@@ZachCremisiSky dang that would be so much better. less grinding. i mean the early game might be difficult if they dont listen to you, but after the 2nd gym it should be smooth sailing.
Yeah, same. Master Balls as well. Definitely not as efficient as using Missing No. in Gen 1, lol, but hey, it was the only option. I think they patched this out in Crystal, though, at least I could never get it to work there.
theres a slightly more efficient way to do this, on the first step where you deposit the first starter catch as many extra pokemon as you can, then you can skip trying to catch a pokemon with a single ball for the other two starters, worst case scenario you have to do what you did in the demonstration, best case scenario you catch enough pokemon for the other two starters and have a ball left over
I remember using this glitch back in the day! It stresses not turning off the power during saving so much that finding out on the playground that you could do that to dupe a pokemon felt like learning a secret dark magic.
As it so happens this also relates to the cloning glitch. And on a different note there is a way to change your colour scheme in Crystal that IIRC also has a similar setup to this.
I know that with the Gen 1 cartridges (Red, Blue, Yellow, and most likely Green), you can hold one of the D-pad buttons while powering on to change the color scheme/tint. You can also combine it with the A or B button to change it. Step 1: press and hold the button or button combo. Step 2: Turn on the gameboy color or gameboy advance while holding the buttons. UP: Red UP+A: Red 2 UP+B: Red 3/brown DOWN: Yellow DOWN+A: Yellow 2 DOWN+B: Yellow 3 LEFT: Blue LEFT+A: Blue 2 LEFT+B: Greyscale RIGHT: Green RIGHT+A: Green 2 RIGHT+B: Invert colors (this one is my favorite) This unfortunately doesn't work with the Gold/Silver/Crystal cartridges. If there's a way to change the color scheme with those three, I'd love to know it.
Note: the evolutions will register in your Pokedex, but you'll need to breed to get the glitched starters to register. The other advantage of this is that you're the OT for all three so they will listen to you regardless of badges.
This is an amusing variation of the pokemon duping glitch. It's essentially the same steps, except you save right outside the PC. Deposit the pokemon you want to duplicate, and then switch boxes (which requires a save). Turn off the gameboy between the O in "Off" and the H in "The." Turn the game back on. You have the pokemon in your party, and it's also in the box. If you want to duplicate items, you have the pokemon hold an item. This is how you can get a party of six Lugias and infinite Master Balls.
I figured this out a long time ago. You can actually clone any Pokemon at any point of the game with this trick by depositing from your party to the PC and turning it off during save. When you go back it will be in both your party and the PC. Also, clones items it was holding so you can use for extra masterball. It was a total freak accident when I discovered this. I turned off mid save and was scared it didn't save. When I turned the game back on I was relieved that it sort of saved. I tried to take my Pokemon out of PC cause I changed my mind than noticed it was in party and PC. I connected the dots and tried again with diff Pokemon and figured out it was a cloning glitch.
@@KarmaJolt so... I did it. Little follow up... When you do the glitch in gen 1 the starter Pokemon act as if they were traded. But in gen 2 mine did not. But even though they didn't gain boosted XP the game was a lot easier with 3 starters. Couldn't have had this much fun without your channel. So thank you again.
I remember using this cloning method so many times in my Silver play through when I was a youngin. I had something like 50 mewtwos and 100s of Masterballs. We thought we were the best.
Also works on crystal ✌️I honestly can't even remember how I learnt this glitch back in the day 🤔 like the Internet wasn't really a thing, and I never bought gaming magazines either. This was still my favourite glitch from the best gen of pokemon though
Did this in crystal on accident a long time ago. I dropped typhlosion in the boxes and accidentally turned of the game when saving. When I turned my game back on, I had typhlosion both in my boxes and party. I repeated this and duped a full team to challenge the elite 4
You can do this with Crystal too but, it's more tricky. You have to turn off your Gameboy (or DS in this case, most likely) at the EXACT correct moment. Crystal is just inferior in all aspects. You can't even get Mareep!
If you save prior to pushing a on the pc, that is also how to dupe you're entire team and all they're holding. Aka infinite pokemon, master balls, full restores, elixirs.
This also works for Crystal but the window to reset the game properly was made much smaller so if possible just do it in Gold or Silver then trade to Crystal lol
I remember doing something similar to copy Pokemon when I was a kid. I was seriously underleveled for the elite 4, so I copied my Ho-Oh 3 or 4 times to have better leveled team. Also copied the Mater Ball for easy use on all roaming beasts. There was a glitch that copied your Pokemon in Emerald too, but it meant you deleted one Pokemon and overwrote it with a copy of another, and stupid 10 year old me didn’t do a test run first, mixed up which Pokemon was which and ended up deleting my level 100 Blastoise traded over from Fire Red, holding a kings rock I was gonna copy to get all the kings rock evolutions.
This same glitch can allow you to duplicate Pokemon as well. I believe it's half way through the first line At worse you just can experiment with junk Pokemon but yeah you could dupe Pokemon so easily in the older games. Emerald has a similar cloning glitch but it can be finnicky and a bit harder to pull off in comparison.
