Hashoshi, great video. I've used both the Nano S and Nano X for over a year now. Initially, the Nano X was a huge improvement over the Nano S in terms of functionality. However, the user interface updates Ledger has incorporated on Ledger Live for the Nano S have significantly improved the user experience. My take? If you only are holding a few different types of tokens (less than 10), the Nano S will likely be sufficient. If you're trying to store multiple different tokens on a single device, the Nano X will be a big time saver and is probably worth the extra cost.

Great vid!👍 A few comments, you can fix the floppy folding metal cover by simply pulling it off (yes it just lifts off) then press the metal cover together so that you bend it slightly, so that when you put it back on it sits much tighter and doesn't flop about. Hey Wade - my recommendation would be to move to an exchange service that offers the best fees and spreads and stick with that. The fees you’ll pay on blockchains are lower than those you’d pay to convert and withdraw so that part is worth it. To keep your privacy in mind, KYC on ONE exchange you like and then use that exclusively. It limits the # of parties who have your personal info and makes things less complicated. How can you help me, please. If I purchased a Nano X, how do I get my coins off especially since I can't get pass the stuck "bootlogger" screen?
Hi there, what is your take on Ledger Nano X Hardware Wallet, my concern with it is, of what use is it if the Ledger Live platform is removed from the system at anytime, how do you then access your bitcoins, because the hardware wallet itself acts as a Safe to store your pincode that gives you access to the Ledger Live Platform where you can see your balance and transact if you need to. I may be short sighted and hope not, but it seems to me, there is no difference in using your phone to interact with a Software platform or Exchange and even adding Google Authenticator for further security. Please Help, I would love to get your opinion on it.
I am scarred by my poor experience I had with the Ledger Nano S. I will NEVER buy a new Ledger product. Having said that , if I had a Ledger X, perhaps I would not have had any issues. I am perfectly happy with the Trezor Model T.. In the future, I could consider a real upgrade (Forrest has reviewed more expensive and more innovative products in the past). However, it seems to me Trezor and Ledger want to be more than wallets, so maybe we will all need one or the other forever!!
I cannot blame you one bit for that. They ironed out the bad bugs with the Nano X so that's good news, but the Model T is a top to bottom nice wallet. I actually owe it to the T to make a new review :) I love mine
Hey dude. Been watching your bids for a while and I heard you were getting married today. Congrats my dude. I love your vids and this honest review of the nano x. Gonna grab one today!
Interesting video. You mention other cold storage wallets. Have you had a chance to review the Trezor model T?. I’m finding reviews for both products to be all over the map good bad and ugly. Thanks!
I find it weird that these hardware wallets still look like a 2000's device. I mean, it's 2021...why do they still have these tiny screens, monochromatic with two damn buttons on top of it?.. Why don't they make a decent hardware with a decent interface and all the safety it already has? What's the point? That somebody will be looking over your shoulders watching your transactions? From that perspective, I think Trezor is a step ahead. Sadly they don't cover so many cryptos as ledger x. To me it looks like a good strategy for continuing launching improved, bigger, easier to use versions in the future off our pockets. In 5 years all these HW wallets will be obsolete.
Something else worth sharing is how the tool works in practice. For example, if I send ERC20 USDT to the Ledger, I have to pay the withdrawal fee in ETH and that is expensive. Such information is also, etc.
@@Hashoshi4 What happens to the crypto accounts of the nano s if i use the 24 word phrase to instantly install the newly received nano x? I can imagine they amounts of coins cannot be available on both of the ledger sticks on the same time?
@@saheednabie7084 your 24 words is not device specific and fits ANY "wallet". These programs do not store coins, only your private key that you use to access your funds on the block chain. Download as many "wallets" as you like, desktop, mobile, type your seed into all of them and see what happens. Then delete them all cos unless you are buying or selling you don't actually need them .
@@symfotroll so basically there is no backup, I asked this because on forums I read you could use the nano x as a backup for the nano s. But that is a fairy tail. yah the backup is your 24 words seed... anyway thanks for explaining!
if you can get your coins back when your ledger brake, means your coins not on the wallet, so the coins on the blockchain im so confused what is the point of getting diss wallet if its not inside it
It stores your private keys which means you own the Crypto If it's left on the exchange, you don't have the private keys, the exchange does which means you don't really own the Crypto
How many tokens or coins can you hold at once per coin app? I don’t mean the supported apps, if I have 4500 XRP for example can the ledger nano x support that much of xrp at once? Or more? And if it does can I also add another 1,000 of Bitcoin as well for example? I keep seeing videos about reviews but nobody ever answers that question.
I did a quick coin search to see if the Nano X supports my coins... it supports 4 out of 8 ( I stop counting after that, but these were my 8 biggest assets ). So not entirely sold. Then again, I tried the Trezor and that one also lacks support for several of my coins. But after careful consideration I think I might not go for a hardware wallet solution. Nano X ( which would be one of my top choices ) is too tiny, and therefore easy to lose. Having worked in the tech industry for years, it is well known that the smaller something is, the easier it is to lose. Therefore, if you absolutely need to have a hardware device to store something very valuable, make sure it's big enough. And if all of the hardware wallets are tiny, don't buy any of them.
hahaha. your comment amuses me. its a fair concern, but no, your bitcoin is your bitcoin. the amount you own never changes. the only thing that changes is the main value as a whole. if it goes up, the value of your stored currency "goes up"
@@SikDigitz thank you for this response because I wondering about that. So if I have 10 bitcoins on coinbase and put it on the ledger nano x... I’ll still have 10 bitcoins but if the value goes up so will my stored bitcoins.

