. It is a good-looking vehicle.
I wish they would make a first ten ranchero inspired variant.
They are really nice cars and the refresh is solid. Great appliance and transportation. Please buy a new one so I can buy it used in 3 years for 15k! Thanks!
You're cheap. You probably rummage through people's garbage for food too.
Lol, yah used deals on the Mach-E are awesome.
I would argue as it was always better then Tesla from a build quality and more or less universal repairability perspective. While a Tesla does not have service centres everywhere I am pretty sure there are Ford Dealers in every city across North America
The Model Y has better range, better software, and much better packaging. Cargo capacity and back seat are far superior in the Tesla. Did you see how tight the back seat was? There's a very good reason the Model Y was the best-selling car in the world last year, while this Mach-E doesn't even compete. Although the Mach-E scored well in safety ratings, the Model Y is the benchmark in that category as well.
I own a Mach E, I’ve had zero issues with back seat space and I have two tall kids and a 70 lbs dog
@@fenixashes1 I've been in both on Uber rides. The Model Y is definitely the more comfortable place to be.
Teslas are just better engineered. Mach E is a mess under the hood especially its HVAC.
@@henryyiu618don’t Tesla’s have a very well known HVAC water intrusion issue? It causes owners to report a musty smell.
Love it! Want one for sure!
Do you know if the latest 2023 lfp mach-e packing the same rear engine compare to the 2024?
No. As far as I’m aware, the new motors are exclusive to the 2024s.
Why don’t they tell you what it cost to drive per month compared to a gas car? Can anyone explain that?
Because it depends widely on how many miles you drive
@@CaptainRotmeat
Yes, but I’m sure they have statistics on the average monthly cost of a gas car.
That big screen right in the way of the dash, they could have made that look more intergraded into the dash and not look like it's just stuck to the front of it.
I drove my niece’s brand new red Mustang EV two years ago. My confidence level went through the roof. Reminds me of my first car purchase; a Mustang of course!
This has always been a good looking vehicle. Glad Ford addressed the pricing.
🔥 Happy FRIDAY 🔥
I to pause the video at 3:06 just to look at how many weights where stuck on that wheel and holy crap. And that's just one wheel.
Yowzers!
I still do not fully understand the "trip information" How can I use it to improve my performance or economy of the car.
I bought my Model 3 Performance for that reason, performance…my S550 coupe is no slouch and it’s a smooth ride but the M3P is more fun
I like it. I'm still stuck on Tesla FSD though.
Hi there Roman, I read that Ford was discontinuing the “GT” model?
Maybe just up here in Canada?
I think Motormouth reported that.
I shopped the Y LR vs the E Premium Extended range. It was close. E rode better but the Y accelerated and cornered better. The E had CarPlay but the Y software was better. E had better build quality but the Y felt more luxurious. The seats in the E are excellent. In the end Ford dealer lost it for Ford. More stupid fees, much worse trade in, not as aggressive pricing and since the E is made in Mexico, no/less rebate. It was a great second place and I like the E better than the ID.4 I had.
i LOVE my f150 and will never sell, but when its ev stablemate (a cute little kia ev) needed a replacement we went with a model y. it was cheaper. also, all the bimbo brakes, spinning rims and go-fast stuff is neat... if you're trying to sell to 12 year olds. i imagine not a lot of them are buying any cars much less in the post 60k category.
EVs are amazing as a 2nd vehicle. We mainly drive my wife’s Mach-E, but still have the big SUV for long trips.
We plug it in when we get home and never have to worry about gas. Home electricity is also cheap for us (coal powered, haha) so we can drive all day and it doesn’t cost much.
Totally agree!
It sure does look good
I hooked up my Mach -E to my 220V receptacle, It has a 30A breaker. My battery was at 78%. Several times the breaker tripped. 30a at 220V. that is 6600W. Now you leave your car to charge over night. I am waiting to see the increases on my electric bill.
What was the upgrade? A 5.0 liter?
It looks great!
The Mach-E is definitely getting better. They really need to ditch that Power ON/OFF button on the dash tho.
Major problem with the Ford Mustang's Mach - E trunk. There is NO drain. Any rain water that get in there stays. The trunk is slopped so any water run forward on to the car floor.
Is the weird 5 second power cutoff a thing? Everything else starting to sound pretty decent.
The Mach-E has similar performance limits as other EVs, Ford just is more transparent about it and doesn't hide it behind a turbo button a la the EV6 GT or Ioniq 5 N
Needs more of an update. Maybe 800v and faster charging for the same price and this thing will sell like crazy and it would go on my short list.
