- Chevy has unveiled their Reaper truck, and it looks similar to the Ford Raptor as well as being the Raptor's rival. Volkswagen gives the Golf R the Evo name, so that means it's more hardcore (we guess). Audi boosts its S3 by adding the word Plus, and horsepower too. Also, BMW gives its 7 series the diesel treatment here in the United States, and of course, Commenter of the Week, with a new graphic! That and more all today on Fast Lane Daily, hosted by Derek D!

while i was with my friends at the park i saw a convertible "off roading' at this small area that has dirt and gravel. It was fun to watch but also kind sad xP

What I meant was. Make a lightweight single cab sports truck. Work on the suspension. Better breaks. Firmer ride. Give it the magnetic ride control from the Corvette. Supply it with the LT4. And turn the Silvarado into a Corvette Z06, that can happen to tow other Corvettes around.

Somehow Chevy managed to take a great looking truck, and then make it look pretty hideous. Your opinion on the grill is right on point. Chevy did copy the Raptor, but they did try to change it. The changes they made ruined it.
Just develop a new 7 series and introduce the diesel engine to the U.S. there. The current 7 series can only hope to compare to its competitors, namely the S-Class.
i love chevy but i hate that they copied ford so much like rapter and reaper, why couldn't they come up with a name that didnt sound almost identical to rapter i feel like there trying to piss off ford with this or something lol

IcemanSam650 I can and will argue with that, and all i will say is Ford has the best selling truck for 37 straight years. So there really is no room to argue for Chevy, and i seriously doubt the Reaper will outsell the Raptor's 13,000 units in 2013.

I own a 2012 5.0, but I am not a Ford guy. I actually prefer Chevy trucks and SUVs over Ford...but that Reaper is ugly! Ford raptor looks much better.

Chevy Reaper, hell why not. I prefer my horsepower light and low to the ground but there is a market for overly powerful heavy lifted trucks. Chevy is a great company and Lingenfelter basically turns whatever they touch into gold so it should be a solid vehicle. Do I think it will be an overall better truck than the raptor? Yes,
Chevy is coming out with a truck in the same market as the Raptor so I only expect it to be equal or better than the Raptor.

i like the reaper more personally because the more "GMC" style look to it with more square edgy design, i just hate that grill the grill is bad. also i think they need to remove the chevy logo and put a new graphic to show its there sport truck not just rebadged. overall i think it looks better the the raptor (but not the grill)
Just a thought but isn't the Reaper and raptor suppose to be a pre-runner kind of truck. With that being said shouldn't they look like that, wide body, raised bumper, etc. I get the sticker are the same but who puts stickers on a truck. I guess what im trying to say is Chevy and ford let me test drive each and lets see the real differences besides looks.
looks like they took a silverado and tried to make a raptor, then couldn't decide on war grille to use then tried to copy a rams grille and gave up half way and decided ehhh good enough…. that being said I'm sure it'll be a good truck if you're into the whole desert pre-running theme, its just ugly as shit

I like the Reaper because I loved the Raptor, lets hope Dodge jumps on the bandwagon with a sort of Ram 'Ram'page, I dunno, also I wonder when the polo will possibly get the same stuff as the golf, a 320BHP Polo would definitely not be a car I would want to mess with,

I've been watching FLD for about 7 years now and every single new thing y'all have added has been an improvement. Fast Facts (a woefully un-noted addition), Rapidfire News, Friendsday Wednesday, just to name a few, have added to the viewing experience overall and ramped up the amount of content we get to see every day. I love it! Keep killing it FLD.
The reaper and the raptor are both overpriced. If you want an offroad capable vehicle you're much better off buying the stock version of the Sivlerado or F150 and building it with aftermarket parts. Maybe someday Ford or Chevy will be smart enough to partner with offroad suspension companies and build a capable vehicle, instead of one that merely looks capable.
You know, I'm a Chevy guy through and through, and I really dig the new gen Silverados, but for once I'd love to see GM do something original and or groundbreaking instead of always nipping at the heels of Ford. For example, the Code-130R concept was a great freaking start, something to really make some headlines with other than the all to familiar; "Oh well, Chevy builds a several-years-too-late competitor to an extremely niche product from Ford."
The grill looks like a Tundra, and it probably could've looked good if they had changed the headlights, but it just doesn't go. Also, those tires are useless if you're rocking 22 inch rims.
I love the Reaper, Chevy. I can respect the need to compete in a segment that doesn't even exist for you, but honestly, you couldn't have done a better job at being unoriginal. Your normal trucks could never compete with Ford's F-Series anyway, so what the hell makes you think your version of a "hardcore off-roader" would be anything but a sad and pathetic knock off of the Raptor? For God's sake, you even copied the name, graphics, body kit, and suspension! So like I was saying, I love the Reaper. It exposes you as the shoddy, unoriginal, runner-up company you really are. Come up with your own vehicles and give me my tax dollars back!
Please keep putting the car's statistics like hp, tq, weight at the bottom of the screen like you did for the Audi. It was nice consuming the information both ways, audible and visual. Thanks.
Hey Derek D you asked how we felt about the new Chevy Reaper? MAn If I wanted to buy an ugly Raptor I'd just pick up a car tester from the scrap yard. Can't wait to see what Dodge and their RAM division might have to say about the extreme pick-ups.

