heyyyy lovelies, in today's video I am sharing some house updates with you all as well as tackling some DIY's. We will be finally staining the stair bannister after stripping fun fact I only just learned that the UK and USA spell bannister differently too lol. I will be using a wood conditioner and wood stain for the bannister. If you are staining pine wood, you need to condition it first and if you want to see how not to stain a bannister then please watch lol. I am using the stain from Village green in Gunstock. The name of the stain is gunstock.
I am then using my brand new pocket hole jig to make a piece of furniture for the hallway and this will be the new console table that will take the place of the old cream one.
Please note that whilst I am sharing DIY's in this video I do not know what I am doing so they are not tutorials. Also using a tumble dryer as a work bench is not the one. I just didn't want to use the ground. I will have my dream woodwork shed when we finally move.
If you would like to more about how to use a pocket hole jig then do search on You Tube. I do not do a very good job at explaining it.

Claire my husband loves listening to you on either channel. He says it can be stormy grey and yucky outside then your video comes on and your happy voice and personality brings out the sunshine and rainbows. Never change love.
ahhhh thank you so much xx makes me happy to hear that I make others happy :) xxx
I absolutely love your enthusiasm and ability to laugh at yourself. You always seem to overcome all obstacles which come your way. I love the fact that you were brave enough to take on these tasks as they all turned out really cool so far. Looking forward to the next one.❤
thank yooooo xx ohhh I definitely have to laugh - or I would never do anything else haaaaaaa
Claire, yeesssss we want to watch everything because it’s not just about all your achieving, it’s your commentary as well. It’s like watching a good film, I was sat here willing that stain to lighten then cheering as you sanded it back and you got the right result, then I’m laughing as you cut wood balancing on a tumble dryer and then back to excited for you as you got to use your jig and make a console. Honestly, the whole world should be prescribed a dose of Claire. Well done girl.👏xx
thank yooooo so much lovely xxx haaaa yes the tumble dryer - lol honestly I will have an actual workshop one day that gives me the space I need lol
I greatly enjoy watching your videos, a woman doing it for herself/by herself! Love it and you're a wonderful example for all.
thank you so much Kathryn xxxx
I absolutely love how enthusiastic you are about your accomplishments. You did a great job.
Thankyou so much Lorraine xx
Claire, you are like a breath of fresh air! You have such a joie de vivre, it makes me smile just listening to your excitable voice. ❤
ohh thank you so much xxxx
I was laughing hysterically, years ago, my husband and I, were renovating our laundry room, and used our old washing machine as a work bench…. My father in law, saw it and just shook his head and walked away… 🤣 Things are better now, for my husband’s 60th birthday, he built a huge workshop… I took over about a quarter of it for my stuff! We all win!! 😂 The pocket hole jig is amazing!! Total game changer!!! You did a great job!! Love the bannister! People pay really good money for custom farmhouse finishes!! 😂
haaaaaa Roy - love this lol glad it's not just me I actually do already have a workshop but I genuinely couldnt get in it haaaaaa its full up with the lawn mower and so much stuff - plus it is tiny and I just felt like I needed the air haaaaaaaa
Claire, I love the stain on your bannister rail. I much prefer the lighter look. That console table is a gem...handmade with love (and hilarity!), not perfection! Love the enthusiasm! Great job.
thank yooooo so much Pauline xxx
Wow, Ms Claire, love your enthusiasm and passion to build your dream home. Each episode by episode, watching you moving a step forward in direction of building your dream home decors is always amazing.Even if its still a bit wonky,it doesn't look like, but hey it's your handmade,a beautiful thing to be proud of,it's amazing 😍😍💜💜

I just love this channel ❤ !! I was laughing so hard & was so thrilled when you achieved your goals. Thank you Claire. See you next week
yayyy Debra thank yooo xxxx glad you had a laugh - this makes me happy :) xxxx
You did AWESOME!!!! Great work on that banister … turned out better than expected & the acorn/egg thingy (don’t know wood terminology that good either …LOL) is looking sharp. The console came out good too, even though that tumbler gave me the goosebumps when it began wobbling but it somewhat behave at the end 🤪. Was also happy to catch George going up the stairs like lightning …that really made my day. 🤣❤️🙏🏻🥰
thank you so much Jackie xxx yeh the tumble dryer was a dodgy way of doing it especially with the wobble xx
Claire, the shelf isn't "wonky" its "rustic!" 🤣Great job on everything. I am glad that you were able to sand the stair rail to a finish that you like. Finding stains is sooo hard, they never turn out like you want! ❤
thankyou so much Erin - Oh I agree - it is such a hard thing to get right for sure - I feel like a whole day of testing stains would be ideal haaa xx
You got so much done WOW! Everything looks fantastic ❣️💙🤩
thank you so much Kera xxx
I could tell you weren't loving the stain but nicely recovered 👍🏻👍🏻 I was thinking if all else fails at least you can paint it again 😁😁
ohhhh thanks Chris - yeh I fully hated it when I first put it on - and absolutely I was thinking this too - worst case scenario sand it off - paint lol
I am sending you High Fives girly!! Awesome job on the console, I love it and I love how excited you got when you accomplished it ♥️
thank yoooo so much lovely xxxx
I just love watching your videos! You are so inspirational ❤

