      1) How is this "When his advice to the CinC to not withdraw from Afghanistan was ignored and that turned into the worst foreign policy debacle in the last 40 years" his fault then?
      2) How does he "Completely lack" "honor and integrity"?
      3) If anything, you can only blame Milley for actually following orders from the Commander in Chief, i.e., the President, for what you say is "He brought the culture wars full bore into the military - race essentialism, transgenderism, CRT and DIE"... I guarantee you, if it was up to him, he wouldn't have done any of this. He was unfortunately not in charge of that decision... it was the supreme decision of the Commander in Chief, who's decision was based on more democrat/liberal culture war issues as part of their party's general policy not only across the DoD as a whole, but the entire Federal government itself. The very same "culture wars full bore into the military - race essentialism, transgenderism, CRT and DIE" can be seen/found across the entire Federal government's entire system/architecture/institutions.
      4) When you say "There's a reason the military hasn't reached its recruiting, and perhaps more importantly, retention goals for the last 4 years"... the entire US Military has NOT reached its "recruiting" NOR its "retentions" GOALS for the "last 4 years" under Biden... NOR under Trump, the previous 4 years... NOR under Obama the previous 8.

@@KMN-bg3yu*Milley says Trump disrespected US military with execution comment*
      Karl de Vries
      4 - 5 minutes
      _Washington CNN_
Outgoing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley believes former President Donald Trump’s recent suggestion that he deserved to be executed after speaking with a Chinese general during Trump’s fraught final months in office is part of a broader swipe at the US military by its former commander in chief.
Speaking to CBS’s Norah O’Donnell in a '60 Minutes' clip released on Wednesday, Milley - who also said he will _"take appropriate measures”_ to ensure his and his family’s personal safety in the wake of the former president’s remark - offered no regrets about his efforts to reassure his Chinese counterpart about the stability of the US during Trump’s efforts to stay in office. In a Truth Social post last week, Trump said the backchannel communications by Milley amounted to a _“treasonous act”_ that was _“so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH!”_
It’s a disturbing remark, even by the standards of Trump’s usual inflammatory rhetoric and the contentious relationship between the two men, and it is especially jarring at a time when Trump is the clear front-runner for the Republican nomination for president.
_“As much as these comments are directed at me, it’s also directed at the institution of the military. And there is 2.1 million of us in uniform,”_ Milley told CBS. _“And the American people can take it to the bank, that all of us, every single one of us, from private to general, are loyal to that Constitution and will never turn our back on it no matter what. No matter what the threats, no matter what the humiliation, no matter what.”_
_“If we’re willing to die for that document, if we’re willing to deploy to combat, if we’re willing to lose an arm, a leg, an eye, to protect and support and defend that document and protect the American people, then we are willing to live for it, too.”_
Asked by O’Donnell if there was _“anything inappropriate or treasonous”_ about the outreach to China, Milley replied, _“absolutely not. Zero. None.”_
Milley made two backchannel calls to China’s top general, Li Zuocheng, that were revealed in 'Peril', the 2021 book by journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa. In October 2020, as intelligence suggested China believed the US was going to attack them, Milley sought to calm Li by reassuring him that the US was not considering a strike, according to the book. Milley called again two days after the January 6 riot at the US Capitol to tell Li that the US is _“100 percent steady”_ even though _“things may look unsteady.”_
Milley’s actions prompted sharp criticism from Trump and his allies, including calls for Milley’s resignation and that he be tried for treason. The general has defended his behavior during the last days of the Trump administration, saying his interactions were not only appropriate but that numerous senior Trump officials were aware it occurred.
Milley, who will retire at the end of this week, told O’Donnell he was not worried about his safety despite Trump’s recent remarks.
_“I’ve got adequate safety precautions,”_ he said. _“I wish those comments had not been made, but they were. We will take appropriate measures to ensure my safety and the safety of my family.”_
Trump’s broadside against Milley sparked criticism on Thursday from his own vice president, Mike Pence, who himself has been the subject of Trump’s indifference to the safety of his closest advisers.
_“There’s no call for that kind of language directed towards someone who’s worn the uniform of the United States and served with just distinction,”_ Pence told Phil Mattingly on 'CNN This Morning'.

On behalf of my fellow OEF vets out there, I make this comment. This interview if you want to call it that lacked any question relating to Gen Milleys total failure in the debacle of Afghanistan. He was responsible for putting Gen McKenzie in charge of Afghanistan and the drawl down and we all know how that turned out. Zero accountability for any of these Generals that perpetuated a lie that we were making progress in Afghanistan when the rest of us serving in that combat zone knew otherwise. They kept the war going to line their pockets with future board seats on Defense Contractor boards and a book deal. No one has been held accountable for the 21 deaths and countless wounded of American soldiers not to mention the over 250 Afghanistan civilians killed. Pathetic.

I could be misreading his affect, but my social work creds don't think so. You've got to have your head screwed on right to successfully make the transition from flag rank in the military, to private, relatively unstructured life. • @fuckoff4581
      @fuckoff4581 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Wow who are you? I would suggest that Fredendall was exactly not a good commander but I don't see any comparison. Fredendall's failure came from not approaching command with forward position intelligence and instead building defenses in the rear. What is happening on the battlefield. Not what may happen overhead. I see no point of comparison. Afghanistan or specifically the withdrawal from Afghanistan was not some lack of forward command or such as the likes of the 36th infantry assault on the Gari River in ww2. The president give a command to fall back and the general command give the message to the corp command. Milley may have had and idea what should be going on with the withdrawal but was not the commander of the corp or division withdrawing from that Country. I don't see your point other then that you seem to suggest Milley not a capable Chairman of the JCS. It was not the Chairman of the JCS job description to design a withdrawal from Afghanistan. But then you would suggest to blame the Chairman. So be it. You got one person's attention that doesn't see your point. You seem to be attacking someone without provocation or fact orientated condition. Just suggesting to call a commander bad without any real condition. Those commanders you mentioned may or may not have been problematic. Only one seemed truthfully problematic and was relieved. I was on of the JCS members that was somewhat shocked by Fredendall's approach that got him relieved if you read the history of his command and then Patton took over. I think I understand the seen in the movie now that put Patton in a fight with an airplane strafing him and his command, with his 45 shooting at the German attacking aircraft.

The Character of War 4:12 - Tactics, doctrine technology and weapons Gen. Milley does not mention nuclear weapons why? You don't find any military leaders in the west discussing that topic except in casual passing. The US has allowed its nuclear deterrent to atrophy and age out far pass its origiinal service life. Now they are in a race against time to revitialize, and modernize everything. Currently, over budget and behind schedule, the nation is in deep trouble.

Thanks, General Mark for the candid instruction on the military then and now. Ai and lethal force concerns me significantly. It's too easy to build a Frankenstein and let it run amok. Mankind doesn't have the discipline or moral clarity to handle the monster. I think that Ai is more perilous than nuclear warfare. At least humans retain the decision making process and control over launching nuclear bombs. Ai presents an entirely different set of problems. I agree with Miley that humans must stay in the loop. It was nice to see the General again, even if I didn't recognize him out of uniform. God bless him. We need more officers of his caliber in our military.
