Anyway, by decent bicycle, I meant you won't encounter any problems that a bicycle-shaped-object would give, will last you years if not decades, and rides decently enough for fun and exercise rides. $500 (heck, a $1000 bike) is a good price point for that and if you are NOT racing, you don't really need much beyond that. And what's funny is that even if you get more expensive bikes at least you actually do get some performance benefits... unlike what this skin offers you.
Ultimate skins caused a stir when the first one, Pulsefire Ezreal, was released, because it was wayyyyy more expensive than the next most expensive skin at the time. And it wasn't big enough, Rito got away with it, and this is the result of it; insanely inflated skin pricing. I didn't care too much for it, because hey, luxury items exist, but this Ahri skin pricing is ridiculous. Now that this has worked, they'll do it again and again. I still ban Ahri, because even if a single person rages from it being banned, I consider it a win. The dog turds that support this behaviour from Rito deserves every bit of grief they get.
Here in brazil the price is equivalent to around 1500 USD *going by minimum wage* (which means even tho the skin costs around 300 dollars, the minimum wage here is LESS than what the skin costs) We've been calling this skin salAHRY for a while now

Not to mention higher cost of living and extreme tax rates in Canada. I'm not finished school yet so I'm only making~$45,000CAD/year right now. Even that meager income is taxed at 24%, plus 15% sales tax totalling at 39% tax. Once I finish school I'll be losing 53% of my income to taxes lmao. I always wanted to buy a cool skin for my main (Syndra), but after playing the game for ~11 years not only I didn't buy a single skin, I didn't even equip any skins I got from the free boxes, because they all fucking suck. It's their loss and, in the end, I didn't really care. I just made fun of all the people who wanted this or that skin line on Syndra and it always turned out crap. Like when she "finally" got Coven skin, I couldn't help, but glee that not only it wasn't a legendary skin (the bundle of sticks that inhabited Syndramains subreddit and discord severs were completely malding over it), but it also looked bad.

You have to keep in mind that 250 dollars is not affordable for people living outside the US. Take Brazil for example, 250 dollars is 1400 reais, which is basically the minimum wage. Even with a discount, it barely makes a dent on the total price. Riot may seen scummy for asking 250 from you guys, but they look outright evil for asking an entire month's salary for a goddamn skin. And honestly, where is that money even going? The game is getting consistently worse with every year with its glitches, bugs, scripts, and the toxic community. I uninstalled as soon as Vanguard rolled out, last thing I need is tencent getting my data. It's the principle behind marketing a celebratory skin for a pro player known for not using skins and exploiting their fame and impact on the esports scene for millions of dollars. NFL merch such as the Game Jersey (which has the names of your favorite player on the back) only goes for about $130, and that is a physical item you can wear. I would have understood if they wanted to make this an exceptional skin and market it as an ultimate skin or even make a new class of skins for this specific case, but to insult the entire community for a cash grab is cringe and should be treated as such. We had this issue last year with the $200 chromas, which is no different now; Riot needs to stop appeasing the whales and focus on building rapport with the community again.

What???? I left League of Legends, at a time where there was already a lot of skins and microtransactions, but are you seriously saying that people spent more than 100€ on a skin? Everything going above 10€ is already way too overprized, but a lot of people are willing to spent more than that already. You just can't tell me that people are spending over 400€ for an ingame cosmetic. What is wrong with the community? You can buy yourself so much more and useful with 400€. For example, fill up your tank and go visit another country. (This really works best if you live in Europe). If you don't have a car, it might be because you are spending too much money on something that is purely cosmetic in a game. It's not even like you will see it that much. You are not guaranteed to play Ahri all the time, and even if you play her, you have to be always zoomed in, to really get something out of this skin.
I wouldn't go as far to ban people but for me buying a skin like this would just feel disrespectful to myself and others. Full teams of people decate entire years of their short lifetimes to make full games and sell them at like $20-40. To put that money towards something that I am guessing probably only took a month to make and a few thousand to commission tops feels so wrong. Anything above $20 for a cosmetic that's not for a charity feels exorbitant to me. I am no league player though, never tried it. The game is designed to be addicting, to get you on the dopamine spikes when you are actually winning and play good. Which doesn't happen a lot by the way since 8 out of 10 times on average you get shitty, braindead team mates. And that happens in every rank. It's nothing more than a addiction, just look at all the "top" league streamers. They are literally braindead vegetables who ride on copium and are severely addicted to the game. The Russian and Turkish server that you can transfer to, to buy the biggest bundle for around 240$ are currently disabled, because of people abusing it like that. What you do is, transfer your account to Russia or Turkey for 2600 RP, buy whatever amount on them servers via paypal and transfer back to the original server. Not working right now because of the greed of Riot with the Ahri skin. Theres a chance that they open transfers again before the event ends, since its been extended until the end of july.
Note that you need a VPN to get access to these regional store prices. Theres a high chance that they open it up before the event ends, because of people like me that wouldnt otherwise buy the ahri skin for 500$