I love you video! Great work!
thank yoooo so much lovely xxx
Great job!!❤❤❤
thank yoooo Barbara xxxx
You are incredible Claire.. The jobs you take on - you do so well considering many of them you are trying for the first time. Circular saws terrify me!! Good save with the stain too - could it have been because you used different brands with the stain and conditioner? Looks great anyway and love the brief cameo form gorgeous George. XX
Thank you so much Karen xxx yeh the saw is a beast - definitely not something to be distracted with xxx Yes it absolutely could have been that I used two different brands xx
Love this!
thank yoooo xxx
Love your vlogs u remind me of me you seem to laugh your way through life , 2 yrs ago drs gave me some news i stood up laughed said something really random he told me to sit bk down and asked if id been drinking 😂 been teetotal for 15 yrs 😂 i do question how ive got to 43 some days but i have to laugh less id never stop crying 😂 ill watch anything u put up x
Ohhhhh Claire - I hope you are doing okay after that news xxx but yes I am 100% a person who tries to laugh through life because if I start to cry - I will cry for weeks and it's bleak and I cannot afford that haaa lol So - I do my best to smile and laugh through as much as I can :)
Love it ❤
thank yooooooo xxxx
So THAT'S a pocket hole jig! How cool, Claire! 😍 I'm *so proud* of you for learning how to do this! 👍😊💕 LOVE your new "work table". 😅 Can't believe you only had to pay £1 for all that wood!
Girl, I could care less if you have a intro/outro! Unless it's George... 😅💕
ahhhh ha ha yessss this is the pocket hole jig - how amazing is it :) I am already addicted lol and I have finished the console table so happy with it xx yeh the wood was a total total bargain I really need to get back to the car boot sale and see if they still have some x
You make everything look fun. Nothing ever goes right for me on projects and I’m working on a huge one right now that I started months ago. I used a jackhammer to break up cement/concrete on a 12 foot hearth. What a mess. Overwhelmed. When you said you put the old radiator in the garden until you get a skip, what does Skip mean? I bought a pocket hole jig when we were in lockdown and have been afraid to use it. Lol.
i am going to copy the cutting technique exactly i have a old dryer and the same brand saw
ha ha ha ha ha toooo funny :) stay safe lol
i will i have no more fingers to cut off@@athomewithclaire
Rome wasn't built in a day and there's no fun in being an expert at the first try anyway 😊
ohhhh so so true Mizz xxx thanks lovely xxx
Can you salvage what you need from that cover for the kitchen radiator? 😮
heyyyy lovely -- not so much no -- every screw was blown out - taking chunks out of the wood. It is only chip board and not actual wood
Want to see all the update things ❤❤
yayyyy thank yoooo xxx
Again, I am so impressed with you getting all this work done! Good for you for going out of your comfort zone and learning something new. I love the banister; I think it looks great. It has been one thing after another for you guys with his house! Do you have another home you are going to purchase?
thank you so much Barb - definitely been a lot from the moment I decided to actually make changes lol the house said NO ! haaaaa We do not have a house to buy no - we have not yet listed or sold this house - right now hubby is working 3 days a week in the office - so a move is not possible equally - I am still manifesting and subliminally making the move haaaa
I love your excitement! I have a list of pieces I want to build. Your enthusiasm is contagious.
Is a boot sale the same as a garage/yard sale in the US?
heyyyyyy Erin - thank you so much xx It is similar but a car boot sale is basically a huge mammouth event that takes place on large fields and huge open spaces - so there will be hundreds of stalls set up selling everything from used clothes etc -- to tools and all sorts - you could spend easily 3 or 4 hours walking around a car boot sale :) xxxx
@@athomewithclaire Oh, that makes sense! It's like a flea market, lol. Sounds like a riot to attend.
@@erinhurlock5521 yes yes that is exactly what it's like :) xxxx we have flea markets here too
😅At 16:49, I see, I see .. the back of a man's head and hes wearing a hat!😂
😆😆
Please don’t ever change. I beg you to never become a professional v-logger, I like you just as you are.
Thankyou so much lovely xxx I promise I will always be like this haaaaa xxxx
you need a workmate they are brill
So enjoy you and your videos. I said it once, twice. You are awesome. You try hard and it shows .😉🫶🏻
thank you so so much lovely xxxx that means loads xx
