League of Legends popularized the practice of giving you a free game and then later making money by selling you skins. Specifically non "Pay to win" skins. However, some of these skins are now over 15 years old. Making them rare and exclusively sought after. Although for most of these skins, if you don't already own them, you will never be able to obtain them in your account now.
Today we're looking at some of the rarest skins in League that are no longer obtainable.

I'm one of the older players that got Riot Tristana and Unchained Alistair for free, but I didn't even realize they were rare until seeing a video like this a few years back.
They're rare?? You got one from their TH-cam page and one from Facebook! They were giveaways I had no clue they were rare lol

@@kynkatan8871 there's also a bundle exclusive sivir skin! Goth Annie was one I worked hard for to pay the least for the skin from the bundle haha

While it was in 2018, I got dreadnight garen along with riot tristana when I submitted a ticket to riot support saying the codes for those skins didn’t work. The support guy just added the skin to my account.
Support back in the day was great! I was missing 100 RP for a Volibear skin they asked me to make a põem about Volibear and after doing it they gave me the RP to buy it

I remember two more skins, the sewn chaos skins, I really liked them because they looked like plushies but were cancelled because they were deemed ugly, It was Blitz and Amumu.
Riot girl Tristana is still in the shop. It moved from skins to champion bundle.

it's a bummer that I can't check if it's still there if I have everything in that bundle

Early hextech chests had some of these skins in their pool. I rolled silver kayle at some point and tripple checked, because i was so suprised (and super disapointed, since its only a "silver default chroma"). But this skin disapeared from my profile withing a year, so i think it was a more likely a bug or some other kind of mistake. At some point i saw the ufo corki from the hextech chest too, but i dont if that was a the same case or fake.
Man I would kill to get silver kayle from a hextech. UFO corki too.
It's worth mentioning that, if i recall correctly, Dreadknight Garen was never available for free on the LATAM servers,The free garen skin was actually Garen Commando!, same method to obtain it
I still remember when people didn't know whether to transfer or not to the latam servers, they bribed us with 800 rp an icon and ghost bride Morgana
it was in the shop as normal 975 skin i bought in april 2012

Both we're free i AM in lan and got it from Twitter maybe LAS the other LATAM server can't get it but atleast the countrys that got lan such as Chile,Colombia,Mexico and others I dont recall got it for free.
I recall back in season 6, some rando after game added me and wanted to hook me up on a very generic scam-worded essay about how Unchained Alistar was mine to get for free if I simply did something.
Immediately blocked and reported that guy lmao
I got the Riot Girl Tristana last 2019 from Garena when they celebrated the 10th Anniversary of league though...

Actually Garena accounts used to get opportunities to get a lot of the rare skins! Now that they combined them with regular Riot accounts there's probably a lot of old Garena players who have crazy skin collections.

It's sad, I had the garen, trist and allistar skin on my old main along with a bunch of other skins I owned. Someone hacked into my account, elo boosted and got it perma banned. Went to riot support and told them what happened, but never got the account back. So I lost out on these old skins and whever money I had put into the account. At the time I had a majority of all released annie skins up to super galaxy annie being the newest release. Annie was my old main so I had pretty much all her skins. :/ I wish I could get this account back, but I moved on.

Got to see King Rammus once in game, and had a friend with Pax Sivir.
You fail to mention the legendary unibtainable star guardian gragas skin. The graphics etc. DO exist, they just refuse to release the beast. I cant imagine what else theyre holding back from us just knowing that THAT exists.

@@NicolaiLol It's worth noting that playing the beta for a new server also gave you King Rammus. I'm not sure about all servers, but I play since 2011 and when the beta for the Brazilian server came out in 2012, I played it and got King Rammus (and Goth Annie, iirc you got it if you transfered your account from NA to BR) when the server went live. It's thematic, since the colors match our flag :D

Some of the riot themed skin were actually free in the garena server. Garena just gives aways skins with events. I remember them giving away king rammus skin for having 100+ hours of playtime in dominion when they planned to remove dominion.

I own 800 skins and i am not even close to having half of all of the skins after spending 1800€ in the timeframe of 8 years. (~225€ a year. ~18.75€ a month...which is fine i guess :D) . Catching up with the rate skins are releasing is not possible for non-richies.
Having played since Season 3 I have all the three skins obtainable through social media.

Forgot about Sewn Chaos Blitz and Amumu. They are from early 2017 and were so badly received on the PBE that they were simply canned and never brought to live servers.

Great video about the skins! I definitely didn't know the social media skins where remotely rare, which is cool :) But I couldn't help but notice there's some skins you may have not known about from 7 years ago that were made and ready to go but never got released due to not being up to the standard, those being the Sewn Chaos skins for Blitzcrank and Amumu.
Skin spotlights has videos on them if you want to check them out, I remember actively being excited for them because it's a cool thematic, but what can ya do
I'm proud to say that I own Judgement Kayle. It may be easier to obtain back then, but now, it is rare and unobtainable
@NicolaiLol i want to add also that there are 2 skin that were released on PBE but never made it on live,allegedly the Sewn Chaos Blitzcrank and Amumu.
Not sure if its correct but they didnt make it because they didnt meet the quality standard at that time
The tristana and alistar skins predate the garen giveaway by a lot. The garen skin was actually already in the store before they decided to use it as a giveaway instead.
Tristana as mega man sounds like a cool idea but Ezreal could be also a good fit for the skin

there also used to be i believe 2 kat skins in the files that never made it, you could obtain 2d version of them but it never looked right on a model. along side i think another champ skin.

Deadnight Garen has always been in the store since the beginning. They just gave it away that way instead of making a new skin

when they released the Brazilian servers we got Goth Annie for transferring the account from NA to BR.
And playing on the beta stage of the region gave us King Rammus

There's no tournaments for my league it seems
god it's been so long I really don't remember doing all of that to get riot girl tristana, dreadnought garen, and unchained alistair.
I do however own the original riot fistbump ward skin. and I say original because I could've sworn I saw someone using a newer (and much nicer) version of the same ward skin, although I don't recall ever hearing about a new one being released.
(I also haven't looked it up because I keep forgetting LMAO)
what i can take away from the video is we need an API to see player skins and Icons so we can flex how old we are

I remember getting Riot Girl Tristana for free back when it was available, legit. But then after a few updates, idk if it was them or the Garena problem but I lost the skin forever, unable to obtain it back.
