Man, 10 years searching a valid "legal" method (not cheats, only glitches in the original games), and no one has worked to me. Until this!!! I really thank you so much for this video.
Technically this still falls under hacking even if you aren't the one doing it yourself you are still benefiting from it. That being said the game won't be able to tell the difference and any event mons will be transferable up to the latest games no problem.
@@kaifajdiga4667 Its still hacking because the server that the pokemon are coming off of shouldn't exist to begin with. Even though you aren't altering game files like an action replay would you are still benefiting from an illegal server.

The reason why you are able to get pokemon off this illegal server is because the server is acting like it is the official Nintendo server where all of the events came off of back in the day. If the game detected anything unusual it wouldn't let you connect to the server in question on the Nintendo WFC system.

Tip for the router password. Because some might not have the older connection settings. If you can run a hotspot on your cell phone, you can easily connect to that instead. Hotspot is also much easier to turn on than changing router settings for the average person.

Glad it works for you, I tried on August 23, 2023 and all I managed to get were errors saying couldn't connect to Nintendo WFC after connecting to the hotspot. So either there is some small thing I am.missing that prevents it from working or it stopped working some time shortly after you got it to work.

I got it to work and holy crap, I got a whole bunch of tournament event pokemons, 3 Manaphies, a darkrai, Deoxys, and Jirachi, along with the 3 shiny legendary trio of Johto, and I still can't seem to stop finding more event pokemons
@@poncho_5162 I figured the problem, so I guess since platinum technically came out after diamond and pearl, the events only work for diamond and pearl to get deoxys and manaphy

@@cedricc3451 Sadly not, I sometimes go back to it, but I've reached over 10k encounters, and at this point have spent over 50 hours just looking at nothing. I have the patience for it, but just not the commitment.
@@splatticus1507 yea but void glitch only works and diamond and pearl, and is harder and a bit more dangerous for you save file. If you get stuck under the game you may need to restart but if you have Pokémon with fly or teleport it’s fine
@@Sneaker_head111 altogether to get all of em about 2 hours. Its away easier to complete in Gen 5 than Gen 4. In Gen 4 you need both D/P/P and SS/HG to get thru em all
@@miningflame9847 few years ago I bought some kind of action replay cheat (?). Basically you put your game into this adapter and then into the ds cartridge (it perfectly fits in the ds because it’s like a big cartridge with a game inside lol). You can activate cheats. For example specific Pokémon encounters, shiny odds, items, (event-items) etc. so if you want specific Pokémon buy that thing and it saves you a lot of time and money

I found a couple of posts listing the events available for DP, and it seems like Mew isn't one of them. I tried randomly receiving gifts for a good 2 hours, no Mew. However, there is a Mew gift for HGSS, so you can get that and then trade it across to DP
Thank you for this, with a bit more willpower I can manage to get the 3 Key Items that can trigger events but I can do that anytime with this trick. I'm going to repair my Ds Lite, and since I still have my Leaf Green cartridge that works and an Emerald Cartridge arriving soon, I can work my way to make my Diamond Pokedex 100% and get that black trainer card.

If you still need a way go to connection settings for your wifi on 3ds and change the DNS to do not auto obtain and put 164.132.044.106 for the primary DNS. Use mystery gift option with Nintendo WFC and you can get all previous mystery gifts, it will take a bit of patience but you can get a liberty pass ;)
I’ve been trying to do this for a while what kind of phone do you have as I keep trying to use my iphone6s+ but I can’t get it to work. I’ve also tried going to a ton of places that say they have open access or free wifi; McDonald’s, Walmart, Starbucks, hospitals etc, I’d really appreciate it if you could give me a hand.

@@12397bmw i have a galaxy s6. It allows me to make a hot spot without a password. It can't have a password and still connect to the old nintendo stuff
To answer your question about that, they are permanently programmed that way and you have to turn parental controls off every time to use a service for the 3DS
still works! you do need to use your router with no password but i have a secondary one that is hidden with no password and can turn off wireless with a press of a button on it. I also just plugged it into my existing one since I do not want to disturb my other devices
Oh, I might try out this method on getting those Mystery Gift in my copy of Platinum. That was unexpected to see there was a non-hacking method getting these settings.
Okay, I just tried it out, I managed to get the Shiny Entei, Arceus, Regigigas, Jirachi, two PokeApps, Lucario Doll (the title is in Japanese), The Secret Key, Member's Card, Pikachu Colored Pichu, and Colbat. (I already did had Shiny Suicune & Celebi at 2011 in Platinum) I do realize that it's complete RNG when connecting the internet in these settings and plus that it's annoying the Wonder Cards had be limited to Three Holds every time to get it, I sadly had to trash the two Wonder Cards from 2011. I haven't encounter an Oak's Letter to get to the Shaymin Event. I might have to try this out on HeartGold, Black, Black 2, & White 2 as well. Edit: I finally got Oak's letter and Shiny Raikou in Platinum.
Ok, I managed to test this out on HeartGold version, the Wi-Fi settings does work in HeartGold and I managed to gathered up a lot of the Events in HeartGold besides the Mew, Celebi, and Shiny Suicune I got from 2010. I’m going to do the same for Black, Black 2, and White 2.

