Yea bent stuff the wrong way, sawed it the wrong end, twisted it the wrong way, hit too hard, hit it too soft, set fire to it, shorted it out, dropped it, had a leak. Situation normal😀😀😀😀

I have tried to come up with a plan to make retainer channels for weatherstrips for a loooong time. I'm currently restoring and doing a video series of a tractor cab and the crusty leftovers of the retainer channels has been used to spice up my dinners lately. Nothing beats rust-pepper hehe
I have searched the entire internet 200 times for a solution to make those channels and......nothing. BUT I think I have been too focused on finding an easy method. My metal brake is a cheap one and almost impossible to use so I discarded that idea.
I abandoned the retainer-channel fabrication but then.....TH-cam told me I REALLY had to watch this this video.
Now I have found the right inspiration to make these and I'll be sure to give you credit for it and also I will surely subscribe to your channel.
Thank you so much for this good tip and I hope your arm will heal and become good as new. Have a great day :)

Trev, hi from USA, same here, life is not what it used to be. Anyway, I completed my first major body repair, a full rocker rebuild including new inner flange, mid flange to existing but rotted off "ribs", and a patch panel outer rocker. I was using a bead roller to bend over the 18 gauge metal, but only got about 30 degree bend and bent the rest with angle iron. I liked using the bead roller but too bad it was limited. Thanks for the idea of using an air chisel. My shoulders have been aching from all the abuse they get. You are like a friend I've never met in real life because your amazing good nature comes over in your videos and your talent is amazing. So you had a little bit of rust on a sill and that was enough to fail the MOT test? I've heard that MOT tests over there are really strict. Over here in the US the majority of states don't require ANY annual auto safety inspections, believe it or not!

I use my aircraft air rivet hammer to do the same as the anvils are nice and smooth already. It's Ok I use one that's already beat up... It's basically the same tool but it's allot easier to tease the trigger for better control. Works great on door skins too. As for the box brake I look at it every time I'm at one of our tool stores and can't justify buying one or the large amount of space it takes up. I still kick myself for not buying a 48" box brake for $100 locally that was new but out of the box...

@@trevsblog Yeah it was bad timing on that deal. They run around $800 ish for a 48" and $380 for a 24". The store here had the 48 on clearance 2 years ago for $350 and I still passed it up. They were freeing up inventory space but at that time it was $500 new. Grr inflation... I'd bring one over and save you a few $ but I think it might be a hare heavy to bring as checked luggage..

Great tip, remember lots of us haven't a clue!!
Crisp line, I have similar air chisel used for bearings ect, real world I find not amazing, however if I would replace would be something else, I lend a Chicago pneumatics (CP logo'd no affiliation!) Way less vibration and so much more power without noticing, knocks seized bearings with ease 😏😁

That's a great use for an air hammer. I'm a mechanic, so I have a few air hammers and those flat bits as well. Tennis elbow, Ugh! I had minor tears in my elbow tendos from repeatative mechanic work. I had therapy sessions to repair it and avoid surgery. What worked for me were theraputty, resistence bands, hand twist exercise bars, and Granston tools. The Graston tool especially, because it massaged the area with a scraping technique which also broke the internal scar tissue allowing it to heal. I used stationary exercise bike with my arms to warm the muscles (10 min.) Then did various exercises. Each session ended with a 10 minute ice pack, or graston tool scraping.

Would work well if you needed to do a fold longer than a folder if you had six foot of angle and a load of clamps.
Lovely that you end with thoughts for everyone out there.

    • @trevsblog
      @trevsblog  ปีที่แล้ว

Yes precisely, you can make a fold any length you like and what’s more that fold doesn’t have to be in a straight line, it could have cutouts and curves etc. extremely versatile. Thanks Trev 👍

Air Hammers are a great tool for planishing compound curves in a mold to get a part that would be impossible to create any other way. Commonly used to create aircraft skin components. A simple 90 degree bend can be accomplished with a hammer. Yeah, I like dragging out tools I really use only for the sake of putting oil through the tool.

Trev, have a look around for an Aircraft Rivet Gun, Far more control then the Sealey chisel.
They are rated in sizes from 2X to 6X, for what you are doing a 3 or 4x would be fine.
I use a 4x for hammer form work, with steel.

Thanks for the instructional video. I have a project that will come in handy for.
As for your tennis and golfers elbow I was wondering if you have ever heard of using DMSO? It's a liniment used mostly on farm animals and pets. I think most of us are some form of animal or another. I've used it on several occasions over the years with great success of pain relief for the treatment of tendonitis and sprains. I learned about it through a veterinarian girlfriend. I've recommended it to friends over the years and they've had great success also. Do your own thorough research.
Thanks again for the videos they're greatly appreciated.

I suffered from golfers and tennis elbow along with carpal tunnel issues. I used a Powerball and after a week the symptoms started improving to the point that now I generally don't have any problems - if I do, a few days of Powerball sort it. If you get one don't go for maximum speed. 10 seconds one rotation and the 10 seconds the other way, then swap hands several times, twice a day.
