the best explanation of memory cards on the web.
Thanks for the information! You are rocking the Blonde!
Super helpful for a beginner!
That was the best explanation about memory cards that I have ever heard. Thank you so much.
Card speed is really only an issue if recording video or taking action shots with continuous bursts. When shooting food, portraits or landscapes pretty much any old SD card will do as long as it has the space the photographer needs for the file sizes their camera records. Nice to see someone do a video on card speeds though, love your videos, very informative. Also love the new blonde hair, it suits you. :)
How did you know? Just what I am looking for today. Thanks, Joanie 😀 And your hair is fabulous!!
Ha ha! Amazing!!
great video thank you
OMG! Your hair is 💥🔥💥 Your content is always incredibly helpful!!!
Thank you Joanie, for demystifying what all those numbers and letters mean. I do feel more powerful and confident; I just checked my cards and noted that the staff at Adorama did a great job of guiding me when I purchased them. Love your new look, as always, very inspiring!❤👏🏽
Great information, just what I was looking for.
Whoa! Honestly I was away for a couple of months and wasn't able to check your channel.
Had to double check if im in the right one, after seeing your new haiiirrrrr. Haha! Looookkksssssss Gooooddd!
Joanie, great video. There are lots of gear videos on youtube but not that many dedicated to memory cards. It seems like no one ever discussed read/write speed until the Sony A1 and Nikon Z9 came out with their massive file sizes and and incredible frame rates. One thing I might mention is that there are two types of CF Express cards - Type A and Type B. Like SD cards the difference between these involve storage size and read/write speed. Regardless, this was great information. I will recommend it to my friends who are either new to photography or trying to up their game.
o my i'm just seeing your hair. love it! great video
excellent as always, Joanie!!!
Thank you 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
So grateful for this info, thank you! ✨️
You're so welcome!

I thought I was in the wrong channel. The new hair caught me off guard. 😂 Love it though!!!
Ha ha ha!!! I totally goobered up my branding with this change 😜
Wow! Hi Joanie, you are rocking the short, blond hair, it looks great on you. Of course I am partial to short blond hair, your hair is similar to mine. LOL ☺👱 It is fun to play around with hair styles and colors. Oh, and great info on the memory cards too. 👍
Thank you so much!
Joanie, as always, your content is 100% on point. Another great video that will be very helpful to EVERYONE. Thank you for all you do!
Thank you so much!

My pleasure! Hope you're well Adri!
How to show what on the 64gb SD memory card?
You look so cute Joanie!! Thanks so much for the great info!
Hope you're doing well! Always makes me smile when your name pops up!
One major advantage of shooting stills with ten+ year old cameras is that just about any SD or CF card one can readily buy will work just fine, so you can buy slower ones at a lower price. But do check your specs to be sure.
What happened to U2? Last I heard, it still hasn't found what it's looking for.
hahaha!! love it :)
Well, I had no idea memory cards were so specific. I'm off to check my cards against what my camera uses, and delete content on the cards (which have been backed up). You have saved me many $$ cos I just keep buying new cards in the believe I need to store my photos on them! Also just LOVING the new hair colour Joanie!
So happy to help!!! Hooray!
Wait UHS The roman numeral 1 max is 104Mb/so how was that card’s maximum burst speed 170Mb/s
"u2" U are funny 🤣
Beginner question. For transferring your images from camera to computer or iPad, is using Bluetooth or WiFii just as good as using a card reader connected to your computer?
I watched this over 2 days so It might have been mentioned earlier, and I forgot about it... But i don't remember hearing about the difference between CF Express type A & B. My Canon R5 uses B and Sonys I believe use CF Express A (which also work with the QHD slots I believe). And At this time, the CF-A's are considerably more expensive than the B's.
Ah yep, the two types are different in terms of write speed so best to match with the one your device requires.
The cards are a business model for selling memory cells in chips. The price depends on several factors - see my comment under the video - but in the case of Sony, also is a way of moving out of a more competitive market and being able to earn more money from the buyers.
Type A is smaller, generally considerably slower, and more expensive per GB storage. Because the cards are slower, they likely heat up less, being throttled by their top speed.
thank you, very helpful! Can you do another on external hard drives? Mine keep crashing!
Oh dear! What brand have you been purchasing? I've had the best experience with Western Digital products.
@@TheBiteShot lacie ;/ idk why, its after about a year of use the connection or something faulters, nit sure whats happening!
