Don’t worry about when don’t get the jobs because of pricing because they don’t value the skills involved with carpentry, know your worth and seek better opportunities , good luck and keep posting these interesting videos 👍🏻
Can I suggest you just Pasalode the flat part of the skirting and not through the Bullnose. Looks a lot better in my opinion. Keep up the great work . 👍
i know hes young and he will learn ,but there was gaps in the top corners of the architrave thats why he showed no close ups and he obviously caulked them all after
When you asked him to come and watch how you scribe the skirting and his response was ‘why?!’ I would’ve told him to either F off home or sort his attitude out. You treat him very well from what I’ve seen. He should appreciate it
Good video. There's wall to wall carpenters in London and that drives the prices down. What with the congestion charge and ULEZ, my advice is keep out of the place.
The facings if doing on the wall best to do the left or right leg then then the head and finish with the other leg. Or do the head fist then with the legs cut a couple mill longer and spring in giving a tight fit . Fitting both legs then the head you have made the job harder
I enjoyed your video, mate.👍 You probably know, but i use my chopsaw to cut to the scribe to where it needs cutting with the coping saw.👍 Also be a bit careful with working your prices in London, its not always paved in gold. Especially now sunak bugged it up. I am going back15 years certain parts all you was doing was feeding the parking meters😢😢😢 Good luck if you decide to go👍👍
I second that I also use the mitre saw to under cut up to the moulding and I use a jigsaw with a fine cut thin blade to cut the rest. Very quick and easy in fairness.
I’ve been watching this channel about a year or so, and I couldn’t believe my ears at the start of the video when the apprentice say is architrave the thing that goes around the door 🤦🏻♂️,, has he been asleep for two years
He really knows very little he has some way to go. He has a great mentor! He is very lucky. It will take time. With a mentor like that you will get good if you apply yourself and never give up!
Coming from a fellow carpenter/joiner i love this quote i heard from a mate of mine. 'I'm not expensive I'm just not cheap enough for certain people'. I don't get all the job's i quote but the one's i do they know I'm worth what i charge 👍
It’s always difficult to guess/workout time for each job but time brings experience and you will soon be able to judge things more accurately. Don’t be afraid to put in a few decent prices, you need a few well paying jobs. If you have any doubt about the work or even the client, wack the price up! Remember, any fool can work for a loss! If you are thinking about going to London, the biggest challenge is parking so make sure you check it all out, not forgetting all the stupid congestion charges and ULEZ!
Charge according mate, it's not prices too much, it's just times are a little tight for us all. If you can give an estimate over the phone and if there happy go and quote 👍
i have noticed you and the apprentice standing on the skirting and architraves while fitting,i understand that you are limited for space but you are damaging the skirting and could end up twisting an ankle or worse get an injury from a powertool ,something to take on board for the future
Here in the states we call it molding, whether it around the doors windows on the floor it’s called molding, and if you put it around the ceiling it’s called crown molding..
Love how transparent you are, hope the kids learn from you man full on killin it 🔥
Tyrell did alright keep showing up and do your best
Great Job..👌
Thankyou

I'm a self employed domestic Joiner aswell and really enjoying your content. Keep it up my mate you will go far for sure 👍

I'm no carpenter but your apprentice looks like he did a smashing job on the architrave :) smashing job all round 👍
i know hes young and he will learn ,but there was gaps in the top corners of the architrave thats why he showed no close ups and he obviously caulked them all after
Love the channel bro but please up your prices as the quality of workmanship speaks for itself
A right way to start a uk wide business fair play to you, hope all goes well for you.
Mate your prices are good but people want things done for nothing, you got the skills and the tools, believe in your self.

He is very lucky to have a mentor like him. It is rare to be taken care of and guided like that. Very lucky!

I’m west midland based and I work in London for a bit so next year in January I’m working in south Croydon
Great Video and good effort to the apprentice. looks like he's progressing nicely !

Bro you need to make a video on how to lay laminate flooring and beading!
I enjoyed your video, mate.👍

Great video !!!! thanks
Thanks matey I appreciate the kind comments
You didn’t finish the overhang on the window boards. Always looks odd when I see them without the cut ends being rounded off 😢
You should have something in the soil stack pipe as the smells will get into the property 😅
Never seen someone take so long to scribe 1 bit of skirting
How comes you didn’t bullnose the horns of the window board?
I try to be to negative but a lot of what your apprentice does isnt great, but that architrave looked good, hes improving 👍
He really knows very little he has some way to go. He has a great mentor! He is very lucky. It will take time. With a mentor like that you will get good if you apply yourself and never give up!
Not seen many chippies who scribe skirting anymore / most are mitred with CT1
Rough
WRONG most are definitely scribe and not used with CT1.
Why did you do the skirting before the finished floor was done? Or are they leaving the floor like that?
Carpets
Great videos mate!! Just wondering why bother with skirting in the bathroom?
As you've dropped the panelling down to the floor already.
Because decent panelling sits either on or behind the skirting.
i swapped the coping saw for a grinder xD
What would the price difference been not too use MDF?
why didnt u use moisture mdf in bathroom

Hi mate , do you do any site work or just mainly domestic? How do you get so many private jobs?
Great video top-man 👍👍
Your far to cheap 👍
definitely too cheap on that one, we all under price sometimes.
i agree 🥲😅

Mate if you come West London let me know i can get you plenty of work. I will put you in touch with German kitchen company I work closely with.
Didn’t the customer want the Mdf wrapped round the reveal in the bathroom ? Just looks odd the way it stops

coping: you should start coping from the end of the tenon cut ideally. also dont fire brad nails under a socket.
why is the apprentice only with u some times
what is the name of the beat
I bet you've never had clients not pay you have you? You're lucky...
Once
Worst thing ever
Apprentices attitude is shocking
Is that fluff on the apprentices chin 😂
i have noticed you and the apprentice standing on the skirting and architraves while fitting,i understand that you are limited for space but you are damaging the skirting and could end up twisting an ankle or worse get an injury from a powertool ,something to take on board for the future
Do u know what architrave is? Apprentice says “Is that the stuff around the doors” 😂😂😂a see he’s taking his work seriously 🤦♂️🥊
Here in the states we call it molding, whether it around the doors windows on the floor it’s called molding, and if you put it around the ceiling it’s called crown molding..