It sounds strange but there was a time when League was THE example of a F2P game in nearly every aspect. Before Tencent really got their hand high up inside Riot, they had actual good practices. Due to technical limitations most skins were minimalistic, but the pricing was fairly low. Ultimate skins were rare, and most skins were in the 975RP range. And going into Season 3 Riot decided to no longer release simple re-colors and pallet swaps (which were brought back many years later as chromas). OG LoL had no P2W mechanics (albeit it was a bit grindy), was fairly cheap - not just in base pricing, but we had a lot of discounts, and all purchases were just that: you saw something you liked, you paid for it. Even when other companies started to adopt lootboxes and seasons passes, for a good while Riot was going against the current and keeping fair practices in their game. The modern monetization of the game is fairly recent. It started with lootboxes around the time TFT also came into the game. Granted, unlike other games, Riot actually made an effort to make lootboxes more sustainable. They act in conjunction with the progression system, not limiting your options but giving you more. You can still buy things directly, but if you get a bit lucky you can save a few bucks. Unlike CS and other games, LoL was genuinely making their lootbox a bad investment, but still a nice F2P reward. Thing is, from that they delve into battle passes, and while those are better than lootboxes, they only made an addictive game even worse. It started with limited passes a few times of the year with big events, and now we jump from one to the next. Now that Tencent is hungry for more cash, and has successfully lobotomized the top branches of the company, they are going to go back on all the good practices they had in the past. It's sad, really, seeing LoL become the opposite of what it used to be praised for.

I made my peace with those 200 dollars mythic chromas, but to do this when I started playing the game because of Faker and was going to buy the skin even if it's gonna be ultimate skin (syke on that huh) and then they do this. Well, not seeing and selling are two different things. For example, let's say you played 100 games exactly. With a 9% pickrate, you'd meet an Ahri 9 times throughout all of these matches. Not necessarily the guy playing Ahri that game had the skin, even if someone else in the team had it. And this isn't even accounting for the increased banrate and the people inting when they see the skin, so people who bought it are less inclined to use it.

Nobody is entitled to owning a commodity in a video game that is paid for via micro-transactions, it's an optional purchase. Basic economics dictates where there is demand, there is supply. People are willing to spend the money, therefore, I don't give a shit and if you had any sense you wouldn't either. Collector-mentality is such a stupid thing considering everything you own on your account is LEASED to you, it's not a physically owned product, unlike the statue.
My league of legends account is literally from 2009 right at the game's launch and i never spent real money. Free-to-play games always have that cosmetic bubble to scam people. A lot of CSGO skins magically gone because the entire game was replaced by CS2, way worse and scummy than the stuff that RIOT does in my opinion.

They just flat out said „if you want this specific skin for a pixelated character, you have to at least pay us, a billion dollar company, 300$“ and League players actually shilled that much money out. At least CSGO players can say they got scammed, LoL players are just flat out embarrassing themselves I played League back in the day and the only skin i remember paying a lot for was the God-Skin pack for Darius and Garen but even that was still only around 30$.

The issue with the "boycott" is that people were still playing the game. You still support the company by playing the game, and esp by buying other stuff from them. Riot put out Vanguard for League, I stopped playing. Ive made limited exceptions to that for friends that wanted to play, but in general i just dont play league anymore. Plenty of other games out there that I enjoy to play on a daily basis

Ultimate skins caused a stir when the first one, Pulsefire Ezreal, was released, because it was wayyyyy more expensive than the next most expensive skin at the time.
And it wasn't big enough, Rito got away with it, and this is the result of it; insanely inflated skin pricing. I didn't care too much for it, because hey, luxury items exist, but this Ahri skin pricing is ridiculous.

You have to keep in mind that 250 dollars is not affordable for people living outside the US. Take Brazil for example, 250 dollars is 1400 reais, which is basically the minimum wage. Even with a discount, it barely makes a dent on the total price.

Whales - people who spend hundreds, thousands, on games - are not rich kids that can afford it. Most are just compulsive spenders, depressed ad lonely people, or those addicted to the game.

The difference between $400 and $500 for a digital cosmetic is minimal. It's the principle behind marketing a celebratory skin for a pro player known for not using skins and exploiting their fame and impact on the esports scene for millions of dollars.
NFL merch such as the Game Jersey (which has the names of your favorite player on the back) only goes for about $130, and that is a physical item you can wear. I would have understood if they wanted to make this an exceptional skin and market it as an ultimate skin or even make a new class of skins for this specific case, but to insult the entire community for a cash grab is cringe and should be treated as such.
We had this issue last year with the $200 chromas, which is no different now; Riot needs to stop appeasing the whales and focus on building rapport with the community again.