Edit: as of 05.06.2023 there seems to be an error code again - which means it's not working anymore sadly. Or maybe I'm just shadow banned? No idea but it used to work! :< I just tried this and it still work! (27.05.2023) Had to do it via mobile hotspot (had to do it without password or else it wouldn't work). @@elijahfrazier445 Unfortunately it is not possible to do it with IOS because it doesn’t allow you to create a hotspot without a password. If you do not have an android ask a friend with an android to help you.
Yesterday i was finally able to connect to the Nintendo WFC on my 3DS with the Hotspot on my Android phone but i still can’t get the mystery gifts because it says that it’s no longer available for my software (3DS XL), how do i fix this?
@@BlackAntoITA the way I did is: do not connect with ingame wifi because it causes errors. Only connect via the 3ds internet. And then ingame click the option mystery gift and then it should work! Everytime I tried to open the ingame wifi options it says service not available (it's also the case in bw for me)
I swear the darkrai event activated for me as a kid. Me and my brother freaked out and he never was able to get it to work on his DS. I never went to an event.
If you have a phone, you can also do this by activating wifi hotspot, this way you won't have to configure your router every time you want to get an event
I need to know how to option the WEP security key or how to get the connection to go through. I do not know how to remove the security on my wifi I need help

In case anyone is still following this today and is a Spanish speaker like me, you have to invert the order of the phrases on the Jubilife TV section of the tutorial. So first do "CONEXIÓN WI-FI" and then "TODOS FELICES" instead of the other way around.
Didn't know these servers were still up, nice. Might have boot up my Platinum again and experience these events again. Hopefully in time we'll get similar servers for the Switch games. Need to get the shiny Zama's, shiny Eternatis, and Original Color Magearna events (Assuming this one can be gotten outside of Home that is). I know Switchbru is still a thing, so hopefully someone finds a way to retrofit the idea behind that to Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet.
Im trying to do it at the moment but it just says, nintendo wi fi connection for this software has been discontinued. Does anyone know why or how to fix this because ive seen its working for other people
This is pretty much the only way I can own a Shaymin and Darkrai I caught and named myself without resorting to buying SWSH and BDSP to unlock access to catch them in PL:A.
Just a question: do you have any list of all the available items/events in that private server? I'm asking because the events appearence are completely random, and I don't really know when to stop... xD
The gen 4 gifts are on a loop they change everyday until they reach the first one again. Easiest way is just change the date manually and the gift will change. Gen 5 gifts are random so you just have to keep trying.
@@thegingerviking8698 the last time I tried it that’s how it worked. Some gifts do repeat on consecutive days then change the next. I did map out the order of gifts on my iPad. I’ll have to charge it up and get the list up. Gen 4 gifts are on a loop that change per day and gen 5 are random

When does the error code pop up? I just saw this video a few hours ago and followed his steps but the connection wouldn't work on the mystery gift page, when looking for a gift. Thankfully checked most recent comments and saw a DNS code that worked for me. Try using DNS Code 167.086.108.126. I was able to obtain the Azure flute, Celebi, Arceus in just my first few tries. Hopefully it works for you, let me know if it does.
What game are you playing? I believe there are different DNS codes if your playing gen 4. Which include Pearl, Diamond, Platinum, Hear Gold, and Soul Silver. While Gen 5 Include Black, White, Black 2 and White 2. Try 178.062.043.212 if not try removing the zeros from the middle numbers. And the bottom DNS leave it with all zeros. Then check connection and if it connects it should work in the mystery gift. Let me know if it worked.
Tried in Australia, on diamond and pearl and a ds lite and 3ds. having issues connecting and when it sometimes does it says the wifi is discontinued. is the dns us based? also tried hotspot and router
(20/05/2024) The mystery gifts still work. I had to use a different primary dns, [167.086.108.126]. The console I used was a 3ds xl. Extra tip (hotspot from a Samsung phone that has no password).
When I edited primary DNS it says invalid Edit: Nevermind, this worked great! I just didn't follow instructions well enough lol. Connected through my phone via wifi hotspot!

