Today we are using up our playing cards. These were not my original project idea, but I’m so happy with the way they turned out. We’ll be using small hinges and some slide closures. These are super easy and a lot of fun to make. I hope you will enjoy this project idea and give it a try.

You might be able to find those little closures on the back of picture frames. They’re often used to hold the back of the picture frame in the outer frame, if that makes sense. I probably have a dozen or so old frames packed away in storage. Thanks for sharing another cute project.😊💕📚

You could always cut a point closure out of heavy cardstock, punch a hole in the end & add the brad! 😊

Maggie you did it again. I'm glad you made the mistake on card size because I think we all would have had it happen. I have to try to look for something that looks like a hinge. I'm making a journal for my daughter and I think I'll put my granddaughters pictures inside

Those slide closers have a name because if you search for mini metal slide closers you never find them. They are called Metal picture frame turn fasteners

These are stinkin cute! Question: could you just cut 3 sides of the inner part of the card and leave the left side intact and then that acts as a hinge? You might have to score the left edge and perhaps have a button or piece of lace or fabric for the “doorknob”. This way you don’t have to purchase anything. Just curious if you think this will work?

I have searched for those "closures" on Amazon and Google and Etsy. I cannot find them. If anyone knows their true names, I would be interested.
Hi. They are called picture frame turn buttons. I found mine on Craftelier.com because there they come with brads. Everywhere else comes with screws.
Your ideas are incredible - I accidentally discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago when I was searching for the ID cards and I am so pleased I did - you aren’t just duplicating other ideas, your stuff is original and so fun to make and doesn’t involve expensive products - I really appreciate that what you do is doable and I always end up satisfied with what I make - thanks for being generous with your ideas - take care - oh and this will be my weekend project 👍🏻

Hi Diane, I think you're talking about the little latch to keep the door closed? I bought those off of the Craftelier website. Those are the only ones I've found that come with brads. I absolutely love these! I have so many Tim Holtz paper dolls. This is a great idea to use them up. I was going to run out and get hinges but thought i could use bits of cloth and reinforce cardstock and glue together, then put the brads thru that. This would keep costs down too. I can't wait to try this!

They look lovely. I did a lot of different types of altered playing cards but didn't think of doing it this way yet.
For the closures you can also use an altered can lock, like from colacans and so. Tfs ❤

Love love this! Just such an awesome way to use playing cards and other bits n bobs. I even have a die set or two from Elizabeth Crafts that have some hinge dies and tiny key hole dies that would maybe work. I love the actual hinge hardware for sure so next HL trip will be checking those out too. Great creativity girl!

Another great idea! I can't remember what those closures that holds the doors are called so I can't locate them on Temu. I used to use them all the time but I don't have any left. Do you recall what you called them on Temu?
Hi Mary. My mistake…I went looking for the link and realized that I bought them on Craftelier.com. They are called Turn Buttons. Sorry for the confusion.
No problem..Funnily enough I finally found them on Temu and they were called Picture Frame turn buttons but they was 150 black ones in the package which is too many much as I like black.@@SunsetCrafts