very new to hardware wallets here. just installed the device and BTC app on it. just send $50 to make sure everything went smoothly before sending a larger amount. if BTC price goes up or down would it show in my ledger? is there a way to refresh to see if im losing money or making money? any help would be great

Ledger website says nano X can manage more than 1500 tokens. Speaking hypothetically Let's say I have 10,000 XRP; would I be able to put all 10,000 XRP on 1 nano X? Or would I need mutiple cold storages? I'm new to crypto thanks
i have Atomic Wallet and I like it. I also have BC Vault as long term cold storage. I recently bot THETA and am having a hard time transferring it to my wallet. Whats an easy way to move it? Also, I want to use another online wallet, one that supports THETA. Which one would you suggest?
My brand new ledger nano X which I ordered from ledger website. When I opened it is showed 26 % charge. How it possible a new nano X already partially charged? Is it normal? Or I got a used one. Please help with advise.
I would only order from Ledger direct unless they recommend Amazon directly (like SafePal does). The Nano X is a secure wallet and has a secure element, if you're worried about tampering I recommend creating a seed, then wiping the wallet, then creating a new one again to stop pre-boot attacks
The fact that it has a battery is terrible. There’s a reason Edward Snowden would remove the battery from his phone instead of just turning it off. Most people don’t need to be regularly transacting tens of thousands of dollars of crypto while on the go. Might as well just transfer what you need to a properly secured phone hot wallet. The reason people buy a dedicated piece of hardware for storing crypto is for piece of mind that their coins are safe and offline without having to possess the technical expertise to implement an air gapped system. Instead they should focus on making their devices as fool proof as possible and a better overall UX. Most people I know in crypto get nervous whenever they have to make a crypto transaction, not annoyed that they have to plug in their hardware wallet into their computer.
While I acknowledge Snowden’s approach to batteries within mobile devices, I don’t believe these two are analogous. A cell phone is an “always on, always connected” sort of deal, it has connectivity to the internet. None of these wallets do, so a battery is not a gaping security hole or opaque connectivity threat like it is in a cell phone. I agree that UX should be a priority, which is why I think the Nano X is quality. It fits the avg. user’s usage pattern for modern tech. In most of these videos, my point to the audience is to use a Nano X for your day to day, use a more robust open source wallet and/or non deterministic wallet to store long term and never take it out of the safe place. Obviously all personal opinion and by no means am I intending to invalidate your opinion. Thanks for watching and commenting

Hello Hashoshi: I've written you about my problem with upgrading my Nano S. I had several questions. I really need to upgrade my Nano S firmware but I
can't get past the bootlogger. How can you help me, please. If I purchased a Nano X, how do I get my coins off especially since I can't get pass the stuck "bootlogger" screen?
Did you sort this? I fixed this by rebooting my machine in safe mode and connect to the internet via ethernet cable as wifi doesn't work in safe.
Can the 24 recovery phrase from my exiting nano S be restored on a new nano X ledger?
Yes
Just what I needed! Great stuff
This guys says it took him 2 minutes to figure X out. It took me 2 months! I love it but Ledger’s lack of a simple PDF to help navigate is nuts.
It took me awhile too, I found it frustrating, why does it have to be so small?

