    CORRECTION: Remarkable flip book folio DOES have a magnetic strip to hold the cover closed.

      Yes, a very good idea to keep the folio closed. But it's even more a pity that it doesn't allow auto-wake up...And bravo for the video and its exact duration of one hour to the second!

    I just bought a note air, It now comes with the screen protector applied from the factory so its writing feels is much improved, its better as good if not better than the remarkable 2 which it replaced. I replaced the remarkable many because the notes are just not readable once you export them but it was also just to limited in functionality. So far the Note air feels generations above the remarkable 2.

    I bought the Note Air 4 months ago. I always look at your reviews with pleasure.
    it's all true what you say. My summary is that the note air is a tablet with an e-ink display. This is its best advantage, but this is its biggest flaw. It does a lot of things, but it doesn't excel at any of them, and if you put together the cost for accessories and improvments, it equals the cost of the RM2 complete with everything..
    In summary
    Tot. Note Air: 640 €
    Boox note air: 480 €
    Protection cover: 40 € (changed 3 times)
    Pen Improvement: 80 € (because the original is cheap)
    Improvement of writing: 40 € (doodro film)
    time spent: xxx hours
    Total RM2: € 640
    Remarkable 2: 640 €
    Native Cover: 140 € (leather)
    Pen: Marker plus (100 €)
    Device: 400 €
    Time taken: 30min to place the order.
    My experience with the device;
    I bought the Note Air 4 months ago (480 €), and it is still with me. But I would not give 8.3 as a rating, I would say a maximum of 5.5.
    Personally, I need an object that replaces the paper notepad, and allows me to view what I write in the conference calls. Obviously without losing my notes. It all ends here. I believe that anyone who comes close to these devices is looking only for this. The Note Air potentially does a lot, but nothing done excellently.
    And the accessories:
    Boox Cover (€ 40)
    A defect of the note air, which really disappointed me, is the quality of the accessories. The original covers are cheap. And there are no alternatives, as its form factor is atypical.
    I changed 3 original Boox folio covers in 4 months, and thanks to Amazon, I was able to make returns. All with the same defect: the plastic part breaks after 1 month, and the protective grommets disintegrate even earlier.
    the Improvements:
    Pens (€ 80)
    The original Boox Styilus is really bad and basic.
    I bought the Samsung S6 Pen (+ 40 €). Everything ok, it writes better than the original, it is magnetic, and it has the erase function. But it's not a comfortable pen, you can't write for long sessions, it wasn't meant for that, and the original Nibs can't be found, and it's now in the drawer.
    I bought the Staedtler Noris Digital Jumbo (40 €). Perfect, but it's not magnetic, I don't know where to store it when I'm not using it, and I have to keep it in my pocket or purse, and a nibs has already been damaged for that.
    writing feeling (38 €)
    Let's face it, writing on the note air, with the Noris Jumbo is certainly compared to the original pen, but you always have the feeling of writing on a glass (like a tablet, let's be clear in saying it).
    So, I bought the Doodroo Paperlike Screen Protector For Boox Note Air. Feeling improved, but after a while, it lost its roughness, plus the nibs wear out very quickly.
    In summary, Boox note Air, has the approach of Android devices, promises a lot, achieves a lot, but does not excel in any of them.
    Personally I believe that the RM2 pushes a lot on marketing (a lot of marketing), it does little, but some things it does in an excellent way, and the cost in the end is the same.

      I got the RM1 with the Pen and Folio for $299. Considering the software limitations, they really should be selling the RM2 with the pen and basic folio for $350. The magnets are along the side of the case where the pen goes.

    I have been using Boox note air 2 plus for a couple of days and I am really happy with it. I feel bad for not having it for a long time and wasted so much time is researching for Remarkable 2. One of my classmates uses Remarkable 2 and as much as it looks smart, NA2P is way ahead. The writing experience is great, there is a back to school scheme going which costed me 500 euros for the tablet, two pens (with and without eraser), 5 extra pen tips, and the case. What annoyed me from R2 is that everything single thing that you really got to have has a cost attached. Not even the pen is free with it!! You have to buy conneccting to cloud for a monthly fee, have to buy pen and the case separately which made its cost come around 490 euros. I am really happy with my Boox tab.

