    Dude, give me the handheld all day. Your shots were so much smoother. Their rig was so bouncy it didn’t matter that their rig could focus and pan more accurately. Keeping it smooth is much less distracting.

    • @CalebBoender

      Their rig bounces like 3 feet up and down

    • @ReadySetGoPictures
      @ReadySetGoPictures 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Part of this is because the black arm did not look propel stabilized. Also, the post production side of it. Sony lenses have IS, red does not. Also, it doesn’t look like he even graded the red footage. Seems like the car was half built and the footage wasn’t adjusted in post.

    • @BloomfieldProductions
      @BloomfieldProductions 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReadySetGoPictures you keep defending kala lol it was balanced and I shoot with a bmpcc4k on a crane 3s no stabilization and it looks just like weebil THERES no excuses lol

    • @ReadySetGoPictures
      @ReadySetGoPictures 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BloomfieldProductions congrats. Ive been a gimbal tech on blackarms, ronin 2, xl, movi and shotovers and can very much tell when the system isn't balanced. In the same way you could tell your crane 3 is off balance. So yes, there is an excuse - the fact that their system was off. So yea, the weebill looked smoother, but it wasn't because the weebill is a more capable platform lol.

    Those shots off the KALA rig have that big-budget feeling of groundedness, which adds TREMEMDOUSLY to the sense of speed and motion. There's some vibration & judder, but controlled, and it makes everything feel bigger and more excited. Super difficult to get that from a handheld system. Maybe in post?

    A pro photographer made a great comment recently about these smaller portable gimbals, such as the Weebill s or 2: You can take any one of these gimbals, the Ronin, Zhuyn, etc. and they will all be similar. In order to run a fair test compared to the Hollywood gimbal you would need to shoot several of the consumer-level gimbals, not just the Weebill. But regardless, this test demonstrates how equipment has become so accessible to low budget filmmakers who can make a beautiful film with a Sony APSC camera, a mini 2 drone, and a weebill 2 gimbal, along with Sigma/Sony lenses, for under $3500, (no need to rent) and own the equipment forever. Especially even on big TV screens, this equipment will result in a highly competitive visual look. Important, of course, to have good audio---but again, that can be done inexpensively. As well, use the Mac's video editing package.

    I work at a local TV station and have shot several running footage spots with our storm chasing vehicles using a similar setup. Ronin S and a GH5, full manual focus. We did use a Chevy Colorado that I rigged up a safety harness for in the bed so we were able to get a lot more movement range than what you had in the jeep. The only complication we encountered was that at one point my driver jammed on the breaks too hard and slammed me into the tailgate cracking two of my ribs, since then we've added a suit of motocross body armor to the kit for this sort of thing. My one frustration is with the results is we did use a drone for one of the wide hero shots so now everyone assumes I shot the whole thing on the drone and asks me how I was able to fly the drone two inches off the other cars bumper >_

    at 6:55 if it kept focus (which was really hard because its auto and the fact its a one man shot) I like it better! its crazy what Zhiyun has done

    The first shot, i think you should crossed the car like KALA to match the framing, it really made the difference!
    Nonetheless, the gimbal shot is really good i think

    To be honest I like your framing much better for the first two tests. The footage from the RED is clearly better but dollar per dollar I would hire you