What kind of camera do you have it your face looks 4k on my iphone se 2016 thats only 720p and runs youtube 1080p
No issue with the s or x. You al are tech noobs or something.

Not at all. Ledger was not compatible with my devices
Hey dude. Been watching your bids for a while and I heard you were getting married today. Congrats my dude. I love your vids and this honest review of the nano x. Gonna grab one today!
Did you grab one? What are your thoughts ?
So is this device basically a digital and hands on wallet that you can store your crypto on would you recommend it over coinbase
They took your advice with the seed phrase and updated the process!
I am trying to connect my ledger to metamask and facing other issues too. I can’t get in touch with ledger support. Someone help
Interesting video. You mention other cold storage wallets. Have you had a chance to review the Trezor model T?. I’m finding reviews for both products to be all over the map good bad and ugly. Thanks!
What is the most user friendly and or best hard wallet device not taking cost into account?
Nano X is most user friendly IMO, or the Trezor T.
Just bought Ledger Nano X with your affiliate link. It's time I moved from Electrum
Elecrum? Hah more like rectum.
well said. I'm still looking for a hardware wallet to get and I think I have finally chosen the one, really appreciate the good content.
Did u Get this One?? How is it ?
Is it easier for storing Cardano? Because on the Nano S it's a pain so I held off on storing it.
is there a monthly subscription fee for the nano? if so, how much is it? heard about it but could not find it on their website. Thanks
No there is no subscription or monthly fee
Model t or nano X? What supports more coins ( xrp, zill, etc) thanks
X hold up to 100 different coins I think
Hi Hashoshi..... does the Nano X work well with Windows 10? Please advise.
What does re-seeding your wallet mean? Should I do that? I just got one, I set it up, but haven’t transferred any crypto onto it yet
I’m using a ledger nano s. Can i use the 24 word phrase to instantly import it to the nano x if I buy it?
Yes indeed :)
Yep
Hashoshi, thanks for the great video. I’m just wondering, what’s your opinion on TREZOR T?
I like the T. It's a good quality device. The touch screen is a nice touch... pun intended
Anyone know if there are any plans for coinjoin functionality like with Trezor? Is coinjoin any good?
I bought it but don't have SLP and Axs token in those lists, really wasted money
if you can get your coins back when your ledger brake, means your coins not on the wallet, so the coins on the blockchain im so confused what is the point of getting diss wallet if its not inside it
It stores your private keys which means you own the Crypto
If it's left on the exchange, you don't have the private keys, the exchange does which means you don't really own the Crypto
Nobody answers the question because it’s silly. You must be new to crypto 😂
I need help connecting my metamask with Ledger…. Please help, nothing seems to be working
How does it work? If I transfer my Bitcoin to this device, how will it appreciate/depreciate in value. How do I cash out when I’m ready?
hahaha. your comment amuses me. its a fair concern, but no, your bitcoin is your bitcoin. the amount you own never changes. the only thing that changes is the main value as a whole. if it goes up, the value of your stored currency "goes up"
@@SikDigitz thank you for this response because I wondering about that. So if I have 10 bitcoins on coinbase and put it on the ledger nano x... I’ll still have 10 bitcoins but if the value goes up so will my stored bitcoins.
@@quietone1201 yes.
@@SikDigitz that’s awesome. Preciate that.
Whats the actual point in sending it to the nano x lets say from your binance? Can anyone help me
Nice to see you back and in good shape..
How would you rate the Ledger versu Safepal?
By the way.. liked the T-Shirt ;)
likewise! good to be back. Between the two, the Ledger is nicer overall but the SafePal is an unbeatable deal for what it is
thanks about the T shirt btw :) cheers
very new to hardware wallets here. just installed the device and BTC app on it. just send $50 to make sure everything went smoothly before sending a larger amount. if BTC price goes up or down would it show in my ledger? is there a way to refresh to see if im losing money or making money? any help would be great
Your updated balance will show in the Ledger Live app on mobile or desktop, whichever you use
@@Hashoshi4 so the app has access to your coins/wallet without the device?
Every wallet online device is have 95% chance to be attacked by someone outhere, but some offline wallet like coldcard is safe cause it feature (psbt)
My wife and i both have crypto in seperate accounts but both on coinbase. Do we both need a seperate ledger or can we combine them on 1?
You can use 1 but will need to set it up as new device and get 2 x 24 word seed. Its a Hassle fór trading because you Always need to reset to thé seed you need. But for hodling its no problém. You can generate as many seeds you want.
I’ve recently experienced glitches on the screen. Major prices differences in the app from the market. I’m concerned. This doesn’t bode well for my future with them. At this point I say it sucks.
Did you log a ticket?

