Drummer's name is James Gadson. He is 81 years old now in 2020! Gadson's name was mentioned in Rolling Stone's "100 greatest drummers of all time" in 2016. The legend says he is still grooving! However, the original drummer's name was "AI Jackson Jr.". He passed away in 1975. "Ain't No Sunshine" was released in 1971. God rest his soul.

Al Jackson Jr. aka The Human Metronome was also the house drummer for Stax and the drummer for Booker T & The M.G.'s., who were the backing band for an incredible amount of music, including "Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding. The deep soul in his voice, the synchronicity embedded within the rhythm of each musician…they play together like a well oiled machine. The timeless sound is simply transcendental. I hang onto every note and feel every beat.
I’m so sad to hear of Bill Withers passing and in any interview I saw, he radiated kindness, peace and love for all. The first time I heard his song “Ain’t No Sunshine” in 1971, I was captivated by his voice and his lyrics. Bill Withers was a powerful and quiet poet of emotions with a lush, beautiful voice. May this gifted man Rest In Peace. Yes, he sang “I know” 26 times. I loved the song that much. xo

The deep soul in his voice, the synchronicity embedded within the rhythm of each musician…they play together like a well oiled machine. The timeless sound is simply transcendental. I hang onto every note and feel every beat.
We lost our sunshine ☀️ this year. Rest In Peace, Mr. Withers.

Only Bill can say "I know" 26 times in a row and make it sound awesome instead of annoying. One of the greatest songs EVER!
I like your profile picture, Indestructible, nice
Wonder if he knew the lasting effects this song would have on so many people. Many lives were crated in love to this song. Respect to you sir
R.i.p to this legend. Just look at the soul and feel on his face . This kind of love for music isnt expressed the same these days .
I loved the song that much. xo
Hello sunshine, happy new year to you and your family in good health and prosperity.
Hello Vicki

The way the drummer synchronizes with Bill’s tempo, tone, etc…It’s amazing.
Yah, almost like hes a drummer..
@@flukislucas hahaha
that's true
Hi
James Gadson, just an incredible drummer.
I love this song more than any song that I have ever heard. It’s almost like he’s ripping my heart out from the sorrow in the song. Yet it seems to heal any hurt I have ever had in my life because he can reach down so deeply in understanding and I am consoled and happy.
Beautifully put, Maureen.
This song out here making miss a woman who doesn't exist
i'm pretty sure it's an allusion to alcohol actually if i recall correctly. based on a book character or something
DS L 😂😂😂😂 I love this comment!

Don't give up.
I just adore how happy the drummer looks. Song is absolutely amazing as well.

Always felt Bill was incredibly underappreciated as an artist, sadly now he's gone people will probably appreciate him more. Thank you Bill you truly were a great
His purpose is full . 😇🙏
This coronavirus is the worst.
He was out of this world. May he now rest with Marvin Gaye and the rest. Gone too soon, even at 81. Rest Pecefully
Always appreciated this legend of soul. Some of the greatest songs ever written! Sad day!
