- After driving it around Penang and back to KL, we are truly surprised at how good the Proton S70 actually is. It offers everything you could want in a b-segment sedan and then mixes it up with good looks, a great interior and a decent powertrain. We think that Honda and Toyota have a problem, and this is why.

If only there's wagon/estate version of S70.
Not only the driver's command, the car also recognises if the command comes from passenger, so it can control the passenger side of window as well as the air conditioning. One thing I did noticed though, the 1.5 3 pot turbo easily running out of puff once it revs at higher rpm.

In south east asia alone vios and city combined sales is easily more than half million each year. Toyota and Honda are not worried at all with S70. Proton doesn't even dare to sell Geely based models in Thailand and Indonesia.. 2 largest automotive market in Asean.
The current Geely models such as the X70, X50, X90 … are already having a headache when it comes to parts replacement. Having to wait so many months with cars waiting inside the service center. It may have some fancy lights but it will never come close to being a “Headache free” car compared to Honda or Toyota or even the continental brands.
Many orde brands have the same problem. Waiting for some parts to be shipped and all that. Stop being all negative with that as if its only proton that has the problem.
I haven’t had any issues with Japanese brands or continental cars. But like I and so many other X70 owners have with Proton, it may not be proton’s fault but the problem is still there. Not being negative, these are facts.
Not trying to be pedantic but u cant start a statement with "I" and end it with "fact" 😅 at best it is a testimony and at worse it's a slander.
I can also say the same about H/T . A lot of my peers,friends and colleagues also go for H/T and tbh those who have had issue w their car is countable with 2 hands.. and of course the same with P1 and P2 too.
A lot of misconception about the "reliability" of a car build up based on late 90s to early 2000s word of mouth. Modern care are generally VERY reliable.
Sure some are "manja" and some are more tolerant toward abuse but ultimately if you follow the schedule and service on time, most modern car will not disappoint you.
Ngl when I read a lot of these kinds of comment on yt/twitter and TikTok, it's as if I can sense a hint of bitterness lol. Not sure why. Probably already accidentally bought a H/T/P2 car recently? 🤣
If anything I'd give Proton the benefit of the doubt since in the end it's the customer who win if they deliver and have no issue with spare parts etc.

But I haven’t drove a Proton since the X70. I’m very happy with my new Volvo XC90 T8 and my Golf R.
Even Proton got some problem with their older car like Saga and Persona. Recently, my Saga got an issue with the steering making some weird noise, they unable to solve it.
If only they made this with a station wagon/estate/shooting brake option.

I think Proton have problems, more new WRV than proton S70 on the road. The car is not selling. If its rm65k without turbo better fuel mileage it may works.
New car of course quiet. Review again after 3 months.. lol
Not a single S70 in sight as of today in my town. I own X50, touch close function of driver's door not working. Cannot be repaired, so have to wait for parts. Luckily, can use remote key to operate. People scared of electronics failing on China made car . So whether S70 x50 etc. sure give owners headache.
Nope! I'm still waiting/wishing - perhaps Proton will bring in Geely Jiaji and change its name to whatever. 'S' or 'X' or 'Z' or bla bla bla so-called thought, to Malaysia someday.
Go to mechanic they will tell u buy toyota

X50 n 70 have so many low quality parts issue
End of the day we want a long lasting engine and resale 2nd value..
Any way the engine is from dinosaur age.
Give it just a couple of months or even years, let see who made the most headaches.
