This reminds me of a story I was told years ago. Down at my local renascence fair. Someone edited over a photo of one of the volunteers and posted it to FaceBook as their own costume. The volunteer had to send photos of her body and costume to the FBI to get the photos taken down. Seeing this kind of story pop up more is disturbing.

Brands now have a way to stand out as ethical by getting consent and signing deals with the creators instead of using AI to remove their likeness. Same problem crops up if you watch videos calling out preverted mobile game ads; you end up getting a ton of those as well. Since I watch a lot of callout videos I found that the personalized ad system on TH-cam is incapable anymore of recommending me stuff I would be interested in so I have been using ad blockers to try and remove those scams from what I watch.
We shouldn't be surprised, China doesn't have copyright laws like we do. And the memes about being made in china in a sweatshop is a meme for a reason - it really happens. I need this copyright problem talked about on Film Theory...we use clips from movies on our movie channel and it is definitely fair use, but we get hit with copyright claims...sometimes not from the actual studio.
