    Man imagine if Shinada didnt stop and knock some sense into Baba. What would Baba have done? I feel as though he might've just went to some place where he can be alone before finally killing himself, believing that to be a better alternative than what Kurosawa and his men might've done to him for not going through with the plan to shoot Haruka. In the end he would've just cemented himself as a coward who couldn't bring himself to do anything. This is why Saejima sent Shinada after Baba to save him. Not from Kurosawa or anyone else, but from himself. This fight taught Baba about responsibility.

    Okay, but let's take the time to appreciate that Shinada is basically using a baseball analogy to drive home his point.
    The "camera" he's referring to is the tripod that was left behind, which I presume was supposed to hold up the rifle. Baseball cameras are usually set up to capture the players, but later advancements allowed them to capture home runs.
    The "score sign stealing" and "behind the scenes" stuff is the fact that he was even there to shoot Haruka, or 'steal Haruka's score", so to speak. He also left behind signs that would point to him as being the would-be shooter.
    Shinada chides him for not taking his job seriously -- in other words, what other people have said at this point. Responsibility. If you don't own up to the shit you do, it's going to haunt you for the rest of your life. Just as it's the behind the scenes people's responsibility to ensure that a proper experience of a ball game is given to its home-viewing audience, Baba has to own up to the responsibility of what he was doing, whether he actually did so or not.
    Which is why Shinada decided he was gonna take the guy down himself if he has to.

    • @user-fn6mh4op7m
      @user-fn6mh4op7m 6 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      The "behind the scenes" stuff Shinada is talking about is actually a little different from providing a good view for the audience. 'Scorers' in this context refers to people who observe the pitcher's "signs" from afar and relay the information to the batter's team's director, coaches, etc. to provide tactical advantage. That's what "stealing the sign" means.
      Essentially, Baba's been doing dirty work behind the scenes in the yakuza world, kinda like the scorers in the pro baseball scene.

    • @cristianeric5933
      @cristianeric5933 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wasn't the camera actually a camera used to monitor Baba and Haruka. It was shown before Saejima fought Majima that there is live footage of Haruka performing. Like, to show Haruka performing and Baba doing the job of shooting her in case Majima fails to stop Saejima?

    • @Thentavius

      @@cristianeric5933 Yeah. 9 months late, but that checks out -- it's a dicey thing, having that sort of murder be presented to pretty much *everyone* watching the broadcast.
      Baba wouldn't be able to live with himself. And considering the gun stigma in Japan, I wouldn't be surprised if people tracked him down with extreme prejudice just to hand him his sentence, how long it takes be damned.

    • @Harakengard
      @Harakengard 6 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      He may had little to do with the main story, but i prefered Shinada's story and character over Tanimura's ones: his story actually takes more its time, the character is more reliatable while still being interesting, his boss fights are more memorables (although i still take Tanimura gameplay wise as well), and he's better voiced. Maybe this has also to do with the fact that i didn't really like Yakuza 4's main story.

    • @yedo8516
      @yedo8516 6 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      I'd have to agree on both of your points. I actually enjoyed playing as Shinada more than Tanimura in the contexts of story and gameplay. And this is coming from a guy who actually loved playing as Tanimura alot in Yakuza 4.
      As far as gameplay goes...Tanimura is definitely the more clean and stylish fighter. But as much as I enjoyed his fighting style, I always felt it was incomplete overall. There just weren't many options. His main attack string was slow and sluggish even after boosting the speed of his attacks, and there weren't many ways you could fight. And his unique blocking animation was neat, but didn't offer much in the way of options--and was also too easy to do. Just gave you an opportunity to get behind the opponent to either start your attack string or use a heat move. His only unique trait was the hitbox on his hard attack. That kick could hit an enemy/boss off the ground 3 times in a row. Looks super dumb in practice tho. Overall, I felt that Tanimura's style lacked the depth that Kiryu, Akiyama, and Saejima's styles had. And overall, these limitations made his boss fights much more harder to deal with, as a number of his best qualities don't work well against bosses.
      Shinada on the other hand comes off as a sloppy but creative brawler. His strikes lack the grace of Tanimura's, but Shinada nonetheless makes use of a number of aspects of Tanimura's gameplay. His attack strings can conclude with grab finishers--albeit non-heat move grab finishers. He has a unique heat move for downed opponents. He also has a variation of Tanimura's parry that requires tight execution and timing. And like Tanimura, he has a strong focus on weapons. However, the main difference with Shinada is that his abilities are fairly effective against bosses. And you can build his skill tree up to emphasize his abilities, which I found especially lacking in Tanimura's gameplay--such as increasing Shinada's grip strength. Overall, Shinada takes much of Tanimura's gameplay innovations, and executes these innovations much better in practice.
      As far as story goes, I feel that Shinada was alot more unique. Tanimura's story was cool, but the grifter and jaded cop unearthing corruption in his own force is a story we've seen before. His relationship with Chinese immigrants in Japan was a unique take, but hardly explored overall in the story. Shinada on the other hand? He's a freakin disgraced baseball player turned smutty adult magazine writer with a heart of gold. His relationship with his loan shark is also pretty awesome too. Overall he stands out among his cast. And having a story perspective taking place at the civilian level for once was a nice and welcome change. The only thing I found kind of unrealistic was his uncanny ability to fight. Contrary to what the Yakuza wiki erroneously claims, Shinada is obviously not a novice fighter. Early in the story it's quite clear that he can throw down with the toughest of opponents, like Daigo for instance. Not to mention, he's the only character in the game with a parry option. Nothing in his past suggests that he would be an amazing fighter. Yet he is.
      Overall I just find Shinada to be better at everything Tanimura does for the series. While Tanimura has a clean and flashy style, you never feel powerful playing as him, as much of his gameplay strengths are ineffective against bosses. Shinada, however, feels alot stronger. Much of what Tanimura brings to Yakuza gameplay wise is executed better in Shinada's hands overall.

    wait can someone tell me why are they taking baba back to prison??? he has been released through parole though! why are they taking him back??? is that because he try to kill kitakata? but kitakata didn't die did he? he was at the final scene. and he refused to kill haruka.
    the same for saejima. why are they sending taiga back to prison?

      Baba has probobly killed and done a lot worse behind the scenes, i mean he was a hitman. Him wanting to go back just means he wants to finish his time to take responsibility for his sins. Saejima went back to also finish up his time so that the cops dont bring him in a third time lol

    I feel the writers didn't put as much effort into Shinada's story. It was alright but it seemed a bit lackluster.
    I mean......he shows up for a final boss fight.....but he doesn't even know the final boss. AND the boss is uninterested in fighting.
    Still, I appreciated the phone call at the end.