Honestly after seeing the teaser video I had big hopes for the reaper. All I can say now is wow, chevy f'd up. So ugly, the fenders look like sqaures. The front end has down syndrome and it blatantly copied the sticker on the rear...fail fail fail

I like jeep, ford and Chevy but hate dodge, only good thing about dodges is they still give the option for a manual transmission. But come on Chevy why copy ford raptor, think of something different. I know the trucks are different but Personally I like the raptor. just like my Yamaha raptor :) but yea I choose the one with most performance because its all personal opinion. But if dodge try's to copy the rappy I suggest not...
The Reaper . . . Oh dear, I personally think the designers at Southern Comfort had a little too much of the wobbly pop one night, designed and named said "Reaper", then past it off for production aproval before anyone said anything. I can imagine it will perform fantasticly HOWEVER, the design (in my personal opinion) needs some reconsideration.

Don't see why everyone assumes the Reaper will be worse because it's not factory built. Car companies are massive with hundreds of different departments, so the fact it's in-house is pretty irrelevant surely. And also the raptor was hardly perfect with the frame bending, maybe Lingenfelter and SoCo have designed a more durable pickup. And the graphics are optional stick-ons, probably just aimed at Raptor fans anyway so people should stop with hashtag team internet-bandwagon bullshit

I think that chevy was trying to make competition for the raptor, but they also stole some parts. I love chevy, and I'm not a fan of ford, but they stole the way that ford uses the graphics and how ford uses a different grill. Now I feel all ford did to the f-150 was put in a different grill, suspension, and graphics, and called it a raptor. I think chevy just was trying to show that it is not to hard to creat one of these trucks. I expect that dodge will soon announce a future truck like these too.
The one thing I don't like about the reaper is the body does not match the grill. The grill looks sharp and boxy, which I like, but the truck is round, it makes it look wimpish.

I think Chevy has given a valiant effort at making a Raptor competitor, but it seems like Chevy just tried to copy a already great machine. On that alone I would have to pic the Raptor, but I also prefer the styling of the Raptor.

I'm not a fan of edgy cars, but they made that Reaper look good, I don't think it looks like a Raptor, only the decals looks a bit similar to the Raptor's, but both have their own unique features, the Raptor is more curvy, it be hard for me the choose between the two of em, they're both very sexy.
Dont like eather reaper or raptor but I love baja trucks. So ford and chevy,,,, get it together. Do better!!!! Make an effort the performance and styling suck compared to trophy trucks. What im saying is make a street legal trophy truck dumies
I think the Reaper is fine. What's wrong with the Raptor? Nothing. So I think it was smart to just copy an already great truck and just have the badge for people who want to stick with their favorite brand. Its a Raptor for Chevy guys that's all and that's smart.

The Reaper is similar to the Raptor In many ways. With the intro of the new aluminum F150 and death of Fords 6.2, It's a great time for Chevy to get in the market. To bad it isn't right from the factory, and if the price is right I'd get one over a Raptor!
Team Raptor. The Reaper may have some performance advantages, but it's front looks stub-nosed and lame, and really 99% of owners won't off-road and so it's looks matter.

The Reaper is a pure copy. Sure it adds a supercharger and the Raptor is NA, but the graphics and fender flares and entire look scream "we don't know how to do this, just copy that."

I was excited for the Reaper just from the little teaser but that grill is just ugly. It needs to be bigger and match the rest of the front fascia better. And yes, they have obviously got inspiration from the Raptor. I'm still pretty excited about it.

The Reaper disgusts me because of how much they try to copy the Ford, its not original at all... Like how Derek mentioned about those stickers is true, it looks almost identical to the raptor and they also use the same Fox suspension too. I personally think the Reaper looks hideous!
The reaper is ok but they should have used better hinges for the hood so it didn't slip down over the grille like that, I'm sure Ford hinges aren't that flimsy.
