My Red 71 Cutlass Convertible has the red SSII wheels like yours. The car has been painted once, but the wheels have not. The paint on them is slightly faded, but they still look decent. I would like to paint them like you did though. I have been hesitant to do them, because of all the work, but you have given me the urge to do them. Do the chrome pieces come off easy, and are they easy to put back on after painting? Thanks for your videos. I think the 71 Cutlass is the nicest of the 70 through 72. Love your green one.
Thank you so much! The outer trim rings do come off and go back on fairly easily, just be sure to line up the valve stem with the cutout in the trim ring and give it a good whack with your fist all the way around, it'll snap into place. The tricky bits are the smaller trim pieces, those come off and on easily enough but you'll need to be more careful of chipping the paint. In video 2 I think I show installing all of the trim pieces
Next time you could buy a cheap deck of cards and bend tuck them around the edge of wheel tire then paint. Good job.
