*Important note for those watching August 2021 and beyond (until next expansion)!*
Because of Vasty Deep giving great gear, 320,000 potency and 5200 resolve aren't good recommendations as of this time. I would go with 5600 for resolve and 360,000 potency, as that is top end right now.

@@sarcastrophe6992 well towards end of RoS people were getting insane stats, 5800 resolve and 400-440k was top, but now it's 600k+ for potency and 6800/6900+ for resolve

My advice for anyone who wants to dps in this game is to prioritize your stats.....get your fervor cb and pot as high as u can abd work on getting all your spells/combat arts to ancient or celestial

One of the first things you said is that a DPS needs to assist through the tank? No. Not if you want to maximize DPS, which is your main job obviously. Tanks don't care if you need to cast a 3 second AoE spell when acquiring their target, so they can grab any add and hit their CAs. If you target through the tank, you're destroying your AoE DPS potential. They also aren't going to prioritize linked targets so you can increase DPS by utilizing encounter spells for more DPS.
The part about healers not benefiting from macros is also just so insanely wrong. If you're a healer and don't macro /cancel_spellcast before your cures and emergency buttons then you're going to be late on a bunch of stuff.
obviously yes, this is outdated, it was made during RoS. You don't necessarily have to target through the tank, most in raids target through a main assist. Healers, yes, do benefit from cancel spell cast on their group cure and group saves. As far as AoE dps, it depends on class to class, some classes (like wizards) need to target something to cast their spells, their aoes are not self-target and require you to target something to cast, while on the other hand, swashys get 6 aoes that don't require you to target anything, so you can target through the tank, and you can use your aoes. Main assist for most stuff should cover things, rest of the time. But also, for instances like den challenge, you WANT to target through the tank, so you don't die, its for aggro reasons, not "maximizing dps"
That's not the kind of macros i meant. I mean don't put every skill you have in a macro. Generally a damage macro or a solo macro is fine. Kind of a damage plus heals so i can just do solos with one button. But in a group you most likely wont be doing much damage if you are with a sufficiently fast group. You will just be healing and curing.
DPS should assist through the tank. with the /assist. Targeting through the tank is another thing. you can make a small macro as a dps to tap to find the tanks target. During raids there are some times you need to target through the tank regardless. In groups you have a little more leway. I do find that as a MT, you want to have everyone going through you to kind of weild the DPS as a weapon and change the damage to where you need it. Certain classes will be hurt by this, Necros for example can't really hit their stride till they get all the dots on, so it's a slow ramp up, but in a fast fight they aren't going to be doing that anyway as stuff dies too fast. So either way, targeting through the tank is a good thing.
If you don't trust your tank to know how to weild the dps through smart targeting of enemies, then you need a new tank in your dungeon group. Many times you need to take specific targets down, if everyone is targeting or /assisting at the least through the tank you can focus healers, casters, dps, and tanks as needed. If everyone is attacking the closest enemy to themselves, the dps is split and everything dies slower.

There is. and yes. To do well there are sooo many abilities and things you need to know.
Having issues with macros... with not being able to pause in between some abilities get skipped mid macro test.
You mean they aren't casting at all? I would review what they do and make sure they are actually doing what you think they are. Sometimes, some abilities don't actually say they are until canceled and will turn on and off as well
That's not how one-click macros work. They will attempt to cast/use all of your CA/spells at once... whichever is off cooldown is the one that gets used, so the order matters a lot. You're intended to continuously spam that macro so that it keeps running through your rotation.
So macros work like this. each press will try to cast 2 abilities, you will cast the first one and the last one. then the next time you press the button it will cast the first available spell and the last one. and on and on. you will want to keep your low recat time spells to the bottom because they will come back too fast for the ones below it to cast.
if you get a moment where you have a lag moment where everything has cast, try moving a low recast up a step and hit ok to save the change. then watch the macro each time to see when you stop casting the next to last spell. this will give you a perfect roation with 0 lag time.
@@AntizarkGaming yeah I just put all the direct dmg spells on one and it never runs the whole cycle but I’ve seen videos of others getting it to work. Mainly I have my heroic opportunity always going first so I get the bonus from the rest once complete.
so the problem you might have is that your casting speed or reuse speed is too low or too high, if you have 100% reuse speed and your damage spells come back too fast, you wont make it through the whole thing no matter the order, similarly if your casting speed is too low, you wont get through your spells fast enough. The best thing you can do is sort skills by casting speed at the top have your long cast times and long reuse, if you have long cast times with short reuse those will stall your macro too because it takes so long to cast. This usually happens with ascensions spells
