We all had the same moments as this. Me and my dad bought a 190 2.0 that has a lot of goodies and ready for a daily driven. We had plans to keep it for the rest of our lives. Sadly the car grew older and the fuel regulator almost cost $500 for a brand new one. Even more problems showed up as we found out the floor pan is rusting bad (just so you know we live in a tropical country). We decided to sell the 190e which was painful but we ended up something better and practical. We bought a first gen CRV with only 70km mileage and that car lasted for 6 years in the fam.

These are the questions that face owners of all builds, every day. I own a 2nd generation Legacy wagon (Outback, but when the Outback was still Legacy based). I've been building an engine for it for almost a year now. In that time, I was daily driving the car, as it had a 2.2 swap which we did after the the first 2.5 cannibalized a rod bearing. What brought the car to where it is now (being on jackstands for the last couple of months) was that the 5 speed started dumping all of the gear oil out of it. No trans shop wanted to touch the car (one even went so far as to when it was there for 5 days, they broke it more, although the newly broken item was unrelated to the trans), so I went and picked the car up, filled with gear oil in their parking lot, and drove it 30-40 miles home. Yanked the trans myself with no help (which is more of an act of making it fall as gracefully as possible out of the car), and found a failed input shaft bearing, which was moving the front seal around and causing the leak. So now I'm rebuilding the trans myself, along with the engine. It would be so much easier to dump the thing but 1) has too much sentimental value, 2) I've already invested way too much time and money to let it go, and 3) I have plans for it. To be able to say a project is not worth completion and offload it, while making your money back, however, is a sign of true maturity. Good on you.

Well you did the opposite of me. I had a nice XT with a lot in it for 2 years. It caught on fire and I decided to part it. Wasnt serious damage at all but enough for me to give up on it. Picked up a Legacy GT wagon. Same color as yours. Just have to convert the injectors to top feed because the side feed suck but plenty of parts in it. The XT is an amazing car though and to this day still my favorite.

Really quite sad to find out the gate on the car, especially with how excited and motivated you were to get it back to running in honor of the previous owner. That Forester looks delicious can't wait for content on it, especially with your cinematography I bet you could sucker me into buying a yugo...

It's not a failure dude. You had to.
And after all you got something great enough to fulfill the gap that actually works

I'll admit. Usually I don't like foresters or wagons or any of that stuff, but wow. You guys all make some amazing, gorgeous vehicles that anyone could fall in love with. I've come from loving Mustangs and Camaros and Corvette's and Trucks to appreciating almost all cars. (except the BMW i3. Ew.) Kinda crazy.
We need more bike content though ;D

The revival of this car would have been epic! Sad to see the outcome. I'm glad you tried your best to make some great videos for us. Good luck with the next upcoming projects man! Love your channel and all the hard work you put into them! I may possibly still do a built shortblock and 6 speed swap as I have all supporting mods to go 400+ whp on my 08 lgt as my daily. Maybe you can come to vegas to shoot it? Hehehe

Surprise! I don't know why but of all the Subaru's I have had, Legacies has cost me the most. Good choice to let it go. Wise and brave decision!

Why the hell would you say you are a failure??? That is a bit dramatic and silly bro. You are an inspiration to alot of us and what you have built with gears and gasoline is amazing. Hold your head up higher. Can't wait to see the new build.
