All cars are lovely and I'm a fan of the GT-R but that AMG seems to be family-oriented. It has four doors, can seat 2 or 3 more people and has a proper trunk. I'm attracted to such kinds of cars.

I dont know cars, I know stock. If this car was a stock, it could be called an ipo stock that is undervalued. Which means the cheapest time for purchase can be at the beginning. In other words, the C8 may not get cheaper for a long, long time. This happens. I can go like this: company sells car undervalue to penetrate market and loses money it intends to reclaim later. After a while, the company chokes supply of non-premium trims and the premium trims are a LOT more expensive. Buyers therefore flock the non-premium trims in the 2nd hand market, and the vendors realize: "buyers have the choice betw this non-premium 2nd hand car at 60k, and a premium model at $160k. So why should I drop my price? If you want a C8 then pay 80k or find $160k."
Early adopters of the C8 are rewarded with increases in value. Late adopters have to really, really want a C8, and will have to pay. This will also stimulate a healthy aftermarket--which the co will also try to profit from--because ppl will try to avoid premium prices by purchasing a non-premium C8 and modding it.
I am assuming and speculating a lot. My aim is to paint a picture.

The C8 has a tiny interior with tight bucket seats. I can guarantee nobody over the age of 50 buys this car in fear of getting stuck, and throwing out their back trying to get out. Also, this car's not depreciating for a while, they're already selling $40k over market value on average.

Just for reference, in the US the base msrp for each of these cars are thus:
C8 Corvette: $59,995
Nissan GT-R: $113,540
MB AMG GT 63 S: $161,200
The races were pretty close regardless, especially between the C8 and GT-R, but context is important. The GT-R costs MORE than TWICE as much money as the Corvette, while the AMG costs not quite but almost THREE TIMES as much money as the Corvette. And of course both have significantly more power than the Corvette too. Personally I would have liked to see some lap times.

@Ben Arbo Huh? The c8 zr1 is going the have a 5.5l v8 with 700 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque and have a 0-60 of 2.5 seconds.

Its not a surprise. Its always been a solid platform. Awd v6 TT dual clutch. Those things always make for a fast car no matter what.
Yeah, but it cost twice as much as a C8 Vette, and it can barely beat it in a straight line. Nissan better do something because every year the GTR moves down a few notches in performance compared to other cars. The C8 Z06 (which will be coming out as a 2022 model) will be faster than a GTR in a straight line and destroy it around a road course. So I'd save my money for the upcoming Z06 before purchasing a GTR.

@@BLACK05GO1 As much as i'd hate to admit it being a 'stang fanboy, the new corvette is ridiculously powerful in pretty much every aspect and it's not even the top model. I guess it's just me, but I would really love to see Nissan make the GTR slightly lighter and give it a V8, that should make the competition a bit more exciting with the upcoming vette.
@NSX 55 I've always loved the Nissan sport lineup and this GTR happens to be the most powerful of them all. I'd say this car has great potential and Nissan must upgrade it a lot in order for it to compete with some of the modern cars.

The fact that a TRACK car is able to perform like that in a DRAG race is impressive
There is no track car here. Two are high end sportscars and one is a high end luxury four door sporty car. Only thing kind of similar between these three is the power to weight ratio which made for a decent race.

I agree~ It may not win against most cars in this day and age, but the fact that it can still keep up is still amazing to me :) I mean it has an older 6-speed dual clutch, but that mixed in with its AWD system is still a marvel of engineering even to this day.
The GTR is already a perfect car on its own. That's why it still relevant till today
And unfortunately relevant is good enough for Nissan these days. Imagine if Nissan didn’t rest on its laurels and engineering from 10 years ago.
Paul Fiebig thats how I feel about Honda... original NSX, masterpiece, but by the early 2000s it was overpriced and outdated as it was basically the same car with very minor updates. Same with the s2000. I guess at least with the CTR they keep updating it, too bad it’s FWD.

It's a NA RWD car, how is that the latest technology? It was obviously made with a specific customer in mind that values both of those things, while still putting up some decent performance numbers and being relatively inexpensive.

@@dylanfarris7647 Yeah this Corvette has an insane 60K starting MSRP. Not sure this one will depreciate as most American muscle cars do, but even if it doesn't that's still one hell of a deal.
On the other hand, 60K hardly gets you a low mileage 1-3 year GTR. But that's going to be true of most cars that compete with the Corvette, to be fair.
The C8 is not an especially technologically-focused car and never has been. It always was a bargain and this one costs 50k less than the GTR. Thanks for your idiotic joke..

Look at the AMG though, a luxurious coupe you could daily, there’s something about German cars that do it for me and I think it’s the great balance of luxury and performance. But I must admit, if you want a car for the weekend that’s extremely focused I would hands down pick the Corvette or GTR, they have the full race car appeal.
For smiles and fun, I'd take vette any day.

Exactly! Most of the guys are just Skyline GTR fans, nothing wrong about that, but if a sedan is performing very close to it, they'd turn their eyes away! I was also impressed with the way it sounded.. For me, I would choose the Corvette any day! It looks sick, and will always look BAD forever! The other ones will just look old..

You are a naive clown, buddy! No way, that an old and "stock" Nissan GT-R is that quicker than a brand new AMG GT 63 S! Forget about the shitty reasons, these guys talk in this video. "Weight penalty" in the AMG isn't the problem here, because the fugly old Nissan GT-R is also a quite heavy car.
The AMG GT 63 S needs 2.8 seconds from 0-60 mph, it has the much better launch control system and it has much more power!
How is it possible, that such an allegedly "stock" Nissan GT-R is that quicker...??? This "drag race" is fucking scripted bullshit, but nothing more!
Here in Germany, the AMG GT63 S has literally destroyed cars like this old and fugly Nissan GTR in drag races.
How is it possible, that in North America, the AMG GT 63 S looks like it doesn't come from the start line??? This is ridiculous!!
There could be some reasons for this fucking scripted shitty "result" in this video:
1. He didn't start this AMG GT63S in race mode with launch control.
2. He filled this AMG GT63S with really bad American fuel (because here in Germany we don't have such shitty bad fuel with low octane numbers, which you have in the USA or Canada).
3. He started so fucking awfully with the AMG on purpose, because the whole video was just scripted bullshit.
4. The Nissan GT-R has a massively tuned engine. Because it's fucking impossible, that a stock Nissan GT-R with a stock engine which has less power plus a less efficient launch control system, is so much quicker in a drag race!

So many years later, so many cars later, and GTR is still a KING!
Yeah the GTR is a engineering masterpiece, but you gotta admit that corvette is doing damn well for being down on power compared to those two cars. This is where a salty American would say “just wait till the Z06 and ZR1 comes out” but I think this “base” model Corvette did really damn well.
The gtr has been a king, but the Corvette’s time to shine is coming.
Can’t wait to see more competition between manufacturers so they produce better cars for us.