This is not a "review" more of a over view.
On my wish list
We are very interested in this car, but we are waiting for them to change the plug. Do you know when they will be doing that?
Nothing definitive has been announced, but I think they initially said they were targeting 2025.
Whenever I hear Mach-E, I remember watching the Munro teardown and seeing that cooling system nightmare hidden beneath its skin.
Having just signed a lease on a Polestar 2, the Mach E is still probably number 2 on my list.

Nice car. Does it tow? The model y can tow 3000lbs.
Depends on where you are, but it's somewhere around 2200 lbs. Probably better for bike racks and the like?
Not in the US, but it does in Europe.
wow nice refresh Ford. better than I thought it would be
Will the new GT still have the 5 second limit before it pulls full power?
Supposedly gone or improved, but I haven't heard any details on how much exactly
Just orderd my first Telsa this month (I'm 58). 2024 Model 3 performance. Ford is nice though.
misc info... Dumped my Cybertruck early order, vought my wife a Maverick XL. So the 2 combined are cheaper than the Cybertruck even without the Foundation charge.
My next car… well maybe not the GT … definitely the Mach-E. I just wish they moved the charge port to the rear driver side.
Too bad you can't spec that on the order.
LOL - I’d love the opposite. My EV is one of the oddballs with a rear port (MiniCooper SE) and I find it a PITA backing into the public bays, especially with other people all jockeying for position when it’s busy. And many public charger cables are so short that I need to back right up to the bollards which then interferes with opening the rear hatch to let dogs out for a pee access luggage etc.
Someone is going to wise up one day and offer BOTH front and rear connections. One “filling” point is legacy thinking from when you needed a short pipe to the fuel tank…
This EV will always have it difficult as it serves so many hater groups: At first there would be the " Mustang" name slapped on a crossover that doesnt wear the design that well, especially in the rear. Then theres the fact its an EV. And then theres the internal competition in the form of the Explorer EV which uses VW EV tech...
I'm excited for the electric future because then we'll also get some niche passion project ice vehicles.
I think these look awesome. The price seems reasonable as well. Ford did a good job with this.
The Rally GT is a tempting replacement for our 21 Premium AWD.
Has anyone seen the videos on Tesla FSD, it’s magical. No way I would consider another EV brand
Here's something bound to upset the fanboys. I have been in both, and the MACH E is far superior. It's a modern design in and out, and doesn't scream cost cutting trying to disguise as "futuristic"
Completely agree. Nothing against the Model Y, but I FAR prefer to drive my Mach-E.
This is Ford brand trying to be premium. This would of been branded a Mercury if that brand was still alive.
Honestly 2021 is the best year for Mach E. comes with way more options and is the most reliable. The power it has on awd is way more than anyone needs. I picked this vehicle over model Y when I was choosing so I have no idea why the title says is it finally better than a Tesla. IMO it was always better than a Tesla
Did u drive it?
Price difference I'd not 1500 😅, when comparing like to like. 2024 model y awd at 310 miles is 49.5k, 2024 mache premium awd er at 300 miles is 57.5k both with destination and no tax incentives.
That's a 8k difference
Still limit full performance to 5 seconds ?
I love EVs. I have had one for 6 years, but I really hate the concentration on performance and I hate the fact that lots of EV manufacturers are concentrating on EVs with exactly the same side profile as an ice car.
I love our Mach E . Not sure if I missed charging rate in your video, but that is what I'm looking for. Charging and Tesla NACS , get it done otherwise its just the same car. Quality feels better than the model Y, range is perfectly fine for us ( extended ) . Don't care if it is a fraction of a second faster, they are all faster than 95% of ICE vehicles, and who cares
They did announce a modest charge speed bump for the ‘24s. I think it was like 10% faster. Noting earth-shattering, and still definitely slower than much of the competition, but better than nothing, I guess. 🤷♂️
I don't think EV is THE future of mobility, but it is definitely a great alternative to ICE, hybrids, and eventually other alternatives. That being said, still not a fan of the Mach Es, it just looks old...not a very timeless design by any means. If they are priced much lower than a Model Y, then I bet it'll attract more buyers.
Which materials and shapes do you want on the dashboard? Yes.
