Same. My flute was very old though, i would have to get it repaired if i wanted to play again ;-;. Its still playable, but it doesn't look good or sound as good as it once did.
This piece is major music. Takes the instrument to another level. Your writing style is XXI century but rooted in the very first stages of poliphony and modality of occidental music. Humble and simple yet majestic. You are a true artist. Your music speaks to the soul (all your pieces). Also the performer, poetic excellence. This style of composition, though looks simplistic, requires a great performer to achieve the artistry in the musical lines and ensemble.

Years later and I think this is still my favorite of your compositions. It's similar to my own style in a lot of ways, so I'm admittedly probably a bit biased, but the way so many variations arise out of such relatively simple progressions and the simple harmonies all manage to all be so compellingly rich is just unparalleled. The opening is still my favorite part-that and the "quasi echo" bits, those inevitably send chills down my spine. This performance effortlessly captures and creates sounds that I've spent years trying to figure out how to produce from my own writing.
Major props and accolades, sir. All the appreciation.

I played both flute and violin but never found any music that made my instrument/sing - yet, when I was a junior I played descant, tenor and bass recorder- the wooden tenor I had a beautiful warm tone which a hateful judge at a competition I was entered into took great delight in informing me it was "out of tune". (The view I had formed whilst playing was that their accompanying clangy piano was ruining everything!) I was forced to change to a different instrument and forever mourned the loss of that warm sounding music. I'd noticed before, but it is especially audible in this piece as played by flute, the warmth and joy I experienced in playing my wooden tenor recorder. Thank you so much.
Everytime I found a flute song I like , I'll put it into one of my playlist. Nearly every song of your's are in it.

A beautiful piece! I am a double major in Science Education and Music, I am currently at Midwestern State University. I bought this piece and hope to play this at my senior recital with the Pic/Flute 1, Flute 2, Alto, and Bass version. I am basing my recital on meditation and how the pic and flute can help anxiety, I struggle to find pieces like this and so I thank you for making this. I hope to one day buy more music including piccolo pieces.

Your music is utterly beautiful! You write so idiomatically for the flute and I cannot wait to play some of your repertoire...once we can play together again in my quartet and trio soon!
Hurrah! What a wonderful performance! Dear performers (all the four of you)! I congratulate and wish you all the best to perform well in more and more pieces like this. When all the four of you simultaneously play at some parts it slightly sounds like pipe-organ. At some parts where one of you play and other three of you keep silence the voices of everyindividual flute (piccolo, normal flute and alto flutes) is clearly understandable. At some parts where any two of you simultaneously play and other two of you keep silence the voices of the two flutes simultaneously played are also clearly understandable. It slightly sounds like pipe-organ only when all the four of you simultaneously play. It gives pleasant and energetic sense. I like all types of woodwind quartets and quintets either it is composed of similar instrumentalists or different instrumentalists.

The flute is such an underrated instrument and it’s such a shame how so much of the music written for it only showcases it’s ability for runs when it has such beautiful lyrical capacity. Well, it's in midi with a lot of reverb, so it sounds like a larger ensemble. If you like that sound, you might need to double up on all the parts.

Beautiful Maestro Herman. May you explain to me why you have in your composition two different tonality. The upper two flutes are in one tonality the lower two in another tonality a distance of a fifth. Are these flutes transposing instruments or you are using two different scales..? Thank you for a response.

Very nice, but as a person who plays the recorder, I confess that transposed staffs are just strange to accompain. Usually people who play the recorder read music as it's written and change the fingering depending on the instrument at disposal. I had to get used to at least three different fingerings (C, F and G), to play a not extensive répertoire. Very professional players are usually able to add a D fingering to their skills. I'd like to propose to the composer to compose also to recorder ensembles (non-transposed, please).
This gave me exixtential crisis
