my childhood....god i wish i could go back to the exact moment i watched this for the first time and relive the feeling of getting so hyped up and going out to skate with my friends at the street spots before hitting the skatepark. the early 2000's were another time man.

That trick gets so much hate, it's ridiculous. Still one of the most stylish tricks out there

Glad you said this. I am a casual fan of skating, not able to do it so my understanding of tricks is limited. I like skaters who do cool shit that looks good. Jamie Thomas has been my favorite since I learned about him in 1999 with the video game. I always remembered this Benihanna spot for decades and never saw anyone else do it. Didn't know it was a controversial move either. It looks incredible and the height of that stairset is wild.

I can listen to Baba O'Reilly on the radio and see this entire part exactly how it is in my head. Videos like these I probably watched close to 500 times by now.

I never noticed the kids in the background at 0:26. Clearly, he's skating a fat handrail at a school in the late 90s, and all the school kids are sitting on the ledge, watching him, stoked as fuck when he lands it. So epic, such a moment in time. Makes me miss the 90s and my youth so much. Those were the days...

I just commented that when Daxter Lussier would come visit Idaho Falls (our home town) that I would get to tag along because my older friend Sheldon was Dax's friend as well.
One time Dax' was showing Sheldon some footage and what I saw were these raw clips of Jamie at The San Digieto 10 wearing that Bears jersey...then a year later I saw that footage in Misled Youth and it was only then in hindsight I realized what footage I was looking at!

THE SINNERS PRAYER DOES NOT WORK. THE PRAYER THAT MANY PASTORS TELL YOU TO REPEAT IS A FALSE GOSPEL AND WILL NOT SAVE YOU. READ THE VERSES BELOW ⬇️
But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”-that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”
      Romans 10:8-13 NASB1995
They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
      Acts 16:31 NASB
Believers Are Dead to Sin, Alive to God
1What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? 2May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? 3Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7for he who has died is freed from sin.
      Romans 6:1-7 NASB1995
Now what’s stopping you from reading the Bible and learning who God is???????

Jamie Thomas really knew how to put together a good video part. Specially when you look at Welcome To Hell,Misled Youth,Dying To Live and even his later stuff like Ride The Sky etc. Who else had more epic parts ? I can't remember who else had that many long video parts with epic tricks and such strong songs. The guy killed it for a very long time.

No kidding! My parents didn't pay for any of my skate gear, so the 2 or 3 skate videos I accumulated from saving money, I cherished, and I had to make my boards LAST. Now that I'm an adult making money, I can afford to get bearings, wheels, decks etc, yell at a kid to do a kickflip and help them out.

I grew up in Idaho Falls and when Daxter Lussier would come back to town to visit ( there he is @5:00 chillin' on Jorge Cervantes's car) I would get to tag along as a 13 year old.
Dax and my buddy Sheldon were watching some of Dax's footage he had and I took a sneak peek.
It was Jamie wearing a Chicago Bears jersey skating The San Digueto 10 stair...then some time later when Misled Youth came out I saw those clips.
Only in hindsight I realized that I had seen the actual raw footage of this video before it blew the worlds top off🔥

Watching this even all these years later, it still gives me chills, this man is an absolute legend, this is one of my favorite parts of all time, the level of skating at this time was not this high, you didn’t have many other skating rails like this at this time, with the exception of Muska, but Jamie was really going in on some legendary spots, I remember his backflip on Hollywood 16, that blew me away when I see it, this man was clearly on a mission, he changed skating for the better in my opinion, he defied what people thought was possible back in those times, to have a whole part full of big ass handrails in this time was not really happening, big ups to a Jamie for putting his blood sweat and tears into every video and making me a lifelong fan,he will always be the CHIEF

I remember watching this in a skate shop getting my first board put together. I was so blown away by Jaimie Thomas’s part, I made sure to come back and get the tape next time I had cash in my hand.. was just a kid then and all these years later it still hypes me up to go skate. I’ll be showing my kids this one day

I was there when he did the 180 nose grind at San Dieguito. We saw Jamie Thomas skating this gap in Carlsbad and he asked if we wanted to go skate this rail. So stoked back in the day being a grom and having Thomas ask us to go to a spot with him.

I love it in Zero videos when someone takes a heavy slam on a rail, then at the end you see them rolling up to the same rail in slow motion. It's like revenge.

That's like most skate videos, at least from that era. I can't speak on videos from like 2005 to now because I'm an old curmudgeon.

I skated in the late 80s through the 90s. I'm in my 40sand have had 1 knee replacement along with several surgeries. Alot of damage was caused trying to emulate JT and the leap of faith as well as anything we saw in the misled youth/welcome to hell videos.

I didn't really care for Jamie Thomas when he appeared in the documentary on Chris Cole, (Motivation 2) so i've only just got around to watching this part but omfg - this is unreal. This seriously holds up, i've watched it everyday for a week now, and i've not done that with a video part before. Big respect Jamie Thomas! I'm going to re-evaluate my opinion of you, and watch your 9 club episode. Big up.
