  • What Makes Cryptocurrency Valuable? - Tokenomics Part: 2
    blockgeeks.com/guides/what-is...
After covering the creation of cryptocurrencies and the networks that they live on, we wanted to dive a little deeper in Part 2. After all, deciding what type of token you want to make and where you'll make it is just the beginning.
In this part we discuss economic decisions you'll have to make about your token-- how frequently it should be used, what will it be used for, and how do you actually distribute it. Then we'll talk about the different types of value that you can create, and what that means for your project.

What I think is a huge problem with crypto that was kind of glossed over is that who would ever want to invest in anything but the crypto? I get if you have to buy the necessities with it but once you live on the bare minimum it's better to just hold on to the coins instead of actually buy a product or start a company using it. - Either i can hold this coin or i can take the risk to start a company instead of owning it.

Hey, a very nice 2-part series on Tokenomics. Thank you for sharing! If possible, are you able to explain the purpose of burning tokens? More specifically, why would a project/protocol decide to burn their tokens as a means to increasing their token value, when they could have just limited the amount of tokens distributed to begin with? Is it: (1) simply an after thought to address an issue (ie they couldnt sell/create enough demand as they would have hoped), (2) a programming issue that didn't allow them to limit the amount of tokens produced; or (3) a marketing tactic to initially gather as many different users/investors as possible with many tokens, but they always intended to ultimately burn some tokens at some point?

      I have the same question

I know this was a while ago now, but the main reason I think is to preserve current price. If the tokens aren't burned then they get circulated back into the available supply, which brings down the $ value of the coin since its inversely proportional to the total available supply.

@@waysofthecrypto8430 Thanks for the reply! I was about 6 months in when I wrote that. Now, after 18 months, I think I finally get it. They never really know how the market is going to react to tokenomics, especially back then when Defi was still developing, but you can even say the same now with how the market reacted with the Defi 2.0 protocols and how even that has taken a back flip.

i might have an idea how a crypto ecosystem can exsist. Im in travel industry, and a basic coin trader, i think the science can exist. Travel would deffintly change, no more currency exchange lost. Everyone can travel!!

Again this is a basic economics video. Why is crypto valuable? Beeny babies were valuable once upon a time and I think Pokemon Cards still have value, but just because there is limited supply for a specific group of buyers. So frustrating, I have seen several other videos with the same BS, no answers only fluff...Good Grief Charlie Brown

This is the reason why XRP will stay a shitcoin. So much potential but nothing year after years.
