      That's not chalk... It's rice powder. Ants would not have to walk too far or too long for a meal. The rice powder also invites birds and other small creatures to eat it, thus welcoming other beings into one's home and everyday life: a daily tribute to harmonious co-existence. It is a sign of invitation to welcome all into the home, not the least of whom is Lakshmi, the Goddess of prosperity and wealth.

    My boyfriend is Indian and he touches his parent's feet whenever he meets them. Initially I found that quite odd since in Italy we re used to hugging and kissing, but when he explained to me the meaning of the gesture, I was amazed. In general the respect that Indians have towards elders is quite amazing and very different from the rest of the world. Maybe you should also include that. Oh and also have you tried Hajmola? ;)

    Edit: I looked up on google it said in Malayalam fennel is "perum jirakam" and cumin is "jirakam". So people like me who didn't know about it got confused. Because in Assamese we got a lot of common words like in Hindi and we know fennel as saunf and cumin as jeera.

So everyone gathered at Lord Shiva's kailas and then they announced a competition.. The competition was to rotate around entire universe for 3 times. As soon as they announced kartikey flew away but Lord ganesh stayed their and he started rotating around his parent and then Lord shiva announced that Ganesh is a winner. This shocked everyone standing there. They were like but ganesh didn't go anywhere he was standing here.. How come he won the competition.. Then Lord shiva smiled and said because he considered his parents as his entire universe and rotate around them thrice. So he's the winner..

I think the situation described in the video was in reference to South India while North Indian languages tend to do the opposite.

    • @sachinkapse110
      @sachinkapse110 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      That's half truth...
      The concept of arrange marriages is actually confluence of two families and not just two individuals..
      Divorce rate is low because Indian couples understand the difference between love together and live together..
      Abuse thing is true in some cases but millions of women who r living happily in arrange marriages and don't want divorce rather are the ones who suffers due to these narratives.
      Indian men and women are intact to traditions and marriage is sacred concept...they don't keep marrying to several people.they know how to handle each other unlike other cultures where people are intolerant..

    I like how this video about India is not just about North India but includes clips from South as well( so happy to see my native Kerala and KSRTC😅) Wish there were some clips from the East as well

    Also the drawings in front of the houses mostly in southern India are not chalk drawings but are called, Kolam or Muggu or Rangoli depending on which state you are in. Mostly they are drawn by coarse flour, or rock powder or plainly colour dyes.