What???? I left League of Legends, at a time where there was already a lot of skins and microtransactions, but are you seriously saying that people spent more than 100€ on a skin? Everything going above 10€ is already way too overprized, but a lot of people are willing to spent more than that already. You just can't tell me that people are spending over 400€ for an ingame cosmetic. What is wrong with the community? You can buy yourself so much more and useful with 400€. For example, fill up your tank and go visit another country. (This really works best if you live in Europe). If you don't have a car, it might be because you are spending too much money on something that is purely cosmetic in a game. It's not even like you will see it that much.
You are not guaranteed to play Ahri all the time, and even if you play her, you have to be always zoomed in, to really get something out of this skin.
I wouldn't go as far to ban people but for me buying a skin like this would just feel disrespectful to myself and others. Full teams of people decate entire years of their short lifetimes to make full games and sell them at like $20-40. To put that money towards something that I am guessing probably only took a month to make and a few thousand to commission tops feels so wrong. Anything above $20 for a cosmetic that's not for a charity feels exorbitant to me. I am no league player though, never tried it. The billions in revenue this game makes seems wild to me, people must really enjoy this game
The game is designed to be addicting, to get you on the dopamine spikes when you are actually winning and play good. Which doesn't happen a lot by the way since 8 out of 10 times on average you get shitty, braindead team mates. And that happens in every rank. It's nothing more than a addiction, just look at all the "top" league streamers. They are literally braindead vegetables who ride on copium and are severely addicted to the game. i actually met a guy who bought the skin and still banned ahri every game. i added him and asked why he told me he is really well off and loved the skin so buying wouldnt affect him in monetary sense but he would rather more people still buy the skin he told me the most expensive bundle should have been 6-8k rp if riot wanted to feel greedy and it would have sold like bread and butter.

The Russian and Turkish server that you can transfer to, to buy the biggest bundle for around 240$ are currently disabled, because of people abusing it like that.
What you do is, transfer your account to Russia or Turkey for 2600 RP, buy whatever amount on them servers via paypal and transfer back to the original server. Not working right now because of the greed of Riot with the Ahri skin. Theres a chance that they open transfers again before the event ends, since its been extended until the end of july.
Note that you need a VPN to get access to these regional store prices. Theres a high chance that they open it up before the event ends, because of people like me that wouldnt otherwise buy the ahri skin for 500$

I have to be honest, that Ahri skin release made me completely change my mind on Riot Games and LoL in general. LoL got so big because of marketing Dota never did so at the beggining so LoL got the reputation of being the good MOBA

It sounds strange but there was a time when League was THE example of a F2P game in nearly every aspect. Before Tencent really got their hand high up inside Riot, they had actual good practices.
Due to technical limitations most skins were minimalistic, but the pricing was fairly low. Ultimate skins were rare, and most skins were in the 975RP range. And going into Season 3 Riot decided to no longer release simple re-colors and pallet swaps (which were brought back many years later as chromas).
OG LoL had no P2W mechanics (albeit it was a bit grindy), was fairly cheap - not just in base pricing, but we had a lot of discounts, and all purchases were just that: you saw something you liked, you paid for it. Even when other companies started to adopt lootboxes and seasons passes, for a good while Riot was going against the current and keeping fair practices in their game.
The modern monetization of the game is fairly recent. It started with lootboxes around the time TFT also came into the game. Granted, unlike other games, Riot actually made an effort to make lootboxes more sustainable. They act in conjunction with the progression system, not limiting your options but giving you more. You can still buy things directly, but if you get a bit lucky you can save a few bucks. Unlike CS and other games, LoL was genuinely making their lootbox a bad investment, but still a nice F2P reward.
Thing is, from that they delve into battle passes, and while those are better than lootboxes, they only made an addictive game even worse. It started with limited passes a few times of the year with big events, and now we jump from one to the next.
Now that Tencent is hungry for more cash, and has successfully lobotomized the top branches of the company, they are going to go back on all the good practices they had in the past. It's sad, really, seeing LoL become the opposite of what it used to be praised for.

Well, not seeing and selling are two different things. For example, let's say you played 100 games exactly. With a 9% pickrate, you'd meet an Ahri 9 times throughout all of these matches. Not necessarily the guy playing Ahri that game had the skin, even if someone else in the team had it. And this isn't even accounting for the increased banrate and the people inting when they see the skin, so people who bought it are less inclined to use it.

Free-to-play games always have that cosmetic bubble to scam people. A lot of CSGO skins magically gone because the entire game was replaced by CS2, way worse and scummy than the stuff that RIOT does in my opinion.

I played League back in the day and the only skin i remember paying a lot for was the God-Skin pack for Darius and Garen but even that was still only around 30$.

Riot put out Vanguard for League, I stopped playing. Ive made limited exceptions to that for friends that wanted to play, but in general i just dont play league anymore. Plenty of other games out there that I enjoy to play on a daily basis
