Theory idea: What is the ideal way to wear a backpack? Should it hang on your lower back or be snug and feel more like a turtle shell? Does the technique differ depending on how heavy the backpack is, or does it all depend on someone's personal ergonomics? And, maybe most importantly, is there a best way to reduce or prevent the back and shoulder pain that comes with wearing heavy backpacks? I've been thinking about this one for a while. As a robotics engineering student and artist who can almost ALWAYS be seen with a backpack, it would be great to know if I've royally messed up my back and shoulders or if there is still hope.
You want a backpack with comfortable shoulder padding, S-shaped shoulder straps are also ergonomic and help weight distribution. You can also get back-packs with sternum and hip straps that help with weight distribution. On top of this you want to make sure that the backpack is sat higher/middle of your back, distributed between your shoulders, lower back and pelvis. Hip strap is the game changer for heavier loads. The correct way to wear a backpack is by not putting your back and spine out.
I've never seen it as a meme but as a proper psychological advice. Going outside, absorbing sunlight (not through a window) and being mindful of your surroundings (senses) can immensly help against stress, anxiety and depression.
