Recently, my MPC1000 was having issues with the function keys making it annoying to use. Seemed like a good time to open it up, repair those buttons, and install mpc-stuff's replacement black LCD. Let's get into it!

Glad you put these up, i'm currently modding/restoring a MPC 1000 i picked up cheap. It was already skinned, terribley thats peeling out. They sharpied all the buttons black, and it just looks beat. I know the pads were double triggering so already replacing those but considering going all in and making it fresh. appreciate the videos.
I find your videos deeply satisfying. Thank you for showing the process in fixing these problems, it's super cool you can keep these bits of kit in good shape with a little love, attention and some spares.
I think I need to swap the tact switches on my 1000. I find that I have to press extra hard on certain buttons to get a response. Also have you ever upgraded the HD to a SSD?
Yeah, the tact switches can get like that when thy start going bad. I've never done an upgrade to an SSD before. Lol, I only ever use the compact flash. I just looked into it and the venerable JJ themself uploaded a tutorial. Might be a cool upgrade! th-cam.com/video/t23Fpp1xx7c/w-d-xo.html
@@sumawav yes this dude was posting about them ages ago... the XLCD is nice for the 1000 but no tilt. a regular screen with tilt on the 1000 would make it a serious machine. lol honestly if I knew how to 3d print id be all over it.
I bet the issue is more likely the output jacks. They get a lot of wear and tear from plugging and unplugging cables. One thing to check is if there's audio out of the headphone jack.

The fix is probably very similar. I think they use the same parts too 👍🏽