    This is brilliant! Thanks so much for this detailed review, I really needed this, great content 🙏. I was really close to buy remarkable 2 but all the reviews regarding them being non-responsive and unhelpful when it comes to issues really put me off and was worried to go ahead with the purchase. Your detailed review of these 3 really helped me decide to go for super note. Thanks a million! 🤗

    If remarkable doesn't fix their horrible software or open source it, they are going to be left behind. You can't rest upon the "writing feel" forever. That novelty only lasts so long, and the dev team at Remarkable is simply not listening to the community. No worries. We will simply move on to your competitors, dinguses. Great review

    Would love to buy the Boox Note but read quite a lot of forum posts about battery issues and that the service is limited to replace them. Who would expect expanding batteries in a tablet/reader ?!?!?!!?

    Voja, awesome channel and great reviews! Question: The RM2 has had numerous software updates that you've reported on since you did this review in February. If you were to do this comparison today, would the Supernote A5X still be a better choice for note taking than the RM2?

I also would like to add that now the onyx note air is shipped with the protective film already on. It might be useful to know for potential buyers. Thank you for your help🙏

    so if I want to buy a pad purely for taking notes with the closest feel to actual paper writing, which one should I buy? You can also include options which require a different stylus.

  • @JimDavies42
    @JimDavies42 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interesting consideration on the cost of the tablets. I bought the Remarkable 2 yesterday and found that there really was no "default" pen or cover. Both are optional purchases when you build your package and you can chose neither (thought I chose both.) As a result you could purchase a R2 with a Lamy pen and third party cover without throwing money away on default accessories you don't want. This I really apprecated.

    • @MyDeepGuide
      @MyDeepGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      While technically true, you will really want a cover of some sort, because this expensive device is quite fragile, because of it's thinness. As for the pen, again, while technically true, yes, you can buy a Lamy pen, but you don't have the magnets in it and you can't use the eraser button without hacking the device and breaching the terms and conditions of use of the device. So, in reality, overwhelming majority of buyers will opt to buy a cover or folio and a pen of some sort, and the price mentioned reflects that reality.

    • @JimDavies42
      @JimDavies42 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MyDeepGuide I didn't realize the eraser button didn't work with it on the R2. I had been trying to find out more about the compatibility on that one. That's a shame as I love Lamy pens.

    I am sorry, I could not catch your name well. Is it Voya?
    Your review is wonderful & DEEEEEEEEEP indeed! Hence the reason, I spent the whole hour to view the entire video.
    I need a couple of tips or clarifications, please..
    1. This is May 2022 now so, is there anything that may have changed since to find favour in the Remarkable 2?
    2. Is there any third party peripherals that can enhance the functionality of Note Air.. with regards to Pen/Stylus, Writing/drawing feel & the protective case cover.. I am contrasting directly with the SuperNote A5X as you cite in the video.. for its superior quality and ability in these?
    3. Like that Ceramic tip stylus, can it be used on the Notre Air or a Lamour Stylus pen?
    Thank you
    Kiran

    GREAT review! ... I had ordered the reMarkable, but I managed to cancel it. reMarkable looks very cool, but I now see that it has SO many deficiencies that would have made it undesirable for me in the long run. I have now ordered a Boox Note Air, because it delivers the advantages I consider most important to me. Perhaps reMarkable will improve with future updates, but I just can't wait for that.

    I'm trying to decide between the Quaderno Gen 2 Comparison, Onyx Max Limi and Papyr devices(13.3" screens). I'm a designer (architectural, kitchen and bath) and would be using it to record drawing layouts and measurements while on site along with signing contracts/documents(PDF's) also while on site. I would then need to take those notes and signed PDF's and upload them on my computer. Which would be the best device for this type of use?
    LIKE-
    Quaderno Gen 2: Newer/faster hardware, the ability to use any pen
    Onyx Max Limi : The ability to use layers, back light, more overall options
    Papyr: Price, speed/latency
    Most important - 1.speed/latency and ease of import and 2.export of notes and signed documents/pdfs
    Thanks for your help

    There is a I've heard described as a "ink" takes to dry (the delay of e-ink technology, that comes off as a lag experience to me) when writing on the air 2. When writing things seem slightly delayed. Does the Supernote have this?

    Hi Voja and thanks for your deep and objetive reviews. I am an onyx nova 3 user thinking about moving to remarkable or note air. I have a question about how much dark is the Ink and how much white is the canvas in three devices? I don’t like the light and I know contrast only changes how visualize graphics, so, if there is any difference it will be useful for me. Thanks.
