    Many businesses are built around the idea of centralization. They facilitate safe and speedy transactions in exchange for a portion of the transaction. But what if that wasn't necessary any more? Bitcoin has proven that no authority is needed to facilitate transactions. Decentralized applications will soon be able to do everything that centralized ones can, so what does that mean for the businesses that exist solely to take a cut of a transaction? In this video, we explain what a Dapp is, and what they mean for the future.

    ====
    What are Dapps you might ask? Imagine having your car working away, transporting passengers while you’re at work. Imagine having your computer utilizing its spare capacity to serve businesses and people across the globe. Imagine being paid for browsing the web and taking ownership of your, arguably invaluable, attention. Imagine a world like that. That world is not far away.
    A paradigm shift in the way we view software models is approaching. When Bitcoin, the first cryptocurrency, made us reassess our definition of Store of Value (SoV), it also revealed a sneak peek of the future: a world running on decentralized applications (Dapps). These distributed, resilient, transparent and incentivized applications will prove themselves to the world by remapping the technological landscape.

    Nice review on dapp hosting!!!!
    but if you increased adoption, scalability, and incentives for your dapps
    You should definitely give hosting and creating those dApps on the #Chromia ecosystem a thought.
    Decentralized applications hosted on Chromia, are more than a collection of smart contracts. Each dapps has it's own blockchain, and a side chain which runs on specific set of nodes. Each dapp can have it's own token, it's own monetization, and it's own governance. A dapp pays for hosting, and not for every transaction on the Chromia platform. This gives dapp developers a high degree of control and flexibility.

    Thank you for your nice video
    I have question: does dapps work forever?, without any maintenance or renewal fee such as domain, hosting or etc?

      Actually seriously yes unless the world was shut down completely like in the movie Escape From New York. When one dap is under maintenance other nodes on part of a block chain in several other places would still hold the records or information exactly in tact. As far as work forever and never need any maintenance well it’s my personal opinion not fact mind you but opinion that nothing does that. Weather it’s the sun a human or a machine everything is constantly evolving until it’s demise at which time it transfers energy. But seriously I’m just a newbie taking a shot at a serious answer. There will always be a fee just like at a bank but you will Decide if it’s worth it or not. If it isn’t worth it the project won’t survive. I would hope the developers would know this from inception.

    I'm confused. The gas fees seem like a huge disincentive to using such apps for most people. The reason we use e.g. a social network app like facebook is because it is "free" (i.e. we pay with our peesonal information)

    • @grimjack9139
      @grimjack9139 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Just so others read this, gas fees are going away or becoming so little they're irrelevant.

    Can a smart contract be delete or cancelled? Like from Tron blockchain

    • @millanferende6723

      I would imagine it could be amended. Like an app can be updated. I believe the biggest difference, is that this app is the SAME for everyone. So EVERYBODY, even the maker, plays by the same rules.
      Now what happens if the Maker sends out an update that "Everyone's money gets send to THIS address, simultaneously." Also, who can push an update?
      Perhaps if you wanna update an application, it works like a new contract. How do we sign up for contracts? (By using the app and using a new version of the app when it comes out. But do they cross-communicate? I don't wanna start a new every time there is an update.)
      These are just my thoughts. I don't understand it enough as I just started to look into it.
      The premise is huge, once you put your imagination to it.

    • @brendangolledge8312
      @brendangolledge8312 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@millanferende6723 I am also new, but I would imagine that you can't update an app except in a way that you told the app that you might want to update it. You have to be careful about not writing a contract that will screw you over in some unforseen way, because it might be difficult to change once you get it going.

    But that's not fair, imagine I built an innovative app, now the miners who are running the app get rewarded but the application creator gets nothing! I imagine there should be a way to incentivize the developer and protect application from stealing (basically if the app is duplicated with no additional features, it should be rejected by the chain) If this is done, app developers will be encouraged to develop these kinds of apps and this technology gets used in practice..