I'm just hoping that Ford will make a EV explorer. It's full time now. But I think if they do. It will kill off the ford Mach e. But I would rather a EV ford explorer with everything in it. Especially the ST version
The frunk does look larger than the one on my Model Y. Only thing I see wrong is the charge port location. Should be on the driver's side rear, then it wouldn't take up two spots at a supercharger location.
Also, the glass roofs are deal breakers for someone like myself who sufferes from very light sensative eyes. Plus, I just don't feel as save in vehicles with them.
Mach E only has it on the highest trim level, and there are aftermarket shades available if you want to cover it up. I agree, though, I'm not a huge fan of the all-glass roofs, especially the fact that most are sealed and can't be opened. I would prefer a traditional sunroof in the front and in the back that can be opened/closed.
@@heinekenswordfish Can you tell me if the top trim Mach E is the only one with the painted trim around the wheels? One of the other things I really dislike is the ugly black plastic all around these vehicels. Yes, my Bolt EV has it too and it's the main thing that I hate about my Bolt. This one I got in black just to help hide the non-painted black plastic. But I also paid less than 25 grand for my Bolt. If I'm paying 35 to 50 grand for a vehicle, it best be fully painted.
No cooled seats still ????
We are putting money on a Rally or GT depending on how the GT gets up the drive way.
The number is either go up or it is not (hint: it is). It not up to us to decide. Data are data. Oh and two years and 30K miles in, I friggin love my Mach-E. Great car.

According to Forbes and Marketwatch the Model 3 costs and average of $3,200 per year to insure and the Camry costs $2,200 to insure. Factor in also you must install a charger at your home for the Tesla. Toyota gives 3 years free maintenance.
Math doesn’t lie, you’re losing $700 per year driving the Tesla without factoring in the cost of the charger install. And yes, I’m an EV owner and drive a Lyriq.
@@atg1338 I rented one for several weeks. IT was a model Y Dual motor. I loved it! I build EV's and Battery Arrays. I have raced EV's for over 50 years. My Model Y got 91 miles on the Autobahn between Heilbronn and Frankfurt. 91 miles from 92soc down to 26soc. Cost to charge back up to over 90soc was between 50-60 usd. Takes about an hour using the fast charge. So when you hear charge and hour to drive an hour, that is about right.
Why no driving impressions and no on road testing.
90 mpge??? Tesla is still 20-30% more efficient and faster charging. Im getting tired of the discussion about a lack of demand for EVs. The lack of demand is for a sub par product being shoveled at a premium price.
From experience this is not the case. If that doesn't convince you, I think Alex on Autos said they tested this multiple times. Check it out.
Having a MME and watching a lot on both it and the MY, my take boils down to the MY being a better EV, while the MME is a better car.
LOVE THE COLOR......I'D TAKE 1
Own a Tesla and a Mach-E. With Magna-Ride the Mach-E is in a entirely different class. If you drive both around the block you might not notice a huge difference, but drive both for 20 miles and there is no comparison in the ride or the NVH. Tesla does a great job of cost cutting but the de-contenting is noticeable. Just pulling a number out of the air, I'd say the Ford is worth $10K more.
No V2L is wild!
Have they reduced the number of cooling hoses and pumps and simplified the system as a whole?
Tesla has pretty much miniaturized the entire cooling and heat pump system. The mach-e seems to be some massive convoluted system utilizing already off the shelf parts that they randomly picked from other ford models.
Global electric vehicle (EV) sales have been growing steadily, with nearly 14 million new EVs registered in 2023, a 35% increase from 2022. This brings the total number of EVs on the road to 40 million. The International Energy Agency (IEA) projects that sales will continue to be strong in 2024, reaching around 17 million by the end of the year
Until I see charging stations in my state, I won't be buying an electric vehicle anytime soon.
It always was. Service, repairs and charging situation just far superior with Tesla forcing us to go Tesla for now although personally prefer ioniq 5 or Mach e
If only Ford could make $$$ on every EV they sell.
I personally Love the MachE. Kudos to Ford for improving their product, especially the GT and the new Rally GT. I’ve owned 5 Mustangs, and am good with the MachE being a Mustang. It has all the Cred making it True to the Breed!
I like that it’s fresher than the Model Y, and you don’t see as many Mach E’s. It has a faster 0-60, same range, and has a frunk. Many competitors don’t have the frunk. I think it’s worth the extra $1,500, unless you really like the “full self driving” capability of a Tesla… but I’m not too impressed by it or enthused by paying $8k to beta test Tesla software.
I’ll keep my Y. Great presentation tho
