    micro SD Card adapters do not have any parts that affect speeds in any way shape or form. They simply bridge the metal contacts of the microsd card to a larger form factor

    I disagree about the long term use of sd cards. I got micro sd cards from 2009 that still work with files on them lol

    Used 2 12 euro 128GB aliexpress "Samsung" micro SD cards with adapters first in my X-H1 and X-T4 later.
    After 3 years i had no problems with them, even 400mbps video works. Use them in backup mode for peace of mind, would never trust a single card (even very expensive ones).
    For me its better to use 2 cheap cards in backup mode than 1 expensive. If someone can spend on 2 expensive cards then go for it i see no advantage.

    My Samsung Evo 32gb Micro SD died on me after just 3 years of normal usage...thousands of mp3's & pics went bye bye. 😫 Thank goodness for Google photos & drive. 😁

    It should be included and is self evident that touching the gold plated edge connectors should be avoided. Because from time to time this is unavoidable a light cleaning with contact leaner would be in order. Static electricity can kill silicon based electrical components and should be avoided. Pay attention to your foot wear and the surface that you are walking on and ground yourself before extracting your sd card from the camera or inserting it into the device reader. Skin oils over time will rot even gold and high voltage static electricity frys transistors.

    Hey man, for the card reader section, you think it would be fine if I put an SD card in an adapter for a MAC (USB ports, SD card reader, HDMI etc.) ?

    What I want to do is just placing this deed card in watch my movie but when I'm done watching my movie I pull the SD card out And the movie is still on that SD card nothing else not on my camera not on my smart phone or nothing just on that SD card Is that what I'm technically doing or do I have to transfer files and stuff Because I'm looking for something that can be watched we watched and put back in the case Like an old VHS recorder where people would record their movies on VHS And then have them stored something like that

    What makes an SSD card "old?" How old is "old" for an SD card, and what evidence is it that the calendar alone has any deleterious affect on their performance?

    U might cover this but what happens if I use a larger capacity card than the slot I'd rated for. Like my note 9 card slot capacity is 512gb but I have a 1tb card I wanna use.

    My sd card is broken, I have the lower part of it, the grid part that connects with a sd slot on your computer. Question is there a memory card slot you can insert that piece in? That you can purchase online?

    problem is Macbook do not have SD card slots so I always use my SD card reader and i got a portable card reader to connect to my Mac but not sure if the read speed matches with the card. Is there any way to know? This is probably why my SD cards are always saying cannot be read or not accessible.

    • @DieterVanHolder
      @DieterVanHolder  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure as there are many variables. I got myself an m1 laptop with a card reader slot specifically for this reason. The whole dongle upsale thing is infuriating.

      For Samsung branded SSDs, the datasheet states that the OP (over processes) value should be used at 7% for the memory chip to work longer. It is stated that more than 15% will not contribute. This is to prevent malfunction. By replacing memory cells with high write-erase cycles with memory cells with lower usage cycles, each memory cell is written to equally. As long as the SSD data is not more than 93%, the OP setting will be considered as 7% and the memory chip will still do its job. As far as I know, except for Endurance SD cards, other SD cards do not have an advanced memory management chip like SSDs. The disadvantage of using a smaller micro SD card instead of a larger SD card is that since micro SD cards cannot provide heat dissipation like an SD card, they will run at higher temperatures, causing the memory chips to wear out sooner.
      A small note= V30 card (30mb(megabyte) x 8bit) allows video recording up to 240mbit. I use my cards at 7% OP setting. 1 raw photo from my Sony A7rV camera is between 122-128mb. Despite my heavy use of my 128GB SD cards, my cards have not failed. Since my camera supports two memory cards, I always work with a backup.
