I gotta say I really like your video, I’ve come and gone from the game periodically because I don’t get the chance to dedicate all the time like I used to (back in 2007-2010 when I raided in some pretty good guilds clearing nearly all content), it’s nice to see a video where somebody really goes in depth and explain some cool stuff that I have forgot about. I really do like how you pointed out chaos cloud which still has used no matter how you slice it. In the end as a tank it’s more about Agro control than it is DPS even though both are required to accomplish the task. I always kept chaos cloud because it’s nice having two AOE snaps even if you don’t use it. Nowadays I’m a casual player but I try to keep up to where I can at least complete All the challenge heroics. This game may not be what it was many years ago but I still hold a place in my heart knowing that I really like this game so much and how much I really love playing the shadow knight. Death march was absolute king in those early years because the boosted gave to the whole group with Cast speed / DPS / STR / INT which basically improved The group by about 70% all around. It also used to have the AOE Agro snap attached to it. I wish they would make those class defining spells much more powerful So you would actually notice the gain instead of using ACT just to check and see if it helped. To be honest that’s all I would actually like to see so each class Keeps its own unique specialty like I did back then.
thanks so much for the response, this was definitely one of my more decisive videos that i made, so it's great to hear good feed back. sadly though, with the new expansion chaos cloud is getting farther behind and if it's not fixed in the next expansion it will be completely off the table as far as damage is concerned, BUT apparently they are making aggro a fairly non issue and taunt has a much bigger role and not damage dealing, which is amazing!

Awesome! The only change with current content, is that everyone gets a free grandmaster at 125, so chaos cloud is woefully outmatched by a grand master grave sacrament even with the hate positions and the reset, i have the collectors edition celestial version and it is sometimes 58% of my damage in big AOE fights because both grave and chaos have no limit to the amount of enemies they hit, along with hateful respite. So you can do some serious damage :) I hope you enjoy SK, it's my favorite!
Oh and go Thaumaturgist for the Oblivion Link. The ability double cast is like 30 extra and can't be beat. you can cast it on your pet and it will make a feedback loop as your pet is linked to your ADC and Oblivion link increases based off of the ADC of the person it is cast on. It will eventually level out, but it gives you the most.

Figured I update most of this since Anti has been out for almost a year. Aggro is not through taunts, its through damage. Use grave sacrament, and use a good rotation and stick to it. good rotation? basically hit everything, reapers touch, crusader judgment, zealot challenge, exquisite torment, shadow coil, hit basically most of your combat arts and spells, rest of it comes through stats and levelling up your ascensions. temps and weaving is based on experience, I (nor any other sk) can't tell you how to do it, its something you have to do. What we can do, is give examples for each temp/dmg reduction and what it does.
Hi there. Nice video! I was wondering if you could enlighten me (and possibly others) about the lvling aspect of this class, especially which aa's should be prioritized first. Me and a friend were feeling nostalgic so we have reactivated the game and are duoing sk/fury. We havn't gotten far yet, around lvl 25 and 50 aa with no twink gear. We activated mercs (dirge and warlock) and went to Fallen Gate at 20. In there I just couldn't keep aggro on encounters. The warlock tanked better than me.
My main is an Assassin (Jarlaxyl) but this makes me want to play an SK now lol. Keep up the awesome videos. Would you be able to make a dps video for Assassins?
Was actually gonna so a video on this one soon. But do weeklies, get achievements, get your celestial by doing all the quests, find all the POIs in dungeons do all the solos, do all the heroics, you can raid but don't need to, do all 3 den of shadows
oh and do your POI and Small chest quests aswell. you get 245 charms for them so they are good for when you don't have the charms but also are 2 shiny collections you need for the necklace. if you run heroics non stop, you will get the shinies you need for the necklace also you will be able to see blues when you finish heroic yellow shinies so you can get the blue shinies in Backwoods brawl for the ring.

Even tried to contact Daybreak petition but everyone speaks in end game, been here 10 years, shorthand, you're a dummy if you don't know lingo and new players are just left scratching their heads until they just quit in frustration.
Have you done the achievements that say they grant a prestige point? Those are the only ones that will do it. You can also do stuff after you finish the reign of shadows timeline that will give prestige.
It is like that a lot! With the new expansion it is important to either memorize the dungeon or use way points as there is no map for the darkpaw warrens at the moment.
Two of the best tricks i have learned since i posted this video, is that you can use chaos cloud AND grave sacrament! all you need to do is have death march on the hot bar and cast it after you cast your aoe chain. that being said. I have put the AOE "chain" of spells on the bar and generally cast them from there. They are also in my macro for casting when im not super worried about damage or just casting on the move. these are your harm touch conversion that makes almost all your AOEs cast immediately followed by all of those AOES and finished up with crusaders judgement. This is going to be your big hitter and will cast instantly. I then do the death march and cast either grave sacrement again or keep it until something drops aggro. this chain will definitely make you do loads of damage. Also, since then we have gotten the epic 3.0. That thing is one of my highest damaging spells and makes the group do LOADS of damage when you put 50k potency on all of them
There's some good stuff in there but quite a few things that are not 100% accurate or are outside of the current meta (could change in a few weeks)... Eg., You really shouldn't ever use Chaos Cloud as it is much less damage/hate than Grave Sac. Manawall is an amazing temp when you expect a major hit. I would also suggest folks not include ascensions in a macro, you are going to want to time those. Would be good to perhaps reach out to some of the experienced SKs on the server for advanced tips (Basic, Vassago, Rasheti, Rayth).
While the 4 second threat and damage is higher on grave sacrement, the threat postion change is 4 spots. I don't use grave sacrement in a macro and instead use it to taunt in AOE when i do massive room pulls in VD. I don't really care how much damage it does and i'm only using it for the 4 position snap. I do more than enough damage to hold aggro on that many enemies and just need to solidify it at the start. Chaos cloud also gets the refresh by death march, and by ready up (same as grave sacrement) AND becomes instant cast when reapers touch is active, which is going to refresh between pulls or right as Im pulling because of ready up. Grave Sacrement does not. There is a time and a place for each. High end Heroic content takes a different touch than high end raid. You have much less to worry about when raiding as far as rouge elements and if you do, they are all scripted or predictable, pulling a million mobs and holding aggro against people who don't even have a hate reducing adornment in is a completely different style of play, especially if you don't have people capable of doing trillions in the group but still doing enough to mess with aggro when you haven't dropped a snap yet. In the current high end content where large pulls are common and to be honest regular threat doesn't really do all that much, chaos cloud works well. 90% of ascension spells i would agree do not belong in a macro, Blistering Waste, Dominion of Fire, and Wildfire II on elementalist are fast enough casting speeds at 1.9 seconds, that they are usuable, the other skill like this is on etheralist which is compounding force (if you're not either class, the reuse time will look terrible). As far as experience, I have played SK since AOM, I have also played since just after beta. I am an experienced player. But again, thanks for your feed back.
Mana wall IS in fact, a great skill, just not for the current VD1 and 2 content as a tank pulling rooms as it disappears in like 2 seconds if even that long and i would much rather have the encounter damage of zealous and the tactical use of curing against mobs and not against bosses, and soul claim which is the best skill an SK or paladin can have for killing fast.

My Shadowknight tab under Prestige only gets 25 total points, how did you get 45? 23:54
Doing the ros, vov and ror timeliness and achievements will get you the prestige points. Look atthe achievements to see which ones have upgrades