@@XmanXX181 I read a comment on a different video that said that if you don’t have a Android phone, you can use your Windows 10 PC and set up a hotspot on that. No idea if that works but it sounds promising. Good luck.
@@StarShade0 can’t use a windows computer as hotspots from there have to have a password. It has to be from an unsecured network so you either have to disable your home security or connect to a public WiFi with no security. Issue is that 99% of public WiFi need you to go to another page in safari to click connect nowadays, but the DS does not allow for that

I have been trying a lot and it’s the only pokemon that I’m missing to complete the pokedex… In many forums deoxys is listed to be obtainable but I can’t believe it is so difficult to get, I know it is all randomized but it’s kinda ridiculous that I can’t get it :(

I think digging still needs to be done to unlock them IF Nintendo even put an unlock on them. It seems to work in DPP bc the devs put in an Easter egg. Either for bug testing or for die-hard fans. IF black/white has a “password” the same way DPP does, I don’t think we’ve found it yet
routers in 2023 are amazing, just in my router settings i was able to create a "guest" wifi network and connect my old ds to that (can set a password or go without) so didnt have to stuff around with other settings. this method still works march 2023

@@marti3057 You need to make sure your Guest wi-fi has password disabled. I went into my 2.4 GHz wi-fi connection GUEST settings on my PC and changed my security from "WPA - Default Password" to "OFF - No Privacy." This allows you to connect your DS to your WPA without a password. Then I searched for Access Points on my DS and found my GUEST Wi-Fi connection that was open to the public with no password. Once successfully connected, follow the video starting at 3:50 to change to the correct IP address and then you can receive the event items.
When it comes to the Wi-Fi settings, I have a 3ds and use a virtual console version of this platinum. So I can hook up to a more secure version of internet on my 3ds but will the virtual console platinum work with the better internet? Edit: I managed to do this with black 2 but I actually had the cartridge

From what I know Arceus is not possible to get in Shiny Form but Darkrai and Shaymin are. Some say they are only in Platinum but I don't think so^^

I found a couple of posts listing the events available for DP, and it seems like Mew isn't one of them. I tried randomly receiving gifts for a good 2 hours, no Mew. However, there is a Mew gift for HGSS, so you can get that and then trade it across to DP
Thank you for this, with a bit more willpower I can manage to get the 3 Key Items that can trigger events but I can do that anytime with this trick. I'm going to repair my Ds Lite, and since I still have my Leaf Green cartridge that works and an Emerald Cartridge arriving soon, I can work my way to make my Diamond Pokedex 100% and get that black trainer card.

If you still need a way go to connection settings for your wifi on 3ds and change the DNS to do not auto obtain and put 164.132.044.106 for the primary DNS. Use mystery gift option with Nintendo WFC and you can get all previous mystery gifts, it will take a bit of patience but you can get a liberty pass ;)

@@12397bmw i have a galaxy s6. It allows me to make a hot spot without a password. It can't have a password and still connect to the old nintendo stuff

To answer your question about that, they are permanently programmed that way and you have to turn parental controls off every time to use a service for the 3DS
still works! you do need to use your router with no password but i have a secondary one that is hidden with no password and can turn off wireless with a press of a button on it. I also just plugged it into my existing one since I do not want to disturb my other devices

If you can’t change your router settings you can also use a mobile hotspot with an Android Phone or Tablet
Oh, I might try out this method on getting those Mystery Gift in my copy of Platinum. That was unexpected to see there was a non-hacking method getting these settings.
Okay, I just tried it out, I managed to get the Shiny Entei, Arceus, Regigigas, Jirachi, two PokeApps, Lucario Doll (the title is in Japanese), The Secret Key, Member's Card, Pikachu Colored Pichu, and Colbat. (I already did had Shiny Suicune & Celebi at 2011 in Platinum) I do realize that it's complete RNG when connecting the internet in these settings and plus that it's annoying the Wonder Cards had be limited to Three Holds every time to get it, I sadly had to trash the two Wonder Cards from 2011. I haven't encounter an Oak's Letter to get to the Shaymin Event.
I might have to try this out on HeartGold, Black, Black 2, & White 2 as well.
Edit: I finally got Oak's letter and Shiny Raikou in Platinum.
Ok, I managed to test this out on HeartGold version, the Wi-Fi settings does work in HeartGold and I managed to gathered up a lot of the Events in HeartGold besides the Mew, Celebi, and Shiny Suicune I got from 2010. I’m going to do the same for Black, Black 2, and White 2.

you can use a phone hotspot without a password instead of unsecureing your router
One thing I did to make the router thing easier is I set up a hidden Hotspot on my phone with no password, the ds is able to connect that pretty easy

@@elijahfrazier445 Unfortunately it is not possible to do it with IOS because it doesn’t allow you to create a hotspot without a password. If you do not have an android ask a friend with an android to help you.

