You don't need to get all the embossing powder off before using the heat gun. Any you leave on is good. You also need to preheat your heat gun so that it starts turning right away because you don't want to blow off any loose embossing powder. You can also use multiple layers of powder to make it thicker. I love your channel.❤
Also, if you will turn on your heat tool for a few seconds before using it to get it warm, and heat from the bottom first for a few seconds, you don’t blow embossing stuff off as much when you heat the top.
Loved this project. The sky's the limit with the focal point. I couldn't wait to get up this morning and make some but then my embossing ink pad went dry. 😮.
I am so glad you enjoyed this project. You are absolutely right, the possibilities are endless. As a quick substitute to the embossing, you can use clear nail polish. A few coats would work great! Thanks for watching
Maggie, if you want a simple and easy way to finish and seal a charm, take a look at Sculpey Gloss Glaze. It dries quickly and is just painted on. You can get it in gloss or glaze. A little goes a long way, I’ve been using my current bottle for a couple years. Another tip, if you use ink jet to print something you want use for a charm, bookmark, ticket, etc., spray it with fixative or polyurethane spray. These dry fast, but set the ink so it won’t run. Then use the sculpey gloss glaze when you finish with your charm. You can actually use any glue, but this glaze dries so fast. I use a brush for painting on glass - the white brushes. They don’t leave brush marks as bad as other brushes. You can also use a heat tool to dry it if you use a thick coat and can’t wait. Thin coats are best. You can paint or texture on top if it if you want to change what you’ve done. It really is a great way to seal paper or clay.
Thanks Cyndee! These are great tips! I'm definitely going to look into the Sculpey Gloss Glaze and the polyurethane spray. Great items to keep in my stash. I appreciate you sharing. Thanks for watching
Awesome Maggie. I have been making similar charms using chipboard and printed words. Then i use diamond glaze. I have used nail polish too. It's addicting!!❤TFS
Hey Maggie. What a great way to decorate Junk Journals. I love it. So many options and so easy!! Loved the idea of using the nail polish for speed and of course you can use more than 1 layer of embossing paper. im going to have a go with these today. Thanks hun. And thanks to Michelle of course xxx
Hi friend! You can also just use chipboard and then you are done. It is study enough, just like the ones I sent you. I made the stamps as dangles, not sure if you remember 😊
Hi Friend! I thought about that too, but I wanted to use up some scraps and wasn't sure how hard it would be to fussy cut chipboard with my washi stickers. I guess I should've tried it first. Thanks Friend! I still have the ones you sent me. I've used a couple in my personal projects. LOVE THEM!! :)
I love these! Too fun. I have so much ugly paper for the backs of these. I have a mini pancake maker that Marion Emberson used to emboss little things, so when I finish other things I'll break that out and try it. For single layer things it works faster than my heat gun so I'll test it out :)
@@SunsetCrafts I found it Maggie (it was awhile ago). I think she has a recent one too. Keeps me from getting marks in my embossing. I don't think I can post links, so in her videos it was "You Won't Believe What I Just Bought!! Prepare To Fall In Love With This Gadget!" Works great on shrinky dinks or whatever the kiddos call it these days. My grandson loved it.
New subbie here. I've watched a few of your videos tonight and what a fun channel you have. I'll be watching a few more this weekend if time allows. Thanks for sharing!
Maggie you scored with that UTEE powder, wow $2.77.. I love this idea of making charms and thanks for adding when you feel uncreative, which happens alot to me.
You know that you can emboss more than once right? To increase the shine even using the super fine granules. Just wait for it to cool before the next layer.
She's a friend who sent me a Happy Mail box. Included in the box was a beautiful junk journal. I shared the link of a detailed flip though of the journal down in the description box.
These small eyelets I bought at Hobby Lobby a long time ago when they still sold them in the Paper Studio section. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them since. Thanks for watching Debbie
I would suggest at least 6 or 7 to get a pretty good thickness. But I believe playing with it and testing it out, you can decide how many layers work best for you. Thanks for watching!

@@SunsetCrafts I never realised there was so many different types of paper punch haha a punch for everything
I make beads the same way by cutting two of the center layers to make a channel in it. You can make dangles with them.😊

I do the same but with glossy accents. Chipboard is quick but for more detailed ones, I can see layering paper.
I'll have to try the chipboard too. Thanks Denise

Hi Maggie, if you crease your paper it will be easier to pour your embossing powder back in the bottle. Thats what I do. Love this cool video.
Thanks Isabel

Rather than using 6 layers of paper, I wonder if using a cereal box to punch your shapes would work.