Hashoshi you guys recommend nic vault or nano? I’m new trying to get a good first wallet.
Hashoshi and if the nano can connect to my phone that might make it the winner
Ledger website says nano X can manage more than 1500 tokens. Speaking hypothetically Let's say I have 10,000 XRP; would I be able to put all 10,000 XRP on 1 nano X? Or would I need mutiple cold storages? I'm new to crypto thanks
i have Atomic Wallet and I like it. I also have BC Vault as long term cold storage. I recently bot THETA and am having a hard time transferring it to my wallet. Whats an easy way to move it? Also, I want to use another online wallet, one that supports THETA. Which one would you suggest?
I know this is a semi old video. But in your opinion what would the cutoff amount be for someone without a hardware wallet to purchase one?
What ever the amount is that will devastate you
I actually just won one of these, 11months later.. are you still using it?
My brand new ledger nano X which I ordered from ledger website. When I opened it is showed 26 % charge. How it possible a new nano X already partially charged? Is it normal? Or I got a used one. Please help with advise.
Anyone?
@@cookingonthefly3743 it's fine, my one was sealed and the battery was around 15% don't worry
How safe are the X's? No tamper proof holograms upon purchase? Would you order them off Amazon's sponsored page with the companies hyperlink attached?
I would only order from Ledger direct unless they recommend Amazon directly (like SafePal does). The Nano X is a secure wallet and has a secure element, if you're worried about tampering I recommend creating a seed, then wiping the wallet, then creating a new one again to stop pre-boot attacks
@@Hashoshi4 Hell yeah man... awesome advice!...thanks bro🙏🤙
@@Hashoshi4 so what happens when the battery dies
if I only have xrp on coinbase do I want to buy a nano ledger?
What about the ELLIPAL GOLDEN TITAN
Is it a good wallet?
No
This shit is hot ass. Cant trade on ledger live. You have to send it out then trade on something like coinbase. Been having it for a few months now and every single time is failed me.
Would you recommend a part of the X another X or S as HW backup for extra security?
Either way works :) the X has less annoying little hiccups updating, so that's the only reason I'd take it over the S as a backup
Hi there great vid! In your opinion is it worth it to get this device if you take profits regularly and send tokens/coins from ledger to exchanges back and forth…? I am thinking of always sending the exact amount of tokens i want to take profits with from the ledger to the exchange.. I would appreciate your feedback as you said you are using this device daily so I am assuming you do something similar to what I want to do… thanks so much 🙏

Are transfer fees high from nano to coinbase or vice versa
That's something Coinbase sets
The price has got nothing to do with Ledger, it's just a hardware wallet
I've gone through many external hard drives over the years. What happens if this goes down or malfunctions? Do you loose everything?
@Paladin Stacker you don't need a nano to access your funds on the block chain, your seed is not device specific and fits ANY keyring that we incorrectly call wallets.
The only loss is the money you spent buying all these useless things.

In terms of Canadian exchanges, for BTC, Bull Bitcoin is nice. I also think that there are many who like BitBuy.

Good question, together with Nano the only three coins I hold long term 👌
I bought this early 2022, I reset it and updated Ledger live and now the device wont send or receive...Ledger refuses to help or replace the device and has asked, 'that I video trying to use it then upload it to youtube" for them to decide whether they'll be replacing my device...Ive spent $120 AUD on a useless piece of junk and am being made a mockery of as a consumer. Do yourself a favour and get a Trezor as this is rubbish and so is their support.

Connectivity-wise, after I upgraded my firmware I had to erase Bluetooth connected device on my phone and pair it again.
I have one and the black bottom seems a lil weak and I’m scared it’ll stop responding but everything else is great
If the device ever were to break, as long as you have the keys you can recover it
The plastic part? Without a big crushing blow I think it'll be durable. Regardless, crypto is safe if your 24 words are safe :)