Yesterday i was finally able to connect to the Nintendo WFC on my 3DS with the Hotspot on my Android phone but i still can’t get the mystery gifts because it says that it’s no longer available for my software (3DS XL), how do i fix this?
@@BlackAntoITA the way I did is: do not connect with ingame wifi because it causes errors. Only connect via the 3ds internet. And then ingame click the option mystery gift and then it should work!

I swear the darkrai event activated for me as a kid. Me and my brother freaked out and he never was able to get it to work on his DS. I never went to an event.
You likely used Action Replay and forgot about it. Darkrai CANT be caught without Event Item

If you have a phone, you can also do this by activating wifi hotspot, this way you won't have to configure your router every time you want to get an event

In case anyone is still following this today and is a Spanish speaker like me, you have to invert the order of the phrases on the Jubilife TV section of the tutorial. So first do "CONEXIÓN WI-FI" and then "TODOS FELICES" instead of the other way around.

Didn't know these servers were still up, nice. Might have boot up my Platinum again and experience these events again. Hopefully in time we'll get similar servers for the Switch games. Need to get the shiny Zama's, shiny Eternatis, and Original Color Magearna events (Assuming this one can be gotten outside of Home that is). I know Switchbru is still a thing, so hopefully someone finds a way to retrofit the idea behind that to Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet.

The SSID is your wifi name

The gen 4 gifts are on a loop they change everyday until they reach the first one again. Easiest way is just change the date manually and the gift will change.
Gen 5 gifts are random so you just have to keep trying.

Some gifts do repeat on consecutive days then change the next. I did map out the order of gifts on my iPad. I’ll have to charge it up and get the list up.

When does the error code pop up? I just saw this video a few hours ago and followed his steps but the connection wouldn't work on the mystery gift page, when looking for a gift. Thankfully checked most recent comments and saw a DNS code that worked for me. Try using DNS Code 167.086.108.126. I was able to obtain the Azure flute, Celebi, Arceus in just my first few tries. Hopefully it works for you, let me know if it does.

What game are you playing? I believe there are different DNS codes if your playing gen 4. Which include Pearl, Diamond, Platinum, Hear Gold, and Soul Silver. While Gen 5 Include Black, White, Black 2 and White 2. Try 178.062.043.212 if not try removing the zeros from the middle numbers. And the bottom DNS leave it with all zeros. Then check connection and if it connects it should work in the mystery gift. Let me know if it worked.

I had to use a different primary dns, [167.086.108.126].
The console I used was a 3ds xl.
Extra tip (hotspot from a Samsung phone that has no password).

@@StarShade0 can’t use a windows computer as hotspots from there have to have a password. It has to be from an unsecured network so you either have to disable your home security or connect to a public WiFi with no security. Issue is that 99% of public WiFi need you to go to another page in safari to click connect nowadays, but the DS does not allow for that

I think digging still needs to be done to unlock them IF Nintendo even put an unlock on them. It seems to work in DPP bc the devs put in an Easter egg. Either for bug testing or for die-hard fans.
IF black/white has a “password” the same way DPP does, I don’t think we’ve found it yet
routers in 2023 are amazing, just in my router settings i was able to create a "guest" wifi network and connect my old ds to that (can set a password or go without) so didnt have to stuff around with other settings. this method still works march 2023

How are you connecting to the Nintendo Wifi Connection, if i have WPA2 how can i connect my DS to internet?
@@marti3057 You need to make sure your Guest wi-fi has password disabled. I went into my 2.4 GHz wi-fi connection GUEST settings on my PC and changed my security from "WPA - Default Password" to "OFF - No Privacy." This allows you to connect your DS to your WPA without a password. Then I searched for Access Points on my DS and found my GUEST Wi-Fi connection that was open to the public with no password. Once successfully connected, follow the video starting at 3:50 to change to the correct IP address and then you can receive the event items.
When it comes to the Wi-Fi settings, I have a 3ds and use a virtual console version of this platinum. So I can hook up to a more secure version of internet on my 3ds but will the virtual console platinum work with the better internet?
Edit: I managed to do this with black 2 but I actually had the cartridge
question so you don't have to do the secure router step if you have a 3DS XL like I do that's only if you have one of the older models of the DS?
