Having spent over 60 months deployed here and there and while preparing to retire in July I must say, I love the stories from the GWOT and different perspectives. It’s kinda like therapy man. Thank you guys for what you’re doing. It’s also recording history. Something that generations before us missed a lot of. Keep em coming!
I didn't know who the heck this guy was before clicking on this video but hearing his story made me see him as an old friend at the end of it. I never got in the military during 2001 which would have been the times during high-school I could have joined to go to Afghanistan but I always lived my life trying to emulate the discipline to this day. I really love hearing these stories and more and more I realize what a horrible decision it would've been for me to join as much as I regret not going. I love these stories and am grateful for the service and sacrifice our service people commit to in the United States. Thank you.
Listening to your story of life after just getting out, I knew my son was going through something similar. As a father I had a clue what he was experiencing, but had no clue as how to help. I trust he is better now but I worry. A parent's love is without end.
I was with the same platoon in the early 1990's. Were they still called the "Mad Slashers" during your time? The arrival sounds the same. Flying into Seatac high on life, new black beret (in my time), a couple of days at the 525 then over to the Quad behind the fence. My first smoking was the night I got there. I didn't snap to parade rest while pissing into the urinal while responding to an E-6. Getting smoked is kind of funny when you think about it 30 years later. A lot of great Rangers came out of that platoon. I'm not one of them but it was one of the best times of my life.
1:32:48 I think you're talking about the K-12 saw. And were the extrication tools that were brought in battery operated? Or gas generator powered? We had battery operated extrication tools in 2014 in 24 STS. But I didn't know about that far back.
Lutrell admitted he never fired a shot, all magazines were full, and put his fingers in his ears as mike murphy screamed for his help. All on camera from his own mouth.
Watching from Canada... Great conversation, really enjoyed it, thanks! 👍 The three hours went by too fast. Could have watched and listened to another three hours, lol.
Well no shit. He has already admitted to fabricating his story for the book he has because it was already written before he got out of the military buy another person that wrote the book so they talked to him Intu just going with it and so that's what he did.
I’m medically retired airborne and I was in AZ taking care of my moms after my last deployment n injury that ended my run . My buddy from the gym were at a bar comes up and says this dude is a army ranger oh no kidding and meet the guy yea he wasn’t a ranger I worked with them there pro athletes and this dude wasn’t younger than me . I didn’t say anything I’m not a ranger not my place but said to my buddy he’s not real to soft
On the humor point, Mel Brooks was a VMI grad who served in WW2 as a forward observer and a combat engineer. He’s movies are undeniably the best cinematic comedy out of Hollywood. Stop thinking you all prove in. World apart and just be funny.
Why do u guys not segment ur pieces? Is it coz u want people to watch it all in in one sitting or even the stuff that doesnt really interest them. Not tryna come off rude but i think its super intimidating to have a 3.5 hour video without splitting it up into titles that allow the viewer to feel like its more of a selection of multiple clips reasonable length. Everyone else does it and it doesnt hurt them. Come in guys! Please! For me!(Pupp eyes) Just try it see what happens.
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Good podcast. But like everything else some of these stories are exaggerated. Him going off at an E8 when he was clearing… ok yeah right 😂 talking crazy to his superiors just because you was ETSing… ok yeah right. 😂😂
Dude your lighting is way off. I work as a commercial photographer. I charge for consulting on this stuff. I dont care about that. I just want you guys to have good lighting. Please let me help you!
I'm a little surprised that Dave didn't react to the comment that the rangers' job was to kill people. Did I hear that right? Maybe I'm naive, but I've always thought rangers were about taking an objective, ya know, an assault force.
I wouldn't say "naive" would be the correct term, I would say the correct term would be "ignorant". You said that, "you have always thought Rangers were about taking an objective, ya know an assault force". How do you think Army Rangers take objectives? 99.99% of their objectives require killing to complete. What do you think "assault forces" do? They don't go around literally assaulting people (i.e. punching people in the face, physically assaulting them). The term, 'Assault Force', is just a diplomatic/politically correct way to say a hit squad.
They're not a police force. Rangers are meant to quickly open the way for the main force, either by taking and airfield, or breaching an opening through a fortified defense. Think Saving Private Ryan. The Rangers created a foothold in a heavily fortified beach landing area, by using determined, trained, and equipped soldiers.
In counter insurgency? Eg dealing with local women in culturally sensitive interactions?? Sure In a pure firefight? Absolutely not. Having a 14 or 15 year old teen boy fighting would be more tactically sound 😂😂
yall deserve way more likes then 398 that's crazy what yall are doing is so important GOD BLESS yall and the men/women in the field !!!!!
It was a privilege to watch this episode. There are no words to express my gratitude for this episode. THANK YOU

I've really liked all of these different perspectives on the Red Wings recovery. This whole episode is excellent.

Tom Satterly talks about being on that wedding hit on the SRS at 56:45
Thought it sounded familiar.

Thank you for telling us about the documentary. I just purchased it from Amazon Prime. Thank you for your service.
This guy has a seen a lot. This was a great episode. David has some fascinating stories.
I met Dave at an event in SC. Great dude!
US vs. Middle East was like Chuck Norris vs. Mcgyver
I'm grateful for him that he found a wonderful spouse who has patience and understanding for him. It does take a certain kind of woman!
Great interview!
Hi Jack, Dave, love the show. It would be great if you had some British Falklands War vets on
Southie Rocks.
C 1-3 was my squad, 95-98 before I went to snipers!
Thank you for your service brother

Is that a picture of Mister Rogers in Tigers behind Jack?!

LUTTRELL LIED 🤥
Probably but that has nothing to do with what David here did. And it’s not a podcast/episode about Marcus.
Yeah, we all saw that on the internet. Get over it.
An uneducated hillbilly & conspiracy theorist like Marcus?!?! No way, you don't say?! 😂😂😂
D.O.J WANTS TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION

Airports were the main missions when formed
They do bad things to bad people.

Rangers primarily did kill/capture missions in GWOT.
Women definitely can have a purpose on the battlefield they actually can be a major advantage
